How to Make money selling MacBooks on eBay! _ Episode 1

**Upgrading and Flipping a Laptop**

I'm pretty pleased with the condition of this laptop considering how little I paid for it already, and we're in so looks pretty good pretty clean in here. We have our hard drive bracket that's excellent - we don't have to replace that, let's check the RAM. So this is some pretty nice RAM - Samsung Ram, which is good stuff here. Now the one thing that didn't come with this computer that I it didn't say in the listing but that I kind of figured where these screws that you have to put in the side of the hard drive to mount it in there. So I ordered them off Amazon, and they're only about $7 - not really a big expense.

Uh-huh, so we actually have enough here for two hard drives which is perfect because I might need those in the future. All right, so now I have the mounting screws installed all we have to do is plug in the hard drive and put it in its a little socket, right there - screw that back into place. Now you'll notice that almost all of this review was just done with a little Phillips head screwdriver - not terribly difficult. I did need a different screwdriver for the mounting screws but that came with the screws so this is a pretty nice little hard drive, pretty nice little kit.

Alright, so now we have that upgraded every component is here - we can screw the back plate back on and we're gonna go ahead and install Mac OS Sierra. And there we go - what I'm gonna do is install Sierra, get this thing all set up clean the computer, and then I'll come back and I'll show you what it looks like afterwards.

**A Successful Flip**

It's a couple of days later, and I actually ran into an issue with this computer. After I installed Mac OS Sierra, the thing was running incredibly slow - like to get put in perspective, I ran Cinebench on the thing, and it scored 21 - that's not that, that's not ideal. Eventually, I discovered that whoever sent this to me had put a super cheap battery, and this thing must have cost $8 the battery was absolute garbage, for whatever reason, it was causing the entire computer to be really lethargic and sis alone so I had to replace the battery.

I put a genuine Apple battery in it - that I got for $40 bucks, and the computer is all fine. In fact, just sold this computer out all right, let's run through the total cost that I put into this computer. The computer itself was $280; I spent $27 on a charger; I spent $60 on SSHD that I showed here - it's a Fire CUDA 1 Terabyte hard drive, which is one of the best options to put in these flips people really like SSHDS because you get a lot of storage and pretty fast storage and it's fairly affordable for flipping. So our total investment is four hundred and seven dollars.

So after fees, that's a profit of about $85 - which isn't that much money but it was a pretty easy flip when you think about it this is passive income so the computer turned out quite nicely shipping was easy all I had to do was put the computer back in the box that it came in. And yeah, I'm very pleased with the way this turned out.

**Moving Forward**

The computer sold in about two to three days after I listed it - it was pretty easy process. All right now moving forward with this series, I have a couple more things in the works for you guys. If you are on eBay and you see something that you think would be interesting that I should make a video about flipping post that eBay link down below and I will invest my money, I will flip that thing and I will make a video for it.

**Additional Notes**

I know this video is not the most detailed - it's not really meant to be. It'd be very difficult to do a step-by-step process with everything you do because this whole process is kind of spread out over the course of a couple weeks but definitely, if you have any questions leave those down in the comments section I'll try to answer as many as I can I'll try to answer them in future videos that I do on this subject and basically just make sure you're subscribed to make sure you hit that little bell to get notifications when I post more of these types of videos.

And I will see you guys in the next one.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enlately I've made a couple videos about getting really good deals on eBay for MacBook Pros those videos are listed down below but I thought since since I was able to find such good deals I figured I would try to make a series that would sort of help you guys make some money buying and selling MacBook Pros on ebay I figured at first I was going to just do sort of tips and tricks but I don't have that much experience so I figured what I'm gonna do is learn along with you and I'm gonna put my money where my mouth is and in every single episode I'm going to be actually flipping a macbook pro on ebay this week we have this guy alright so what I'm gonna do now is cut to my upgrade camera and we're going to take a look inside this thing and go through the upgrade process to get this ready for flipping okay so what I have here is a late 2011 MacBook Pro with the upgraded specs so it has the better processor and the better graphics card which is pretty nice I paid two hundred and eighty dollars for this laptop so it's a little bit dirty we're gonna go ahead and test a power on the listing said it did not have a hard drive so that's good we've got a light there so we have activity and I'm gonna go ahead and put this one terabyte sshd in here so this is an SS HD it has I think eight or 16 gigabytes of flash storage on here as well as you know the rest of the one terabyte mechanical storage so this is gonna be a pretty decent upgrade for this for this guy and this will only run you about sixty dollars so pretty inexpensive upgrade this guy's already has eight gigabytes of RAM in it so that saved me another sixty or so dollars upgrading from four gigabytes so let's go ahead and open this guy up so you can already see that we've got some scuffs on the bottom but importantly none of these are dense so doesn't look like the laptop has been dropped all the corners look good I'm pretty I'm pretty pleased with the condition of this laptop
