Note 20 Ultra - Let’s Talk

My First Impressions of the Samsung Note 20 Ultra

The Samsung Note 20 Ultra has curved edges, similar to some of Samsung's premium flagships. While I personally don't love this design feature, fans of curved screens will likely appreciate it. In contrast, the non-ultra version of the regular Note 20 has a flat glass display.

In terms of performance, the phone feels very fast and games run nicely on it. As expected, the performance is excellent, which is in line with what you'd anticipate from a high-end device like this one. The launch event for the Note 20 also showcased the upcoming Xbox Cloud Gaming service, which I'm excited about. However, the Note 20 doesn't get first dibs on that platform; it's just a launch partner.

The S Pen has been upgraded this year to have a more responsive interface, with nine milliseconds of latency. While latency is important for creative work like drawing on tablets, I don't feel like it's a huge deal for general use cases like jotting down notes on the phone. A lower latency time would be beneficial, but nine milliseconds is still better than 26 milliseconds, which is found in the regular Note 20.

One of the main conversation points surrounding the Note 20 series is pricing. The phone is priced at $1,300, which makes it one of Samsung's most expensive devices. This price point is often discussed among potential buyers, who wonder if it's worth paying such a premium for a device with so many features. I think that the price is fairly reasonable, considering the overall market and how Samsung usually prices its products.

However, there is another version of the Note 20 series, the regular Note 20, which costs $1,000. While this may seem like a more affordable option, I think it's overpriced due to the plastic back and stripped features compared to the Ultra model. My take on this is that Samsung usually sells its devices aggressively during holiday sales and other events, so the initial price might not be as high as it seems.

Overall, my first impressions of the Samsung Note 20 Ultra are very positive. The device looks stunning, with a design that's both sleek and premium. I'm excited to dive deeper into the phone's features and performance in an upcoming review.
