It's Replacing My iPad Pro In Unexpected Ways...
**A Review of the iPad: A Device that Surpassed Expectations**
When it comes to multitasking on a device as small as an iPhone, many people might assume that it's not possible. However, when you put it into context, multitasking on such a device is actually quite doable. In fact, I've found that this particular iPad is perfect for getting plenty done, especially with the quick note functionality. With just a few taps, you can create notes and clip content to them with ease.
The quick note feature is one of my favorite aspects of this device. By dragging up a note and selecting "Add to Quick Note", it will add relevant content, such as quotes or text, directly into the note. This feature has been a game-changer for me, especially when using the Apple Pencil. The ability to create and manage quick notes with just a few taps is incredibly convenient.
Another advantage of this device is its reading experience. I've found that it's perfect for consuming written content, whether it's a book or an article. The screen size is large enough to be enjoyable to read on, but small enough to be held comfortably in one hand. The jelly scrolling effect, although noticeable at times, has not detracted from my overall enjoyment of reading on this device.
One aspect that may seem minor, but is actually quite annoying for me, is the Apple Pencil sitting on the side of the screen when I'm using it in vertical orientation. While it's not a deal-breaker by any means, it does take up some valuable space and can be a bit distracting at times.
This device has also proven to be ideal for web surfing and reading documents. The smaller screen makes it perfect for consuming information on-the-go, while the larger screen provides an excellent viewing experience for longer content like videos or movies.
In my business, I frequently use this iPad to send and sign contracts using a specific app called PDF Expert. I've found that signing contracts on this device is actually more enjoyable than on the larger iPad models, thanks in part to the Apple Pencil. The ability to navigate and annotate documents with ease has been a significant advantage.
Overall, despite some minor drawbacks, I'm thoroughly enjoying my time with this device. It's become an integral part of my daily routine, both personally and professionally. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and versatile iPad that can handle everything from reading to productivity tasks.
**A Note on the Review Process**
I've found that when I receive review units, I often fall back into my old habits before getting fully accustomed to them. However, this particular device has become an integral part of my daily life, and I don't see myself going back to my previous setup anytime soon.
As you can expect, I'll be reviewing the new Apple Watch series 7 in a forthcoming video, as well as covering the upcoming Apple event with some exclusive content. If you're interested in staying up-to-date on all things tech-related, make sure to subscribe to my channel for daily updates and reviews.
**Conclusion**
With its versatility, ease of use, and exceptional reading experience, this iPad has won me over. I'm excited to see how it continues to evolve and improve with future software updates. If you're in the market for a new tablet or simply looking to upgrade from your current one, I highly recommend giving this device a try.
In closing, thank you for joining me on this review of my iPad experience. I hope you've enjoyed this in-depth look at this amazing device, and I'll see you in the next video.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enit's chris welcome to my ipad mini review we're going to talk about all the stuff that you care about that really matters but i want to start by talking about this so-called jelly scrolling effect everyone's been making a big deal out of it and i just want to hit it right out of the gate if you're unfamiliar some people out there have been saying they don't like the way that this scrolls apple has said officially for the record it's supposed to look the way that it does that's just part of the technology here but pay attention see if you can notice what i'm scrolling here as i'm scrolling up and down the part that's next to my finger seems to go faster than the other side of the screen this is that jelly scroll effect and in day-to-day usage it's not very noticeable to me but once you see it it's hard to unsee let me throw something at you i was trying to explain this to somebody else what the jelly scrolling effect was in person i was showing them and i was trying to demonstrate the best of my ability what was happening and the other person didn't even notice didn't even see it and so what i've taken away from this is that not everyone is going to notice much less care i'm really into tech stuff i see tech screens all the time lots of screens i'm bombarded with it i'm immersed in the world of displays i know all the technologies and i can tell when there's this jelly scrolling effect but a lot of people and maybe even most people won't be able to notice that's why if you look at some of the reviews out there from reputable sources they'll say that there's some minor issues with the screen and this is what they're talking about and that's the right word for it long story short has it kept me from wanting to use this ipad mini from interacting with it from enjoying it absolutely not there's something about the size the design i just can't get enough of this ipad mini when i'm not using it i'm thinking about using it i've got several ipads laying around and when it's time to do something on an ipad this has been coming into my mind first because it's just so enjoyable to use jelly scrolling or not now this ipad mini has a touch id sensor embedded in the power button and that's been kind of interesting you know they had that on the ipad air so i was kind of used to that as i was testing this but it's the size that's interesting here so when this is locked what i've done is i've scanned my thumb on this side to unlock it and then on the other side if i happen to be holding it this way i've actually scanned my palm so that that can unlock this and that's kind of neat too so i would say that the touch id is not as good as face id would be for me so i prefer that on the ipad pro but it's really good for what it is here that also hasn't kept me from not wanting to use this now of all the use cases that would probably come to mind first for using an ipad mini the thing that i've actually enjoyed the most is using the apple pencil with this i've actually been putting together a new business venture and i found that this is my go-to tool for sketching out those ideas and here's why i'm picking this over even my ipad pro right now when it comes to sketching stuff because of the size i can hold this in one hand so easily and it's just like holding paper almost it's so light and to be able to hold it in one hand and then use the apple pencil with the other it's just such a good experience with the ipad pro i have to set it down on my desk and then actually get to work that way because it's not easy to hold that in one hand you get fatigued because it is bigger so i've absolutely been loving this with the apple pencil for apple notes the only thing that would make it better is if my paper like that i pre-ordered for this new size would show up faster because you know me i love my paper like screen protectors and this is going to be no exception using it on this device now just because of the size of this thing you might assume it's mostly for consumption but that's not actually the case i can actually get some real work done on here using the apple pencil for instance now that we've got usbc i can hook up my sony camera import some high quality photos right into lightroom and edit them right there and then get them stuck up on instagram by the way the instagram account's been popping off lately been getting thousands and thousands of likes because i've been posting some great pictures that have been editing on my ipad so the apple pencil has just been incredible here i would never ever ever want to be without an apple pencil if i was considering buying this ipad now let's talk about battery life and gaming at the same time here in one fell swoop battery life i feel like could be a little bit better that would be nice but apple says you can expect about 10 hours of mixed usage with the battery in my experience it feels like you're gonna be able to get maybe a 10 drop in your battery life if you're playing a game let's say an intense game and a little bit of a less intense game you might see maybe a seven percent drop in battery life and maybe that'll help you gauge based on the kind of app that you're using whether it's really demanding or intense versus just kind of a chill app so while i do wish that i could game on here for longer in between charges i'm really happy with how gaming actually works and i'll tell you why because this thing is fast it's got some really great guts inside so for the types of activities that i'm using this thing for for things like gaming video yet editing watching videos emailing surfing the web reading photo and video editing this has been plenty plenty fast in fact so fast i haven't even had to worry about the performance here there's nothing here that's slowing me down in any way shape or form no matter what i'm doing by the way i'd like to take this opportunity to just say if you're liking the vibe of this video why not get yourself subscribed because i'm talking about great ipad apps constantly several videos throughout the year if you haven't run into one of those yet i'll link some up down below but for instance that's where subscribers know i've introduced really great apps like this one which is jarvis the ai writing assistant that you can tell hey write me a blog post and it will write you a comprehensive non-plagiarized blog post on whatever topic you would like it to so even though with the mini here i'm not probably going to be using a keyboard most of the time i can still get some serious solid work done using apps like jarvis and voice dictation or the scribble tool or just the on-screen keyboard something else that's absolutely awesome here is the upgraded front-facing camera just like on the ipad pro it's not in the place that i prefer it right but apple kind of considers this an orientationless device so it's kind of up in the air which way is up down side or side but that aside i have really really really loved using this for zoom calls right for cisco webex meetings i don't enjoy the meetings right but i do enjoy using this for the meetings it's got center stage now so the camera can follow me around that comes in so handy and this front-facing camera here this used to be 7 megapixels that's been upgraded to 12 and i can tell the difference i would never use my old ipad mini for a video conference this i'll grab it any time of the day and feel confident about looking good my whole environment looking good in that meeting now speaking of meetings one thing that i think could use a little improving is the speakers now don't get me wrong the speakers are great i'm glad that we have stereo speakers that is awesome not complaining about that but it's just if you're in a meeting for instance then they could get a little bit louder right i don't think i'd want to use these necessarily for a meeting without my airpods for instance so speakers passable not a reason not to buy it it's just it's hard to find anything bad to say about this so that's one little thing i can say i just wish was a little better just a little bit now some people have been complaining about this do you know what i'm talking about when you're looking at this do you find something to complain about if you can't let me explain some people have been complaining about the padding the spacing in between icons on here i gotta be honest i haven't really cared or noticed i saw people complaining i was like oh okay well yeah but i just was using it and i didn't give it a second thought i think most people are probably gonna fall into that same boat too the spacing doesn't matter all that much to me if i can get in and do what i need to do and honestly if you watch my focus modes video where i change out my home screens throughout the day depending on whether i'm working or if it's personal time or whatever you know it just the home screen is dynamic enough for me that i'm really happy and i don't need to worry about or complain about the padding the spacing between icons so that hasn't been a big deal for me i've really enjoyed watching videos on here i have to say this makes the perfect couch device what do i mean by that it's bigger than your iphone right so if you're going to watch some videos kick back and relax and in a nice comfy place could be the bed could be a couch or a chair or something this is perfect for that again for the same reason i like using it with the apple pencil you can hold it one-handed really easily this is just so light and comfy and awesome that's why i say it's the perfect couch device now for something like email or notes i would say this is okay to use the on-screen keyboard it's not bad but obviously i think it's not really meant for really heavy-duty emailing or productivity stuff note-taking that's not by hand one thing i do really like is that even in landscape mode here i can easily reach everything with my thumbs and that's pretty cool and then you know this does have the scribble functionality so i can come in and activate that and grab my scribble pencil here and just kind of type and erase stuff and and that is workable right it works and it's kind of fun but it doesn't go super fast so i think this works the best probably for filling out things like forms i don't really consider a substitution for using an actual keyboard just because it's slower than typing it's cool it's very cool it's great for inputting text when you have to but it's not something that you want to rely on for your long-form stuff that said you could use this as a workstation because it's plenty powerful if you don't mind the screen and we'll get to multitasking in just a second but if i was going to hook up a keyboard i think i'd probably go for something like the new mini mx keys by logitech i love the full size mx keys really really great typing experience i haven't gotten a hold of this mini version yet so let me know if that's something you guys want me to review and maybe together with this drop me some comments but you know propping this up as a stand here and putting a keyboard in front of it and doing some multitasking it's really doable i mean there's no reason why you couldn't do that i feel like this is a very capable machine for multitasking you know you have people saying well why can't we multitask and see two windows at once on the iphone we really want that especially on the pro max so people are willing to multitask on something as small as the iphone so multitasking here is very very doable when you put it in that context it's not quite as nice and spacious as the air or the pro but you can get plenty done here and in fact i have been it's absolutely perfect for dragging and dropping stuff so that is no problem multitasking is actually pretty good here something else that's actually pretty good too is the quick note functionality where you drag up a note and you go ahead and clip stuff to your note you can just say add to quick note it'll add it right in here with a quote and you can move this around you know if you're a subscriber you probably saw my ipad os 15 video where i talked in depth about quick note how to get the most out of it and i really like using quick note on this device again because i can use it one-handed with the apple pencil it's just so enjoyable reading on this device has actually been pretty great too just like you would suspect i mentioned in my unboxing video that i was really contemplating moving away from my kindle to give this another shot the reason by the way that i switched to a kindle in the first place even though i have so many ipads i love the ipad is because it's so distracting it has games it has internet it has apps and the kindle is really just books much worse experience in terms of software right in the screen and everything but it helps me actually get more done i feel like to read there that said i really do like reading on here you know here's that jelly scrolling effect if you can even tell with the camera here once again again if you notice it you notice it for me it's a little more pronounced when there's text on the screen like this when i'm going up and down but really it's almost just the perfect size for reading kind of like an actual book size one thing that's those are really great for propping them up and maybe using them as a sidecar component as you're on your desk setup or for just watching something like a full-length movie for an hour and a half or time for doing something really important and that is sending and signing contracts now i'm not going to open up my contracts for you to see right here but take my word for it i like signing contracts on this sized ipad even more maybe than on the larger size ipad when it comes to the apple pencil i'm really really liking doing everything whatever it is contract signing included on this screen size so ultimately despite a few less than perfect things i'm really really satisfied with this device i have no problem recommending it to people just be aware some of you will see and notice the jelly scrolling whether you care or not i guess is up to you for me honestly it hasn't detracted from me liking and loving actually this device but your mileage is probably going to vary i think most people are going to end up using this though like an oversized phone all right i think that's going to wrap it up for this i've been using it for a good solid little bit here and i don't plan on stopping sometimes i get a review unit and i kind of do what i need to i test it and you know i go back to the way things were whatever i was using and working with before but this is getting integrated into
