Social Media in Books

The Power of Social Media: A Conversation about "Scandal"

But you accidentally wrote it and destroy it - a person's life so it's very, very relevant. This book I would say is how things happen who says in this book Lucy handles the situation amazingly. I wish I could say the same if that were to happen to me. But I know right now this would have happened to me in high school. I would not handle it well at all. Like no, I'm not talking like strictly about social media - I just trying to talk about how social media really plays into this book. You know, the how Lucy and all that stuff I did like this book. I would say I'd give it a 3.5. Um, I have read Surah Fleurs previous books such as Bittersweet which I adore and 20 Boy Summer which Guy also adores and The Book of Broken Hearts which I also adore.

I have to say if I'm going to be honest this was my least favorite of her books. The reason for that because I think this book was predominantly about you know, kind of social media stuff so it was written a lot like texting and stuff like that. And I just don't text talk like that a lot and now the reason I took I can really connect with the characters. I just felt Lucy struggle with Miss book but I didn't really connect with her - there was a hundred percent like I didn't really feel like we were together or some, I don't know you know what I mean, either really connect with her although I definitely say this book is a must-read for like this group the cyberbullying aspect, the slut-shaming aspect all that stuff is so predominant in this book and I think it's important to read that - how you can affect somebody's life by strictly using Facebook - how you can mess up somebody's high school experience just by Facebook. No, I'm not gonna live face, I'm not gonna like high school for me was horrible if I could go back I would not do it on because I hated it was joked on I was bullied on I was a geek good girl whatever that was my kind of thing in high school so I would not want to go back to high school for that well maybe I would because I'm much more outspoken and feisty than I wasn't in but I don't know I would not want to relive high school you know so I think that if Facebook ones, I think that facebook really plays a huge part in young people's lives like high school people's lives - it's so important to know that and you know if you aren't high school watching this you know I hope you are good on Facebook and not one of those mean people that will comment or put up pictures or do the cyberbullying thing that's not okay to do. You are not doing that - I don't think you are but hopefully or not, but yeah.

I just want to talk about that briefly. I know this wasn't like really a review or something like that. This is just pretty much about the social media aspect of this book and I really just want to talk about that because I think it's important to talk about social media in like the goodness of it and the very, and the downfalls of it because the downfalls are quite down or like you know not so great.

Anyway, if you're interested in reading Scandal, you are in luck. "WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhello everyone today I'm here to talk about social media you know Facebook Twitter Instagram all of the stuff and no reason why I'm talking about social media is because I just finished this book scandal by Sarah akhlagh and it is pretty much all about that case you don't know what this book is about like I said it's about social media but I'm gonna tell you in more of context what's about it's probably see who has to go to the prom with her best friend's boyfriend named Cole and the reason for that is her best friend's sick and she char siew see to take her to take her boyfriend all that kind of stuff problem right just easy peasy prom stuff well turns out lucy has been harboring feelings for coal for like four years and then they kiss under the stars and lucy learns that maybe her feelings aren't as unrequited as she thought in that Cole likes her as well but confronting her best friend isn't all she has to worry about by Monday she learns that her phone has been stolen and somebody has uploaded a ton of Facebook photos of that night at the after party after the prom of her Cole kissing other various activities that other students are doing he's branded a lot a ton of bad names and it just social media plays in this a shoot for in a huge way not like i said this book is all about social media now i was fortunate enough to not have facebook in high school I think like right maybe at the end of my high school years was like maybe the cusp of facebook but I didn't wasn't really insanely popular as it what as it is now say I'm fortunate friend okay now don't get me wrong I do love facebook i love connecting with friends it's good for business purposes and all that kind of stuff but it can be really bad for a multitude of reasons today number one how did facebook in your life in high school is tough like it is tough and for that there's so many things like dip what happened to Lucy example she you know didn't do something equally amazing and it was broadcasted all over Facebook for everyone to see for everyone to judge and she's been calling all these she's been caught all these names like and in a whole bunch of horrible names like backstabber and that's all because of facebook and you know what outs of what else is kind of bad about Facebook is cyber bullying cyberbullying is a huge problem in this world I don't know if enough people pay attention to it or not people who hasn't happened to them yet but I it is horrible cyber bullying can happen like you can get destroyed you can destroy someone's life with a future to the keyboard simply on facebook and cyber bullying is relevant in this book a huge part don't really read a book as touched a lot on cyber bullying as much as this book did so i highly recommend it for that really delves into how facebook and how social media can really destroy a person's life because social media now is what it was like your whole life is on social media you know there's twitter there's instagram there's facebook there's pinchers there's so much social media sites and there are so many things that could go wrong with it like you actually put a picture that's not supposed to that you didn't mean to put up and you destroyed somebody's life you accidentally you know wrote something that you were like thinking but you accidentally wrote it and destroy it a person's life so it's very very relevant this book I would say is how things happen who say in this book Lucy handle the situation amazingly i wish i could say the same if that would
