The Art of Transforming into Hatsun Miku: A Step-by-Step Guide
Hatsun Miku is a Japanese Vocaloid superstar, and if you're not familiar with her, you need to look her up ASAP because you're seriously missing out. This video is going to show you how to look like her, but remember that you can always use this tutorial for other anime looks too.
To start off, begin with an electric blue eyeshadow. The creator of the video is using a cream-based eyeshadow because it blends so easily. It's essential to apply this color on your entire lid because we're going for that hyper anime look. With your trusty old white eyeliner, exaggerate the white of your eyes and extend it out like this. This creates the illusion of bigger-looking eyes almost bulging them out.
Don't forget to line your waterline with the electric blue again and outline the white eyeliner if you're good at drawing anime and manga then this will be a piece of cake. Take a turquoise color and focus on your center lid, applying a generous amount around this area. The creator likes using two eyeshadow colors rather than just one because it's going to create that beautiful artistic look. A dark gray matte color is used to draw a crease line above your real crease, which will exaggerate the folds in your eyes and create an illusion of deeper eye creases.
With your black liquid eyeliner, start from the inner corner of your eyes and work your way out by drawing a very thin line. It should gradually become thicker as you move out, but make sure the eyeliner is moving up instead of down. If it's moving down, it'll look like your eyes are drooping, and you're going to look really sad unless you like that emo look. Stacking three lashes on top of each other will exaggerate the lashes, and applying fake lashes as usual will make your eyes start looking bigger.
For the fun part, using Japanese bottom lashes is a must in the creator's opinion. Japan makes the best bottom lashes, coming in all shapes and sizes but most importantly, they're so easy to use. The creator never has trouble using them, but it does require steady hands like a surgeon. Take the turquoise color again and use this color on your brows, wanting your brows to match your turquoise hair color. A bit of blue is added for color variation.
It's time to finally throw on the wig, which will be added later with pigtails. The creator takes the pinkest blush that you own and applies it on the apples of your cheeks with a blush brush, giving you an innocent doll-like look. Take your pigtails and comb out your long Rapunzel hair, adding a hair accessory later to complete the look. Clip the pigtails on both sides, finishing off with a pretty pink lip gloss.
If you want the full Miku effect, don't forget your blue contact lens. Now that we're finished looking like Hatsun Miku, it's as easy as H who am I kidding? This took forever but it was fun. You can now dress up as your favorite Vocaloid for costume events, anime expos, concerts, and even grocery shopping. Good luck, and hope to see you there!
