The Insane Price of a Ferrari FF: A Hands-On Review
I just got back from a drive in the Ferrari FF, and I have to say, it's not what I expected. I thought it would be a supercar, but it feels more like an Audi or BMW. Still, when you put your foot down, that V12 engine roars to life, and you're reminded of why this car is considered one of the fastest four-seaters in the world.
I was at the dealership, looking at the specs, when I asked about the price. The sticker shock was immediate: $288,000 for a spot on a $2,000,000 Ferrari FF. The dealer explained that it's due to the high demand and limited supply of this particular model. But I digress.
As we walked towards the car, I noticed the shields on the fenders were an option, priced at $1,600. The dealer was teasing me about how expensive they were, but I didn't mind – after all, it's a Ferrari FF. We also saw that carbon fiber steering wheels are available for an additional $5,000.
The car itself is quite impressive, with features like forged rims, which cost $5,999. But what really caught my attention was the analog lock on the driver's side door. It's one of the last Ferraris to be sold with this feature, and it makes me feel a bit nostalgic for the old days.
As we drove away from the dealership, I couldn't help but think about how affordable the Ferrari FF is. Depending on who you are, this car can be had at a relatively reasonable price. But if you're looking for a supercar experience, you might be disappointed.
After all, the Ferrari FF doesn't feel like a supercar – it feels more like an Audi or BMW. But when you put your foot down, that V12 engine roars to life, and you're reminded of why this car is considered one of the fastest four-seaters in the world.
As we drove through the Canyons of Marinello in Southern California, I realized that the Ferrari FF is a practical car that can handle daily driving duties. It's got plenty of room for passengers and cargo, making it perfect for road trips or commuting to work.
But what really gets me excited about this car is its sound. When you're behind the wheel, you hear that V12 engine purring like a contented cat. It's music to my ears, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
So, is the Ferrari FF a real Ferrari? The answer is yes – it may not be a supercar, but it's still a Ferrari at heart. And if you're looking for a car that's practical, fast, and cool, then this might just be the car for you.

WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enthis right here is a Ferrari FF the most depreciated Ferrari on the used market today when the FF was new it cost over $300,000 but today you can buy one like this for like 80 that is way more depreciation than any other Ferrari in 10 years so what is it about this car that made it so much cheaper than the rest today we're going to drive it and see if it has everything to make it a real Ferrari then we're going to point out all the stuff that makes it weird enough to afford starting with how it looks I've always like these me too good looking car it's got very similar headlights to the 458 of that era yeah from the front it looks very Ferrari IE very M Nick if you just move your camera right over here this this is where it gets weird this what people don't like hatchback Ferrari four seats Not Unusual in Ferrari history they made a lot of four- seat Ferraris before this but the hatchback is definitely something that the purists were kind of confused about this was Ferrari's swing at giving people a more practical sports car that still had that pounding Thoroughbred heart under the hood yeah and that pounding THD heart we mean a very Ferrari V12 I mean I have no expectations of this thing being really practical it's a Ferrari but I've said it a million times the difference between a two-seater car and a four-seater car as far as practicality goes is night and day so why did they build this thing in the first place well in the early 2000s a little company called Porsche made a big car called The cayenne and people loved it it sold like Tums at a bubble gut convention Ferrari needed something that could kind of compete but they would never make an SUV the idea of a Ferrari SUV is sacriligious they would never change their mind so they built this the FF a Ferrari that could do everything from going to the track ripping up the Canyons or even to putting a whole bunch of stuff in it all right part of the appeal of the FF is that it is a Ferrari that could be your only car yeah so to test that we have a whole bunch of boxes full of our most prized possessions we're going to see how many of them we can fit in our new daily driver yeah we got to move all this stuff from point A to point B and this is the only car we have whoa strong all right oo like an SUV automatic pull these little levers seats go down very cool this comes out like so or not might be the other oh there we go oh James those that's my grandmother's fine China collection I know so please be careful I got it how much space we we got in here decent amount we don't have a lot of height we got some length yeah I don't know if my China is going to fit right now yeah we can leave it here should we put our flat screens yeah in flat scre so big flat screen big flat hey that's a premium 40in screen right there that is pretty impressive all right this flat screen CU we got dual monitor setup Gamers and then James what is this again this is uh Walt Disney's head oh let's uhoh I think if we go from the front so you got to pull up on this oh I don't know if Walt Disney's head I don't know if well if I go sideways well you're going to get all the goop in all the goop's going to fall out of it all right Walt Walt is safe and you okay I don't think this is going to fit in here but you can rock it on your lap we're not going very far H yeah I could do that there you go we just fit quite a bit of stuff in there I'd say more stuff than I could fit in my E30 for sure pretty dang practical I mean sort of for a Ferrari for a Ferrari I mean for a Ferrari for a Ferrari super practical if you make car videos with the X3 camera from today's sponsor insta 360 then you need this the official insta 360 dual triple suction cup car mount an all new accessory that'll level up your car videos it features an all metal base a carbon fiber telescopic support rod and un paralleled stabilization and with versatile mounting options you'll be able to 360 dual triple suction cup car mount it's safe it's stable and it's sturdy as hell to experience it yourself click the special link down below if you're hitting the track or going Offroad soon trust me you're going to want this just click that link to be an everyday car it has to be a family car meet our baby he's got to come with us luckily the Ferrari FF can accommodate a baby seat that comes with anchors for this very situation come on Jimmy come on Jimmy oh you look cool in your sunglasses I'm I mean it's not as easy as like an SUV no because it's got two doors that looks so convenient oh so why am I hearing noises what's going on in there James you got to pull some stuff out oh okay I would not do this it's already this is a fail for me already how's it going got one clip all right the seat is removable uh but we're good hey all right way better than I thought really yeah yeah like pretty easy yeah you don't even look that sweaty it's as advertised you pull like one cushion out and then there's the two HS and it's like clink clink Jimmy's secure and the automatic seat only crushes the seat just a little bit so that's great I mean if you're expecting the same amount of accessibility as some sort of SUV you ain't getting it with the f I mean there was definitely some contorting if you had a pre-existing condition uh that would keep you from being as limber as I am then yeah this would be damn near impossible it does work technically though yeah if you're a D1 athlete like myself then you can do it pretty easily so a baby can fit in the back big deal babies can fit almost anywhere how about a buff grown man there it goes oh that's that's coming in close I mean you have your seat pretty far back I could only fit in there in here if someone in front of me had really stuffy legs so the FF holds stuff like a daily let's see if it drives like a daily and after that let's see if it drives like a Ferrari visibility is great my seating position is awesome the hood is very long but I can see the front of the car the steering wheel is super adjustable and exactly what you want a Ferrari steering wheel to be I love that the blinkers are on a button I feel feel like cherla Clair when I signal I think all the steering wheel stuff makes it feel special it does like you hop in you're like oh my start button is on the wheel that's awesome the seats are pretty comfortable it feels normal it feels like just like a car like we're not like right next to each other I am having a very good time driving this car I mean dude it sounds it's incredible FF is powered by a 6.3 l naturally aspirated V12 making 651 horsepower that Rockets it to 60 in 3.4 seconds and does the quarter mile in just over 11 that's screaming dude dude it's fast as F and you can do all that with a baby seat in the back oh yeah there are a lot of Beeps in this car there's a lot of beeps I think it's like a front sensor since the nose is so long maybe not only is this thing extremely powerful but it's also four-wheel drive not all-wheel drive four-wheel drive because there's a transmission on the front of the engine connected to the front of the crankshaft that powers the front wheels it's a two-speed transmission in the front to match a seven-speed transmission in the back so depending on what gear you're in it's either in that first or second gear to match the the rear wheels and then in fifth gear it just becomes rear wheel drive only so Ferrari decided not to use a conventional all-wheel drive system with a center differential or transfer case or anything like that cuz that's heavy it's heavy takes up a lot of space and the transmission is actually in the back of the car they didn't want to have to have power going down one drive shaft and then back to the front with another one which would create an even wider Center tunnel here so it makes sense but it's also so complicated I mean they really did make this I think only for ski trips is that entire four-wheel drive system cuz it's not for like launches no you're not supposed to use it for launches and the front transmission is notoriously kind kind of fragile yeah the one in this car has been replaced yeah actually both transmissions in this car have been repaired and replaced you have to replace the front transmission as often as you have to replace brake discs because they're carbon Ceramics and they last about 40,000 miles it's crazy it's just insane the owner of this car he's telling us like oh it's a pretty high mileage one I'm like oh so like 100,000 he's like no it's like 43 43,000 like any other car that is like baby that was cool we were in seventh and I hammered it and shift it down to Fourth hell yeah I would love to take just like an epic road trip with this thing I'd love to just you're like oh it's Friday let's go I'm going up to s s dude we get some sourdough bread and say what's up to E40 eat some real Chinese food for once but you will be stopping a whole lot because the best fuel economy you're going to get in this thing is in the teens and if you're driving like this like low single digits I bet Ferrari only sold 2,291 ffs from 2012 to 2016 which is not a lot for contrast porsa sold over 22,000 panamas in 2009 alone so nearly every car that Ferrari has built has been just rear wheeel drive and you know the all-wheel drive nature of this car probably does add to its Black Sheep status in the the family but I don't really think that explains the depreciation what might help explain a little bit is when you learn that when that front transmission breaks it can cost you $30 to $50,000 to get it fixed from Ferrari that's an insane price to repair something but does it really explain the depreciation all right so this car I have the build sheet for it actually it was optioned to $330,000 I'm looking at these options right now they are crazy expensive James I'm going to read these options I want you to guess the price of each of them all right this is a big ticket one the front suspension lift system to help you get over big bumps how much do you think that went for uh $155,000 15,000 way over uh yeah that's a almost $5,800 option right there bargain for Ferrari that is a bargain I'll do a little easier one how about the red brake calipers red brake calibers I could I mean I don't know $800 oh 1,44 $5 I mean that's still low for Ferrari is it is there anything else different about them other than the fact that they're red it just says red break Cal okay great how much do you think it cost to have the horses stitched onto the headrest two grand spot on $288 I just got it done in mind thought $2,000 for this yeah dude two grand $288 it's like the size of a polo shirt everything on here is an option that carbon steering wheel that's actually pretty expensive at $5,000 grand for the car $400 for the carbon fiber steering wheel wow rumor this is this is 2012 so carbon fiber still pretty hot at that time not as ubiquitous also the shields on the fenders there I was noticing those as we were walking up these shields right here are actually an option those are a 1,6 $1,000 $1,623 hold on I mean we were kind of giving them a little bit of Guff for these shields being so expensive this is like a different Fender yeah cuz it has it's inlaid into it so it's a different you don't have these shields they manufactured a completely different fender for these shields but they didn't manufacture completely different fender for the North American Market cuz it looks like they bought this from Tractor Supply drilled a hole and just popped it right on oh these are forged rims actually these are one of the pricier options on the car at $5,999 honestly for forged wheels on a Ferrari that sounds like a bargain that is a super bargain another very interesting feature the driver side actually has a an analog lock for the door that you put your key into yeah so here's the lock right there on the door put the key in there I believe this is one of the last Ferraris to be sold with one of these locks in the door that makes me feel poor so the insane starting price and the expensive options left the Ferrari FF plenty of room to fall in price when it came to the used car market so depending on who you are the Ferrari F f is Affordable and we've proven today that it's practical and comfortable to drive to work but is it a Ferrari well to see we're going to take it where it belongs the Canyons of Marinello Southern California it's good drive dude Ferrari Clan is the fastest four-seater car in the world at the time but you know it's not a superar though no so I mean we've been driving it around all day and it does not feel at all Supercar no it feels like you're driving an Audi or a BMW or something does yeah it's not until you put your foot in it and hear that V12 that you're like oh yeah I am in a Ferrari some things on this car in particular are kind of falling apart a little bit it but I mean out here like I'm driving a V12 Ferrari in the canyon I don't care about any of that anymore I mean that sounds like what you're taught of car sounds like this car is practical it's super fast it's good looking yeah it drives really really well why did it go away I think that the move to SUVs is really a sign of people's unwillingness to compromise people want exactly what they want exactly when they want it people are upset when their Uber is 5 minutes late so I want something that is really practical has four doors I can fit a mini fridge and a set of golf clubs in and I want it to sound like a freaking Ferrari well guess what pal you can get one in 2026 because they are currently sold out all right so Nolan is the FF a real Ferrari yes is it weird yes is it affordable
