How to Safely Update from iOS 6 or iOS 7 Beta to Final Version of iOS 7
Hello everyone, I'm Apple Pro here and in this video, I'll show you how to safely update from iOS 6 or any iOS 7 beta to the final version of iOS 7. I've had a lot of people asking me to make this video, and I'm happy to help because many of you guys are having issues with updating to iOS 7.
To start, let's first check if your device can be updated from within itself. Go into general software update and attempt to update from here. Many of you guys will get errors or simply won't see the update in general. If you're unable to do it from your device, the next step is to open up iTunes on your computer and go ahead and select "make a backup." This is to preserve all of your important data like photos, music, etc. Make sure to create a backup just in case. I'm not saying you'll lose your data, but you never know, so it's always best to make one now.
Now that we have our backup, let's proceed with the update process. With the backup in place, go ahead and select "update" this will take you to a screen that will ask you to update and download iOS 7. If all goes well, it should work. However, for many people, this won't work as well. Therefore, we'll be downloading iOS 7 manually.
I have links down below in the description to where you can get iOS 7 for your specific device. With your device connected, go ahead and select "option on a Mac" and left click "update" or shift on a Windows computer and look click "update." Then, go to your desktop or wherever you did download the IPSW and select open and select update now. This will prepare your device for the update.
This is basically just a manual way of updating your device versus automatically doing it in iTunes, but nonetheless, it should work if all goes well, and your device will be running iOS 7 very soon. This method works for six-point-one-point anything or even an iOS 7 beta. However, I know many of you guys will get errors in iTunes and that may be because you messed with a host file. In such cases, you can either fix the file or do this from another computer that hasn't been tampered with, and you'll be able to update to iOS 7.
My advice has rebooted making this a successful iOS 7 install. If all goes well, go ahead and select "get started" in the quick menu, and you guys are running iOS 7 on your device now. However, it's worth noting that this method does not work for certain devices like the iPod Touch 4th generation, iPad 1st generation, or iPhone 3GS.
Just keep that in mind that this only works on newer devices, but once you do have it, you'll notice that it runs well in one of my newer videos. I will make a video in the future about an iOS 7 battery fix because I noticed that it was draining in my device and I did fix the problem.
So, to conclude, updating from iOS 6 or any iOS 7 beta to the final version of iOS 7 can be done manually using iTunes, but there are some precautions to take. Make sure you have a backup of your data, use this method on compatible devices, and be prepared for potential errors.
