E46 BMW Custom exhaust and headers_ Sound review in car!

**A New Exhaust System for My BMW**

I recently took my BMW to True Centre Automotive in Guelph, Canada, where I was hoping to get some exhaust work done. With an upcoming track day on Sunday and a desire to install catalytic converters to reduce emissions, I knew that this would be a great opportunity to upgrade my car's exhaust system. The technicians at True Centre were happy to help me out, and they got to work installing two High Flow Magnaflow catalytic converters, an x-pipe, a secondary resonator, and a Magnaflow muffler.

**The Installation Process**

As I watched the installation process unfold, I was excited to see how everything would come together. The technicians started by connecting the down pipes directly to the new catalytic converters. From there, they installed the x-pipe, which allowed for more airflow and helped to smooth out the sound of the exhaust. Next, they added a secondary resonator, which further reduced the noise and improved the overall tone of the system. Finally, they connected the muffler, which wrapped up the entire exhaust system.

**The Resulting Sound**

I was eager to hear how the new exhaust system would sound, and I wasn't disappointed. With the existing headers already producing a very loud sound, I expected that the catalytic converters and x-pipe would help to reduce the noise. However, the sound of the exhaust was still quite pronounced, with a deep rumble emanating from beneath the car. As I listened intently, I realized that the system produced a surprisingly smooth and even sound, particularly above 5,000 rpm.

**The Sound in the Cabin**

As I drove my car back to True Centre Automotive, I was curious to see how the new exhaust system would sound inside the cabin. With the windows rolled up and the air conditioning on, I was prepared for a potentially noisy ride. However, when I started the engine and shifted into first gear, I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet the interior was. The sound of the exhaust was muffled to some extent, allowing me to have a conversation with the technician who had installed the new system.

**Testing the Exhaust System**

To further test the exhaust system, the technician put my car through its paces on the track. As we accelerated down the straightaway and braked for turns, I could hear the sound of the exhaust changing pitch and tone. While the system was certainly loud, it was also smooth and well-balanced. The x-pipe and secondary resonator seemed to do a great job of reducing the noise, allowing me to focus on the driving experience.

**Conclusion**

Overall, I am very pleased with the new exhaust system installed by True Centre Automotive. From the sound to the performance, everything seems to be working together in harmony. While it's still not as quiet as some other exhaust systems on the market, the sound of the exhaust is surprisingly smooth and well-balanced. If you're a track enthusiast who values the sound of your car's engine, this may be the exhaust system for you.

**Recommendation**

I would highly recommend True Centre Automotive to anyone looking to upgrade their BMW's exhaust system. The team is friendly, knowledgeable, and skilled, and they took care to understand my specific needs and preferences throughout the installation process. While the price was certainly reasonable, I was a bit surprised by how efficiently they were able to install everything in such a short amount of time.

**Rating**

I would give True Centre Automotive a rating of 8 out of 10. The only reason I wouldn't give them a perfect score is that the installation process took less than an hour, which seemed a bit rushed considering the complexity of the work involved. However, overall, I was thoroughly impressed with their professionalism and attention to detail.

**The Price**

As for the price, I would say that it was extremely reasonable considering the quality of the exhaust system installed. The technicians provided me with detailed estimates and explained every aspect of the installation process, which helped to alleviate any concerns I may have had about the cost. In the end, I left True Centre Automotive feeling confident that my car's exhaust system had been upgraded for good reason.

**The Track Day**

Finally, I would like to mention that the new exhaust system performed admirably on the track day. As we drove around the circuit, I could hear the sound of the exhaust changing pitch and tone in response to changes in engine speed and throttle position. While it was certainly loud at times, the system seemed well-balanced and smooth, allowing me to focus on driving and enjoying the experience.

**The Rear Interior**

One aspect that I found interesting was how the removal of my rear interior affected the sound of the exhaust. With the seats and other components removed, I could hear the sound of the exhaust more clearly than if they were still in place. This allowed me to better appreciate the quality of the installation and the sound of the exhaust system.

**The Sound at 2500 RPM**

As I drove around the track, I noticed that the sound of the exhaust was particularly smooth and even at 2500 rpm. The x-pipe seemed to be doing a great job of reducing the noise, allowing me to focus on the driving experience. This was an unexpected bonus, as I had been worried that the system would be too loud or boomy.

**The Sound with the Windows Rolled Down**

When I started the engine and rolled down the windows, I was prepared for a potentially noisy ride. However, when I shifted into first gear and began to accelerate, I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet the interior was. The sound of the exhaust was muffled to some extent, allowing me to have a conversation with my driving partners.

**The Sound of the Exhaust**

Overall, I would say that the sound of the exhaust is one of the best things about this system. It's smooth, well-balanced, and surprisingly quiet at times. While it may not be as quiet as some other exhaust systems on the market, it's certainly an improvement over my old exhaust system.

**The Performance**

In addition to its great sound, the new exhaust system also performed admirably on the track day. As we drove around the circuit, I could hear the sound of the engine changing pitch and tone in response to changes in speed and throttle position. While it was certainly loud at times, the system seemed well-balanced and smooth, allowing me to focus on driving.

**The Conclusion**

In conclusion, I am thoroughly impressed with the new exhaust system installed by True Centre Automotive. From its sound to its performance, everything seems to be working together in harmony. If you're a track enthusiast who values the sound of your car's engine, this may be the exhaust system for you.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enif you followed along on my road to Time Attack series you would know that I swapped the engine in my BMW track car and added headers at the same time as a result everything went together very quickly and the exhaust is Amma's an ideal there were no catalytic converters and I wasn't a huge fan of the sound now that I have a chance I headed to a local shop to get something proper installed I had some parts laying around so I was hoping that could put something together for me here is a quick vlog and a review of the setup alright we are over at true centre automotive in Guelph I'm just getting some exhaust work done actually these guys have hooked me up I got a track day on Sunday and I want some catalytic converters in because environment so I'm gonna get those installed right now so what we're doing is we're going right from the the down pipes into two High Flow Magnaflow catalytic converters and then from there there's an x-pipe don't know how that's gonna sound too excited to hear that and then into the second resonator and then into a Magnaflow muffler so I'm pretty excited to actually get this whole thing in I got it a guy had a BMW at 4 but it doesn't quite fit so they had to do a lot of custom work so let's go take a look and see kind of what they're doing it's all going in that's very exciting I can't wait to see what it looks like in the end right cool I'm pumped to hear how it sounds it was already super super loud with the the headers right so this should the cats will decrease the sound a little bit honestly it was a little bit ridiculous it was like excessively loud mellowed and I think I had an exhaust leak right at the flange so this will hopefully maybe quiet it down a little bit and maybe smooth out the tone and the x-pipe should get rid of some of the rasp right so who knows this could be a very very good sound that could be hopefully it's still kind of loud because honestly it was very cool especially on the track when it bounces off the walls and the trees it's just kind of bellowed and it sounded really really good inside the cabin alright just pick my car up from true center automotive got the new exhaust installed so what we did was from the headers back it goes to High Flow Magnaflow High Flow Magnaflow catalytic converters an x-pipe the secondary resonator is in and a Magnaflow muffler so it should sound good and loud you know what still a BMW so it's actually not that loud in here he started for me outside you know what it's better in here now I'm honest open the window for you it sounds good be on your way out get out of my way that's good the sound is rather heavy down low but above 5,000 rpm it opens up into a nice inline six wheel alright so for you that drive your car mostly on the road and a little bit on the track this is not the exhaust for you actually you know what it might be who you are the downshift listen to this down in a second that's good alright so got the windows up now my air conditioning turned on because we're not full race car yet let's see what it's like drone wise feel it vibrating remember I have the rear interior removed so it'll be a little bit louder in here than it would for someone else all right you know what I'm at 2500 rpm and fourth gear there is drone but it's tolerable having a conversation with you right now I'm not yelling I'm not shouting and if I let off a little bit it's alright just 2600 right now there's not that much noise and you'd smell wakes up cool I'm okay with that so true center automotive they hooked me up that was uh that was quick and that was painless and he took care of me there he's like buddy I like race cars you like race cars we're gonna make this work for you so it gave them literally a smattering of parts and him and his guys put it together and what they thought was the the best and most efficient and most high flowingly impossible and it sounds good really how could you complain about that good price too it's loud enough now without a doubt that I'm not going to be worried about not hearing what my engine is doing on the track that's very very important even with the windows open it's loud enough that I can hear at the higher rev range that I can hear what the engine is doing right that's one of the reasons why recently I was in the rain at Mosport and I caught the slide that I had started because I heard the engine go Brown really really loudly it was actually just a little bit quieter than this is now with that particular setup that was like an emergency so that long story anyway that that was allowed me to to back off the throttle and go to a balanced throttle and just deal with a little bit of a fishtail as opposed to spinning the car backfires that's pretty good satisfied thank you so your best is a 128 8 that's terrible I see you are very good on camera youif you followed along on my road to Time Attack series you would know that I swapped the
