The Ideal Street Drift Car Interior: A Work in Progress
I wanted to show you my roof wing for this car, which is going to help tie the rear end of this car together and look way better. I'm kind of on the fence about what I want to do for the trunk wing - I want to do an OEM wing or even a shaved OEM wing like the yellow car, but I don't know if I'm ready to drill holes into my brand new, freshly painted trunk fish yet. So, I wanted to see if I can source another one of the same basic deck lid spoilers that I ran on my S15 when I had this kit. It's kind of just like a drag wing - it goes back like this and run.
The Trunk Area: A Work in Progress
For now, I'm using an alternative trunk wing that should give me a similar look without the hassle of drilling holes into my newly painted trunk fish. The alternative wing is essentially the same shape as the OEM wing but doesn't require any modifications to fit. This will allow me to get the job done without compromising the condition of my car's exterior. I'm considering a few other trim pieces and details down here, including an ABS delete panel that I was going to install earlier but ended up liking the color match on the factory part.
Audio Installation: Bringing the Sound to Life
One of my goals for this project is to have as much door panel and factory speakers as possible. I've managed to get some low-profile speakers to fit inside the doors, which should provide a nice balance between street manners and track performance. To ensure proper clearance with the cage, I'm planning to mount these speakers on the door itself, effectively sandwiching them out of the way. Additionally, I'll be using the factory housing for the speaker setup to maintain a clean look. However, before proceeding with painting, I'll need to shave off half the depth of the housing to fit it properly.
A Test Fit: The Final Check
I decided to test fit my new speaker setup before committing to paint and installation. To my surprise, it fit relatively well, with only minor adjustments needed. Painting the housing black would bring out its clean lines and make it blend seamlessly into the car's interior. I'm considering a green paint job for the roof wing as an alternative option.
News from Clutch Kickers: A Change of Plans
Unfortunately, we had to cancel my plans to compete with Colette's FC at Clutch Kickers due to several minor issues that needed attention. The car lacked essential lights and suspension components that I wasn't familiar with and didn't have enough time to address during our late-night session. Despite the setback, we managed to reassign my friend Trevor's Corvette Z06 C6 to take part in the event instead.
Trevor's Corvette: A New Opportunity
The shift in plans turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Trevor's Corvette is a beast - it makes over 600 horsepower and is something that Colette feels comfortable driving at Clutch Kickers. Although I was disappointed not to have my car compete, I'm excited about the new opportunity for Trevor. His Corvette has all sorts of cool merch available on his website, which always catches my eye when supporting fellow drifters.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up guys welcome to today's video the first thing that i'm going to do really quick not really going to be a big part of this video the 24 karat gold blitz the 10 000 wheels i want to get some photos of them on a few of my cars before i give them away don't be too mad they have been mounted before uh the guy that bought them never drove on them but mounted them i want to do the same to get some photos since i'll probably never own another set of 24 karat gold blitz so we're gonna go mount them on the s15 i'm gonna need to add a heck a lot of dumb camber to make them fit what it's gonna look so wheels already off the s15 got enough for photos but they're definitely not ideal we had to add way too much spacer to the front to get it to not hit the brake caliper and then that was just a little too pokey so anyway the plan is today to try to figure out what the heck was going on at the track yohan already fixed pretty much everything with the e36 hello hello everyone's getting their cars ready for clutch kickers marco's got his in the left sean's got his on the lift he stole my spare diff because my diff got trashed uh out in the dyno which we already knew but he pulled off the cover and it was like really trash so i don't even know how to last that long but the plan today to figure out what was going on with the s15 since at the track it kept uh getting a ton of air in the system and losing like a gallon of coolant so i'm gonna do as much diagnosis as i can to figure out what's going on before i pull the head on it all right so i've done this like 8 million times at the track but i'm just going to do it again just to be absolutely sure um i think what i'm also going to probably end up doing too is the reverse of this and i'm going to pressurize the cylinders with a leak down tester and see if i get bubbles coming out of the coolant on the radiator cap which would indicate a head gasket issue one of my other theories is that the coolant passage on the intake side of the motor that goes in the intake manifold maybe we're getting a leak there we'll see theory number one holds way more than 20 psi that ain't telling me one thing that kind of makes me a little bit nervous of maybe a head gasket issue is seeing what appears to be some of the shellac compound aggregating around like the radiator cap area so if we're trying to be really literal about this 20 psi radiator pressure probably not enough to leak into a cylinder but 120 to say 180 psi of cylinder compression would be enough in theory to get combustion into the radiator now they make a tester that tests for combustion in your radiator fluid but i haven't had good luck with them in the past and i don't really trust them so we're going to do the old-school methods for trying to figure this out so i have a finding it's not a good one cylinder number two and three have what appears to be some sort of detonation you can see how the uh plug has kind of like withered away on the tip um if i understand correctly that could also be caused by water entering into the cylinder so either we have a lean event on cylinder two and three or the head is maybe lifting a little bit in the middle i don't know which is more likely i have feeling it's the head but we're gonna see i'm only gonna mess up the pistons too much because that'd be really annoying is that just carbon buildup yeah yeah it's usually around the edge of the pistons where you would see detonation so we don't really have any seaming issue on the compression side now we'll pressurize the cylinders and see what happens hear that yeah it's coming from the hole i squeezed the water and i got pissed off huh just weird coincidence isn't it yeah something in the intake manifold sides of whistling really i guess this side's leaking a lot more i can hear what you're saying so under one and three so far definitely have quite a bit more leakage than uh sunder iv i feel like between these srs and r32 like this is like all too common in my video so i'm sorry if this is like super redundant uh we did find a little coolant leak once i can get up to 25 psi which is way more than the cap pressure started squirting out of here which would explain all of this on all the intercooler piping which i don't remember seeing before maybe they're like water dripping down hitting the fan so there's a chance maybe all my water isn't disappearing because the head gasket but that still doesn't explain why cylinder number two and three have what appears to be quite a bit of detonation so i'm gonna pull the injectors out throw them on the flow tester uh in the event you know brand new fuel lines maybe something got in them and maybe there's a little piece stuck on them so they're not flowing as well so i'll rule that out i just want to rule everything out i can before i end up pulling the engine to pull the head off for no reason i know this is the most exciting in the world guys i'm very much so over this thing but i need a little bit of closure it's driving me nuts not knowing what's been going on with it so i gotta put some time into it to figure it out thankfully uh this radium rail once you pull off the upper half of the plenum is very easily serviceable uh as i spill all my fuel on the floor sorry for trying to keep these guys in order and the spray pattern looks pretty dang similar yeah you'd expect the two and three would be the lowest i don't really trust this that much just because i know that this machine typically leaks a little bit in the back end but generally speaking given what i saw i would expect it to be like down here so it leads me to think that something to do with the failing head gasket and water getting into the cylinders is what caused that more so than like a lean event before you guys go def uh colette's car is outside her three rotor she's taking it into clutch kickers this weekend but she wants me to do a couple little corner slides i don't know if this will make it on my channel or if we'll make it on hers but it'll be my first time ever grabbing a three rotor not my first time drifting on fc but she's let the car on a little bit she wants me to get the seal approval before she commits to taking about kickers so um i'm so scared my ears are ringing so bad i thought the helmet would help it is painful yeah it's like someone's sticking their nails inside of your eardrum and then going it's cool though it drifts the power is good yeah yeah uh um well we had a little team meeting about her car over there i'm very stoked for her to drive at clutch kickers i think she's gonna do great i'm excited for you guys to see her video that she made uh the whole process of this car coming up she's been away in california but now that it's back and like she's right on the cusp of getting to thoroughly enjoy it and what i think will be a fairly competitive car you know there'll be some bugs to work out here and there but overall the feedback that i had for her probably the worst thing is just like it's loud which sounds stupid but i've never driven a car before to where you it incites fear in you to floor it because it hurts your eardrum so much i have a helmet that has like little cups over your ears and like that will help if you've ever been to like a concert imagine putting your ear next to like the most treble speaker there like it's literally just a tweeter this big and you're pressing your ear up against it and someone's just playing the grungiest game to the moon third string down on the guitar and your ears like tingling i just i've never had that experience in the car either where i'm literally like having to wear a headset because it's so loud and it's too bad to even enjoy it i feel like i was really excited for this car as it would be loud and enjoyable rotary noises and it just you can't even hear the rotary noises because you just feel pain i genuinely think you have a chance at literally winning all the clutch kickers just because of the fact your competition is going to go death i like that like if i had to tandem next to that thing i would probably up so much like it is like literally that was weird i did not play this song stop yeah it doesn't happen in our shop honestly if you could real quick like fab it up so literally just think about it like on your you can scare them on your leads so have the exhaust go back over the left side so on entry you just blow out their eardrums then yeah just get like a six foot exhaust pipe with a v band and then for each side you're driving just spin it and aim it at the other side yeah let me let me do that in a matter of hours before we don't load up the worst thing is like i cleaned my ears this morning and i feel like it made the pain that much worse like i lost all the damping in my ears that would help dampening isolate that sound like genuinely i feel like i just gave the ear piercing pitch the most clear path to my brain he had bc ears now he's got racing into i'll yours you your books no you got to order me and some tacos in this video i want to try the loose ends with interior and show you guys the final product of what my ideal street drift car interior is going to be in the meantime um i wanted to show you i got my roof wing for this car in which is going to help tie the work great might not let's see quick test fit before i lay some black paint on this thing not too bad would look sick if i painted a green but black easy shout out mic on the plastic paint plug guys it was a late night unfortunately i have bad news i don't want to spoil this for you but you're going to inevitably see in my video and at clutch kickers uh last night we were going over colette's fc
