Hanni and Issues Guide to Fake Dating by Adiba Jigaradhar
This book is actually by the author of The Henna Wars, which I really need to read soon. I finally picked it up but I need to read it soon actually that was kind of spoilers for my book haul that's coming but oh well this book obviously follows Hanni and Issue and Hanni ends up telling her friends that she's bisexual she comes out to them but they completely invalidate her identity saying like how can you know you're bisexual if you've only ever been with men and she ends up blurting out that she actually has a girlfriend and who she chooses to be her girlfriend is someone that her friends really don't like who is obviously Issue. Hanni and Ishii are complete opposites but they actually agree to a mutually beneficial fake dating relationship I love fake dating so I think I'm gonna love this one.
A Clash of Steel by CB Lee
Which is a Treasure Island retelling I've never read a treasure island retelling before but it is about two girls who are on a hunt for treasure on the deadly seas you know I haven't really have I read Treasure Island I think I read part of it when I was in the class where we were reading it but then I ended up dropping that class because I didn't need it anymore so I never got to finish it but I do know a little bit about it and I think a retelling of it seems really cool.
Little Fees by Margaret Owen
Which is also a retelling but this is what was in a retelling of Goose Girl literally just looked at it and then my brain just was like non-important information but it's a Goose Girl retelling so I think that seems really amazing I love the Goose Girl by Shannon Hale which is also a goose girl retelling I've never said goose so many times in a video but I was really looking forward to this one on its way to coming out so now I need to pick it up.
A Match Made in Mehendi by Nandini Bashpai
So I actually have another book by this author that I am just dying to read I just like haven't gotten to it but I've heard really amazing things about this one as well it follows the main character Simi and she comes from a long line of matchmakers so she ends up accidentally matching up two people and her family is just thrilled that she seems to have the matchmaking gene she's kind of not really into it until she realizes that she can actually make an app with it so she makes this matchmaking app and it kind of just starts to upend the entire social hierarchy at her school which seems awesome.
Charming as a Verb by Ben Philippe
Ben Philippe is the author of The Field Guide to the North American Teenager which I read this past year and ended up really enjoying so this seems like a great book as well it's about a boy who is pretty much like he's just the top of everything he has this dog walking business he is like a straight A student and he's just like the golden child but this girl who is really well known for having a bad reputation at school ends up coming to him and asking for help changing her reputation to be kind of more like him and she blackmails him into helping her because his dog walking business is actually a cover for something else I'm really curious what it's a cover for but Ben Felipe had such a distinct writing style an amazing voice for his characters and everything that I for sure need to read more by him from my video.
Christmas Book Haul
Talking about the most hyped books of 2021 I also kind of have Malibu Rising by oh my gosh why did I just forget her name I want to call her Daisy Jones but that's not her name Taylor Jenkins Read I'm kind of intrigued by it now and want to pick it up and also Midnight Library and Defy the Night but I may have already ordered those ones oops so those are all the books that are on my Christmas wish list I hope you guys enjoyed today's video please let me know what is on your Christmas wish list because I would love to know I think that's so much fun and I hope that you guys have a good Christmas Eve Eve or just a good I don't know what day of the week it is because I'm filming this so early just a good day once again don't forget to subscribe so then you won't miss any of the videos coming out in December and I will see you guys in a new video tomorrow tomorrow that's what I was forgetting I always tell you the topic tomorrow is obviously Christmas Eve so I'm going to be doing a Christmas Bookshelf Scavenger Hunt which is going to be so much fun so I will see you guys then bye
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: eneveryone it's hailey and today is bookmas day 23 so happy christmas eve eve but today i'm going to be talking about the books that are on my christmas wish list fun fact i have a weird little tradition that i watch eloise at christmas time every christmas eve eve last year i was sad because i just felt sad that i wasn't watching it with my family but this year i'm really excited about it i i literally just watch it like it's one of my favorite christmas movies i don't know why but it just is and i literally just watch it because at the one point she wakes up on obviously on december 23rd and is like it's christmas eve so now i watch it every christmas eve i can't explain it but it is what it is however i wanted to talk about some books that are on my wish list so i don't really ask for books for christmas because i mean they're a tax expense so i can just buy them for myself but theoretically if i were to have a christmas wish list these books would be at the top of the list and i'm really excited about today's video so before we get into it don't forget to click that subscribe button and then click the bell icon so you'll be notified whenever i post i'm posting a new video every single day for the entire month of december so you don't want to miss any of those also yesterday for bookmas day 22 i tear ranked all the books that i read in 201 2021 i keep on every time i go to say 21 or 22 saying 2021 or 2022 and it's just messing with my brain but i tear ranked all of the books that i read in 2021 so i will have that link down below as well as the entire bookmas playlist so you can get caught up if you've missed anything but without further ado let's get into my wish list so the first books on my wish list this year are two books by the same author and that author is tiffany d jackson so the first book by her that i included on my wish list is monday's not coming now i have now read quite a few tiffany jackson books and by quite a few i mean two but i've been blown away by both of them so i do own groan by her which i still need to read however monday's not coming and the other book that i'll talk about in a second are the only two of hers that i don't have and she has just quickly made her way into my like must buy authors list she writes these mysterious mostly psychological thrillers but there's always a little twist to them and it like just blows my mind every time so when monday's not coming there is this girl monday and she just stops like coming to school she completely disappears and her best friend seems to be the only one who notices that when she doesn't show up on the first day of school she's kind of confused but then when she doesn't show up for the preceding two weeks then she knows that there's something up and she's looking into it and wondering how someone can pretty much completely disappear and she be the only one who notices the other book by tiffany d jackson on my wish list is let me hear a rhyme this follows three brooklyn teens who have this plan to turn their murdered friend into a rap star posthumously but they're going to pretend that he's still alive so like that just seems like it's going to be complicated things can go wrong but i'm definitely really intrigued by it honestly pretty much anything that tiffany t jackson comes out with i'm like yes right now and i don't know if she has anything announced for 2022 i just made my big giant pre-order order yesterday but i think i didn't look to see if she had anything so that makes me sad but oh well i will definitely still get my hands on whatever she is coming out with next next is wait for it by jen mckinley so jenn mckinley is the author of paris is always a good idea which i picked up on a complete whim but ended up really enjoying it like i was very pleasantly surprised by that book so when i saw that she had something else out i definitely wanted to read it this book is about a woman with a new lease on life and she ends up moving to arizona where she's renting a guest house that has a very mysterious owner so this seems to be pretty different than her previous book in terms of plot but i mean i did i was very pleasantly surprised by her other books so this one could be one i like to next is the last chance library by freya sampson this seems like such an adorable read because it's about a girl who is trying to save her beloved library and she also is being assisted by this like eclectic group of library patrons i love the fact that this is a story about a librarian and she's really trying to save the local library and then she has this group of people like i'm just picturing these really like cute little old people that are trying to help her out it just makes me smile i feel like it's gonna be really adorable and i'm excited for it next is the charm offensive by alison cochran this is about the producer of this dating show and he has been like setting people up with their happily ever afters for years now he crafts these fairy tales on this long-running dating show but then there's this guy who is an awkward tech dude and he ends up going on the dating show but as he's there he kind of starts falling for the producers so this is a gay romance and it just seems like the cutest concept i love the dating show idea i think that's going to be amazing but also like a producer having his own love story where he always like scripts these love stories for all these contestants on the dating show i just think it's gonna be so funny something about that just totally works for me next is the rogue princess by br myers i think i may have included this book in another video and i don't know if it was another wish list or if it was like an anticipated video but either way i think this seems really interesting this is actually a modern sci-fi retelling of cinderella and i don't like i struggle with sci-fi but there are some like i'm still willing to give a chance and this one does seem very cool it follows a princess who is fleeing an arranged marriage who ends up teaming up with a snarky commoner in the efforts to foil a rebel plot so definitely interesting next is house of hollow by crystal sutherland so this book came out and like i i was very attracted by the cover like the cover is super pretty but it came out and then it was like everywhere and then when i was looking on goodreads it has very high reviews which has kind of piqued my interest in it it follows the main character holo and she's always been kind of strange she and her sisters there was something that happened to them when they were younger but no one can remember like none of them can remember what it was but it left them all with like this crescent-shaped scar at the base of their throats it seems like the concept of the story is that her older sister goes missing and just things have always been weird for her but they start to get progressively weirder essentially the synopsis is just like things are weird but then they get weirder so we'll see what happens and like how weird it is i feel like it does seem like a book though where you want to go in not really knowing much next is the x talk by rachel lynn solomon so rachel lynn solomon is the author of today tonight tomorrow and she also has two new books actually coming out next year but i didn't realize i had definitely seen this book around but i didn't put two and two together that this was the same author because this is actually an adult romance but it does seem really fun it's following public radio co-hosts who can't really stand each other they keep on butting heads and then they are tasked with like they're trying to get readings up for the radio show so they end up doing the x talk which is this segment where the two of them give relationship advice and it ends up being wildly popular as like they don't like each other they're butting heads and they're doing this whole relationship advice thing it just works and people love it so obviously you know enemies to lovers romance is kind of the vibe that i'm getting there but it seems like a really good one next up is shipped by angie hochman this book is described as the hating game meets the unhoneymooners and i did enjoy both of those books so i think i'll probably like this one if it's enemies to lovers done in the way that i like which like i'm just picky about that but you follow a workaholic marketing manager who ends up being forced to go on a cruise with one of her co-workers that she really doesn't like they're actually arch nemesis nemesis yeah nemesis but they are up for the same promotion so being on this cruise you know that's gonna kind of complicate things but you know i think it's gonna be a it's gonna be a romance because it is an adult romance so that checks out i just inferred that next is the gunkle by stephen rowley i actually hadn't seen this book before until i was like shopping on indigo doing my end of the year shopping and then i saw this book a lot and the other place that i saw actually was the goodreads choice awards nominations so then i looked more into it because it looked like a lot of fun and it kind of reminds me of that movie with brittany murphy uptown girls which i really liked with a young dakota fanning kind of reminds me of that i think this is the right movie that i'm thinking of or is it one with kate hudson because i always get the two of them mixed up now i'm pretty sure it's uptown girls that i'm thinking of there is another one though that i think has kate hudson that's kind of similar and it has this other dude who plays someone in another movie that i can't think of so this is really interesting for you anyways i think the person for the other movie also is in the ramona and beezus movies which i literally have never seen but i don't know why i know that but i need to move on because i'm just it's bugging me and that's why i keep thinking about it but this follows a once famous gay sitcom star who now has retired from sitcoms and everything but a tragic accident leaves him in charge of his niece and nephew for the summer i think this sounds really really cute so i'm definitely going to have to get my hands on it soon next is hanni and issues guide to fake dating by adiba jagirdar this is actually by the author of the henna wars which i really need to read soon i did finally pick it up but i need to read it soon actually that was kind of spoilers for my book haul that's coming but oh well this book obviously follows hannie and issue and hannie ends up telling her friends that she's bisexual she comes out to them but they completely invalidate her identity saying like how can you know you're bisexual if you've only ever been with men and she ends up blurting out that she actually has a girlfriend and who she chooses to be her girlfriend is someone that seems really amazing i love the goose girl by shannon hale which is also a goose girl retelling i've never said goose so many times in a video but i was really looking forward to this one on its way to coming out so now i need to pick it up next is a match made in mehendi by nandini bashpai so i actually have another book by this author that i am just dying to read i just like haven't gotten to her family is just thrilled that she seems to have the matchmaking gene she's kind of not really into it until she realizes that she can actually make an app with it so she makes this matchmaking app and it kind of just starts to upend the entire social hierarchy at her school which seems awesome and finally is charming as a verb by ben philippe ben philippe is the author of the field guide to the i will see you guys in a new video tomorrow tomorrow that's what i was forgetting i always tell you the topic tomorrow is obviously christmas eve so i'm going to be doing a christmas bookshelf
