Welcome to Branton Motorsports Park, where the GTR World Cup is underway. Today, we're focusing on the DCT class dual clutch transmission, which opens up to any make and model of car. This class includes Lamborghinis and R8s, with many shops building them into drag cars. One such shop is Hefner, who has built a custom R8 that's ready to take on the competition.

We're here with Jason Heffner himself, the owner of this incredible machine. "I've been away from drag racing for a long time," he says, "but I'm excited to get back behind the wheel and compete in this event." His team at Hefner Performance has put together an amazing car, which is not only stunning in appearance but also packed with performance upgrades.

The DCT class is known for its high-speed racing, and Heffner's R8 is no exception. With a twin-turbocharged engine producing over 1,000 horsepower, this car is capable of reaching incredible speeds. people are drag racing them so more shops are building including hefner i think they're the only r8 or lambo so far today that's running eight so that's pretty impressive we're gonna see what the setup was on the car and talk to jason about what all they're planning on doing with it mr jason heffner himself how's it going man it's it's going pretty good man having a good weekend so far how you doing good i'm doing good and especially with the dct class there's a lot of variety here in cars i don't normally see drag race just like this r8 you have here so far i've been uh an 876 at 163 okay with the stock engine with a stock engine yeah the the stock it's a stock engine in the car uh we did a clutch a turbo system a motec engine management system put a tune on it and uh i'm really enjoying this car i mean i i love the r8s to begin with i actually bought this car oh that's your personal car this is my car uh about a month ago i heard about this dc dct class so i heard about the class i think i bought the car that day really well i mean i only had a month to build a car right get it find it get it here build it we haven't had much that we can get to the drag strip with in a while so i mean that's kind of where my roots are so i'm excited to get back to the drag strip um you know we were out here earlier this week had a couple customers out to the track to the track that have never been to the drag strip before so man it's kind of fun to like bring some guys into it and and uh it's kind of feeling like the good old days i know a lot of the r8 and lambo guys are used to roll racing and that kind of stuff are you getting a lot more customers that are requesting this kind of build out of you this exact package this is probably our most popular package how much power is it making so this car we do the stock engine the clutch the turbo system and the engine management system i had this car make 1268 to the wheels on the pump e85 on the stock engine on the stock engine damn um with my own personal car i turned it up a little more you know it's it's a development vehicle right so we kind of find where the limits are and like this weekend ultimately my limitation is what i can do with this track on these tires so avoiding wheel hop is a is a high priority okay um the class rules limit us to an eight five zero e.t right i mean ultimately if i can be kind of front of the field for the weekend and drive the car home uh i'm good with that you know it's just for the first event for the car in the short amount of time we had to get it together you know i'll be pretty happy with that gotcha anytime i go quicker than i've ever been it's exciting right there you go there you go so i mean i hate to get it all in one day well good luck this weekend like i said and thank you so much for talking to me no problem oh he barely got him he had to run him down 880. all right jason you need to work on your reaction time a little bit but looks like you reeled him in pretty strong there that was pretty awesome we'll see what happens 316 has bead locks all the way around looks really messy no rear bumper so you can see all the turbo goodness hefners looks pretty much stock but it makes like 1300 horsepower 877 161 for jason heffner man you made that one look easy 877 with 160 161 i think 161 162 uh man i knew i couldn't be napping on the tree again so man what can you do you know go up cut a light you know send it down there and uh you know we go another round so well under the third round now yes man i i love the car i mean it just it doesn't get a whole lot better i did see you drove it you drove it here today didn't you i did i mean i've been driving the car back and forth uh to the track every day it's not that i'm trying to make a statement doing that um it's important to me to get temperature in all of the components in the car right i mean this isn't just a drag car this is the car you want people to enjoy and then go r8 going up against uh this orange performante another twin turbo car i think they both make about 13 to 13.50 a piece we'll see if he can keep this going other than the hefner twin turbo sticker you would have no idea no idea 891 and 158 for hefner moving on hell yeah i think we'll have a buy run this next run so we're going straight to the finals then if that's the case really yeah oh hell yeah the orange performante left a little early but that still jason hefner just did an 891 at 158 keeping it in the eights he's moving on to semifinals but his guys just said that he automatically gets a bye and he gets to move on to the finals i'm gonna go confirm that with him but still in it he could win this whole thing all right so you did get the buy for the saint paul you're just going to break there's no sense in heating up the clutch and the trans and like you know these transmissions are pretty sensitive to fluid temperature so they might be calling us back up three minutes later so sure her ams built alpha princess in the left lane and jason heffner wins with a 9 32 brooke left early she red lit there like i said guys racing is racing uh brook left early she red lit and hefner takes home the win dct class dtr world cup 2021 hefner is the winner all right and i know that's probably not the way you wanted to win but it's still a win how do you feel how the car did this weekend there you just bought it a month i mean like there is there is there is not any more that i could ask out of that car and my guys at the shop and i mean like this this car from start to finish from like calling chicago motor cars getting the car down here you know dodson motorsports um you know getting his parts for the trans and the clutch my team at hefner performance getting the car together i mean my wife dealing with not seeing me for like days on end because we had to get this thing together real quick i mean you know for for the first event for this car like there's no way you could ask for more out of this thing right i'm gonna drive this thing out the front gate hell yeah and pull it in my garage drive it to work tomorrow and man it you know like it just doesn't get better than that i've been away from the dragster for a long time man i've been dying to get back and just well this is a great way to come back to it man i'm i'm super calm man like everything about this event
