The Latest Android Update: What's New with 2.3 Gingerbread and Beyond?
The latest iteration of the Android operating system is Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which has been rolled out to various phone manufacturers. As we can expect that code name for phones will change in a minute, let's take a look at what's new with this update.
One of the main features of Android 2.3 Gingerbread is its UI overhaul, which brings a lot of the features from Honeycomb, the latest version of Android designed for tablets. The new design is more streamlined and user-friendly, making it easier to navigate through menus and settings.
Another feature that's being touted as a major improvement is support for 720p video playback using Adobe Flash Player. This means that users will be able to play high-definition videos on their devices without any issues.
The latest version of Android also seems to be converging the tablet and phone experiences, with features like USB-on-the-go and DLNA streaming becoming more widespread.
In addition to these features, Google is expected to announce several other major updates at its upcoming conference. One of the most highly anticipated features is Google Music, which promises to revolutionize the way we store and access our music collections.
For now, though, let's take a closer look at some of the specific details behind Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
Android 2.3 Gingerbread is definitely going to start messing up these code names as why not in a minute but uh the least one is gingerbread for the phones um now that both of them have some pros and cons but what and what Google is going to do with Android 3.1 is going to combine them so you know you'll be able to get ice cream on both your phone and on your tablet I'm going to try to stop saying this because I'm going to really mess it up but anyway uh the latest version of Android really seems to be a convergence it's going to bring a lot of the features from Honeycomb to the phones so that what that means is a major UI overhaul now not really that the Android UI is all that awful or anything like that but what this is going to do is it's going to bring it a lot more in line with the kind of the the Tron styling of uh honeycomb and put it on the phones as well as on the tablets.
Something else this seems to support is 720p video using Adobe Flash Player so in fact one of the biggest things that why I started talking about this is because Adobe on if you go went to the Android market a couple of days ago they actually were talking about you need 3.1 which of course that was a little bit of a snafu there but uh basically what it's going to be is with 3.1 you can download Flash Player which will have full support for Hardware acceleration which allow you to play 720p Flash videos no problem on most phones most tablets not everything of course but on most of them.
Guys that's about the major things there are of course going to be other major features that will be be announced um one thing that's probably this very very likely to happen is Google Music we've been hearing a lot about that of course the specifics and all that kind of stuff will probably be announced at Google I/O I believe two weeks or so from now.
Do I think 4.3 Ice Cream is going to be the best Android OS U? I think 3.1 one Ice Cream is going to be a great OS uh Android's great um I'm actually really considering switching over to Android um but not switching over but I'm really considering getting myself an Android phone and using it fulltime.
Well, what's the best Improvement in my opinion probably be is the UI overhaul um you know I I don't know exactly what it's going to look like well of course like I said we'll probably see that in the next week or two but uh most likely it will be a take a lot from honeycomb honey yeah honeycomb right yeah uh whatever the current 3.0 release is and bring a lot of that over to the uh to the phones.
Guys, this is a little bit of an informal D3 live um I they're trolling me so hard I can't even pay attention but uh it's I'm gonna blame Google for coming up with all kinds of names and stuff um does 4.3 honeycomb come with ice cream yeah it does okay enough enough of the questions anyway uh if you guys found this helpful or you enjoyed and I doubt any of you did but if you did be sure to hit the Subscribe button above you can watch all my latest content including D3 live which I do every Saturday at 3:00 Eastern time so you can watch the pre-recorded episodes live on YouTube or you can come and troll me in person in real life in real time on Blog TV
