Play Store shows IAPs, FIFA 15 is out, protesters use Bluetooth chat apps! - Google Play Weekly

Using Unique Communication Methods to Stay Safe

In recent times, people have been using unique ways to communicate that make them difficult to hack. One such application is Fire Chat, which uses a Bluetooth connection to send messages instead of data through cell networks. This makes it a secure way of communication, as conventional hacking methods cannot be used on it. However, there was an attempt by protesters to download an application called Code 4hk, which is believed to have been created by activist developers. Although the true identity of the creators is unknown, it's clear that they wanted to take advantage of this secure method of communication.

New Video Ads Platform for a Smoother User Experience

Google recently announced a new video ads platform that aims to make video ads more enjoyable and engaging. The platform allows for more configurable ads that are tailored to the size of the screen, which means users will no longer have to deal with poorly optimized ads that stretch and look terrible on their mobile devices. This is a welcome change for developers who want to offer their apps for free without sacrificing revenue. However, some users may not be pleased with this new development, as it can affect their overall user experience.

Google Play Store Updates for Developers

The Google Play Store has recently made several updates that will benefit developers and users alike. One notable update is the display of developer addresses alongside in-app purchase prices. This feature provides transparency to both sides, allowing users to make informed decisions about purchasing apps. However, some indie developers are unhappy with this change, as they prefer not to share their home addresses publicly. Additionally, Google has introduced a new way to display in-app purchase prices, but it only shows the minimum and maximum prices for each item.

Trending Applications

In recent times, several applications have been making waves in the tech community. FIFA 15 Ultimate Team is one such application that has taken the gaming world by storm. The game offers improved graphics, more teams, players, and features compared to its predecessor. It's a free-to-play app with in-app purchases, but some users have reported issues with the servers. Another popular application, Flexi Keyboard, recently received an update that added more language support, a new theme, and bug fixes. The update is available on the Google Play Store and Amazon App Store.

Streaming Apps for Android Users

For those who love streaming their favorite shows to Android devices, there's good news. The official TV app has been updated to allow users to stream recorded shows directly from their device to their mobile phone or tablet. This feature brings TV viewing into the modern age of mobility and is a welcome change for users who want to watch their favorite shows on-the-go.

New Browser for Android Users

The Cosmos browser was released recently, and it's been making waves in the tech community. The browser uses SMS to browse the web, rather than data, which makes it a unique feature. Although it's currently in beta form and only available in the United States, there's potential for this browser to revolutionize the way we access the internet.

Unique Application for Horizontal Video

Last but not least, there's an application called Hor that allows users to shoot horizontal video no matter how they hold their device. This feature is a game-changer for many users who are tired of watching videos with poor orientation. The app may have some bugs, but it's free to use and can be a welcome change for those who want to enjoy their favorite content in the best possible way.
