**Experiencing Life as a Navy Pilot: My Time Inside an F-18**
As I sat down to write about my experience inside an F-18 fighter jet, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and reverence for the pilots who operate these machines. Growing up, I had always been fascinated by the idea of flying high-performance aircraft like the F-18, and I was thrilled to finally have the opportunity to learn more about it firsthand.
**Meeting Sean, My Pilot**
My journey began when I met Sean, one of the Navy's best pilots, who was assigned to take me on a flight tour inside an F-18. I was completely entrusting my life to him, and I wanted to make sure that I understood what he would be explaining to me about the aircraft. As we sat down in the cockpit, I could feel my heart racing with excitement and a hint of nervousness. Sean took me on a tour of the aircraft's systems, showing me how everything worked from the controls to the electronics.
**The F-18: A Multi-Role Strike Fighter Aircraft**
Sean explained that the F-18 is a multi-role strike fighter aircraft, meaning it's always ready to go and can perform various tasks such as attack, air defense, and reconnaissance. He took me through the cockpit panels, explaining how all of our electronics and systems were located there, including multiple computers, batteries, and other critical components. One of the coolest features Sean showed me was a flight simulator that allowed us to experience what it's like to fly an F-18. It was essentially a VR-like experience, complete with projectors, control panels, and even miniature models of the aircraft.
**The Gear Up Process**
Before we took off, I had to gear up in my Navy-standard flight suit, which weighed around 50 pounds. Let me tell you, it wasn't easy walking into that cockpit looking like a boss! But once I was strapped in, Sean gave us the thumbs-up, and we were ready to take off.
**Taking Off and Flying the F-18**
As we lifted off the ground, I felt a rush of adrenaline coursing through my veins. We began our ascent, and before long, we were cruising at Mach 1.2 – equivalent to over 900 miles per hour! Sean explained that this speed break the sound barrier, which was an incredible experience in itself.
**The Flight Experience**
During our flight, I witnessed breathtaking views of the clouds and cliffs below us. We performed several tight turns, and I felt like I was being crushed by the G-forces, but thanks to my breathing exercises and specialized equipment, I was able to manage them. It was an exhilarating experience, and I felt a deep sense of respect for the pilots who fly these aircraft every day.
**Reflecting on My Experience**
As we landed safely back on the ground, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to have experienced life as a Navy pilot. I realized that there are many unsung heroes out there working tirelessly to ensure our safety and security. To all the pilots, technicians, and crew members who make it possible for us to experience this kind of thrill, I salute you.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enmy world is all about reviewing smartphones laptops and a bunch of other tech so it's always refreshing when I get an opportunity to do something that's completely different but still tech related this is how I ended up going over nine hundred miles per hour in the Navy's big blood the f-18 all right guys check this out there goes the bad boy right here it's insane right this is it guys no way this thing is I'll be in there what so in order to even get inside one of these you're gonna need to do extensive training for your safety and very few people have been able to do this Tom Cruise being one of them and yours truly you know just saying so for weeks leading up to flying even in my hotel room the day before I was doing some pretty strange breathing exercises this is what I learned in my training don't judge he's been doing this like the last two weeks it's so weird I'm doing it terribly right now hold on so yes I know that seemed pretty weird but it's actually super important because when you're in the air and you're pulling G's you're getting hit with a ton of gravity and it's really important to have those breathing exercises so that you don't blackout while you're out there or throw up those were actually my missions when I was up there I did not want to blackout and I did not want to throw up and when I got to the base I was able to meet one of the Navy's best pilots Sean who I was completely entrusting my life to he was able to fill me in on all the tech that goes inside of an f-18 and the awesome crew that works on it okay so we got my buddy Sean over here he's the pilot of this plane Sean break it down for me what's the f-18 is a multi-role strike fighter aircraft so this is like a fighter jet it is a fighter jet okay so this thing is this thing is in attack mode at all times oh yeah it's ready to go ready to go right now we actually all of our electronics all of our systems and computers are all in these panels right here so these panels will open up and only multiple computers will be the battery all that stuff is all located in these side panels and he even showed me this flight simulator which was really cool and I really wish I could have filmed and showed you guys what was inside of there but pretty much just think VR like on steroids you pretty much go inside of this chamber that has a model jet cockpit so that you can go inside of there you have all this typical control that you would see on the jet and you're surrounded by panels that completely encloses the space and then on those panels they have projectors little mini projectors that pretty much made up a real-life simulation of what it's like to be inside of a jet and inside of there you can practice flying turns maneuvers even drop bombs it was just really really cool to experience it was surprising to see something so advanced over there at the Navy base definitely the next best thing to riding in a real f-18 and then it was time for the gear which I was Highfill until I learned I was gonna be wearing about 50 pounds worth of equipment I'm not gonna lie after I suited up I felt like a boss I was ready to take on the f-18 see what it had to bring all right guys so I am strapped in we are about to take off soon all right wish me luck here we go well before you start laughing and though you see the face I'm getting hit with a ton of G's up there for those of you who don't understand that getting hit with G's is getting hit with multiple times the Earth's gravity so if you're hitting two G's you're getting hit with twice the Earth's gravity we pulled seven and a half G so I was understanding and 1/2 times the Earth's gravity which felt like I was being crushed but thankfully I had all my breathing techniques I had that equipment that helps us really keep the G's off my body so I had a lot of stuff to help me out but Jesus eyed flying in the plane was an awesome experience because we got really close to those cliffs and it was it was breathtaking it was a really cool experience being able to fly so close but during those turns and everything he was getting hit by those G's which was a lot but it was really awesome - have you guys ever seen what rain looks like from a clouds perspective check this out this is what rain looks like mind-blowing stuff it was just really really cool not to mention we went at Mach 1.2 - which is equivalent to over 900 miles per hour kind of broke the sound barrier no big deal I got that under my belt that's kind of cool to say but it was awesome absolutely thrilling experience but at the end of it all your boy made it back on the ground it was definitely one of the most memorable experience I've ever had average I'm throwing up yet and it's kind of cool that there are just people out there who are working at the navy and training to do this for a living like that's mind blowing stuff when you think about it so shout out to all the pilots and everyone who works on those jets and making these kind of things work it's just cool to think there are group of people out there who this is just normal for but yeah guys that was my experience inside of an f-18 fighter jet mind blowing stuff if you guys want to learn more about the Navy and the f-18 of course have links down below in the description for you guys to check out or head to sailor vs. comm for
