The Power and Aggression of the Porsche GT2 RS

It's so powerful it's so urgent oh oh man yeah it's so aggressive but and you can actually feel that it's it's trying to put that power down but it is a lot to handle for those rear tires now I do believe that it's all as widow makerly oh as a 993 or even the 996 because you do have traction control and stability control and stuff but this is a really good package with this little tune on there oh the sound is just it reminds me of that 9ff that we drove that 1200 horsepower it's it's a bit of the same sound it gives me like vietnam flashbacks you know with those flashes in my in my head now.

The GT2 RS is a rare car, with only around 1242 units produced. This is less than the number of Carrera GTs made, making it an extremely exclusive vehicle. The GT2 RS has 620 horsepower, which is pretty mental oh man it just the power is just always there it's insane okay so zero to 100 in the stock GT2 uh is supposed to be done in 3.7 seconds but I do think you would be you know you're you're a very good shifter and driver if you can do a 3.7 in a car like this uh but with with this 620 i don't know it's very fast let's find out oh man that pulls oh that's fast holy moly oh those gear pools just happened so quickly that you don't really notice how fast that speedo is going but it is taking some big steps that speedo.

One of the coolest things about Porsche GT cars, including the GT2 and its RS variant, is their unique character. Each car feels distinct from the others, with its own personality and quirks. The GT2 was originally designed as a homologation car for the 993 generation, and it has that raw, unbridled energy that's hard to match. The addition of turbo power takes it to a whole new level, making it feel like a rocket ship on wheels.

From 100 to 200 miles per hour, this car is absolutely breathtaking. With a time of 6.21 seconds, it's actually the fourth quickest manual car we've ever tested, and one of the fastest Porsche GT2 cars ever made. The power delivery is seamless, with that unmistakable sound that gives you chills every time. It's like riding on a cloud, but with an insane amount of power behind you.

The chassis setup on this car is impeccable, with carbon ceramics holding everything together. And with 325 horsepower to put down on the road, it's no wonder that the GT2 RS feels so special. The manual gearbox is a work of art, with precise shifting and a clutch that requires finesse to manage. It's like driving a precision instrument, where every shift counts.

I have to say, I prefer this to the 991 GT2 RS. I love the manual gearbox on this car; it makes it feel so special, and those in-gear shifts make it feel like you're moving faster than you actually are. And that super heavy clutch? It's an adventure every time you need to shift. But for all its quirks, this is a car that feels at home with 620 horsepower under the bonnet.

Despite our best efforts, things didn't go exactly as planned during our test drive. But it was worth it. If you're looking for a driving experience like no other, look no further than the Porsche GT2 RS. With its insane power, precise handling, and incredible sound, this car is an experience you'll never forget.

is freaking awesome they have an old 911 as well which is also super cool so go check them out now this car they bought this car in monaco um it is actually black so it's been wrapped in this matte olive green but it's actually a black car and they thought they were buying a black car until the owner the previous owner said well okay you're interested but it's actually like this now it looks like this and they actually kept it this way with this weird pattern wrap in there and the dark green i actually think it looks pretty cool um i'm not the biggest fan of matte stuff anymore i mean i think that has passed but i do think this looks pretty cool with those black gt2 wheels it is a pretty cool look so they went to monaco with their rv uh with a trailer behind that and they picked up this car there i mean good job guys good choice i mean this is this is going to be one for the ages i think such a special car okay so where to begin the gt2 of course is the combination between the turbo and the gt3 that's basically the recipe it started back in the 90s 1999 with the 993 gt2 which was called the widowmaker because it was undrivable super dangerous rear-wheel drive only turbocharged engine and back in those days traction control was merely a suggestion so that's how this car got its name after that came the 996 gt2 which was a little bit more uh sophisticated a little bit better to handle but still not really that great this however is supposed to be like a change so today i'm going to see if that's true if this is a softer gt2 because of course we've driven the gt2 rs which is a very handleable car it's it's perfectly drivable with a lot of power and somewhere in between the 993 widowmaker and the 99 one perfectly drivable gt2 is this so let's take a look at the wheels beautiful beautiful wheels 19 inch with two 35 section michelin pilot super sport tires and behind that we've got 380 millimeter carbon ceramic brakes very nice as standard of course on the gt2 as i said it's a combination between the gt3 and the turbo so we've got a turbo engine and we've got a gt-3 based chassis with an aluminium subframe uh and these ceramics as standard now we do have rear-wheel drive as you might know of course that's why it's called the widowmaker and these are massive 325 section tires at the rear to try and keep uh that power to this stuff the black stuff air intake here on the side again with that stuff lam 911 go follow him he makes some cool videos as well so uh yeah definitely worth following them and of course we've got an exhaust on this car because why not i mean how do you make this car better by putting an exhaust on it and this got an akrapovic exhaust the previous owner put it on there and it sounds really really cool but what a iconic rear end this is with that big spoiler and those air intakes in there one of the coolest spoilers ever if you ask me and we can actually open the engine compartment as well cool gt2 badge and you can see the engine after this generation this was all hidden and there was only a little thing for the oil in this car you can actually see everything so we've got the gt2 logo right there variable turbine geometry that's what made this turbo generation or this engine generation special that porsche figured out a way to get big turbo power and still have very very good throttle response and not too much turbo lag carbon fiber intake here beautiful and this is just cool to look at now as standard a gt2 has 530 horsepower and 680 newton meters of torque which is a lot i mean that's more than a current day gt3 for instance but this car is not stock so it has had an ecu remap done uh 620 horsepower and 901 newton meters of torque is the result uh yeah i think the widowmaker is back 620 horsepower on the rear wheels 901 newton meters of torque that is a lot another cool feature of the gt2 is this bumper part down here with those louvers or whatever that is i think that looks super awesome from the rear you recognize it immediately because of that big wheel and those little air outlets whatever that is so on the interior we've got carbon on the door sills with the gt2 badge and this car was actually delivered with comfort seats uh but they put these carbon fiber buckets in here because yeah this is a bit more gt2 ish i would say so i definitely get that and we've got gt2 down here as well on the handbrake and we've got an alcantara steering wheel with a flat bottom and a six-speed manual carbon fiber alcantara it's just the basics and the basics are great so let's start it up and for that we are going to use the key now oh that's a different key so the key now the key is on the left as it is in almost all porsches i don't know if i ever told you guys why that was uh they actually started doing this at le mans because when you have a le mans start i'll demonstrate you had to run you had to run to the car right so they ran to the car and they got in and then they had to turn on the ignition and put the car in first gear with their right hand so what porsche thought was let's put the key on the left they got in as quickly as they could then push this key into here and immediately start it up and put it in first gear that's why the key is on the left in porsches i don't think we ever covered that in one of our porsche reviews but there you go okay so the first thing you notice is that you've got a very heavy clutch pedal and i absolutely love that because you get used to it really quickly and it just drives so nice you have so much feel in that pedal brake pedal same thing it's quite heavy really love that okay sound so the stock 9 9 7 gt2 and turbo uh don't really sound like anything it's a lot of blowing through the exhaust and you have a little bit of engine sound but this a krapovic exhaust does add quite a bit of sound to it which is really nice all right um we're going to go for sport suspension and what's that stability control i guess we're going to keep that on for now and we're going to see if we need to turn it off that's my strategy for today so we can feel the car a little bit because i believe that this is a relatively easy gt2 to drive but this has 620 horsepower so are we going to do the tunnel yeah okay second gear oh that's a very intense sound and you could actually hear you can actually hear the traction control you can hear it cutting the power so let's turn that off now we do have a bit of sand on our tires now so let's get that off first yeah definitely oh this is a wild animal oh my god second gear oh i just want to keep those windows open that is such a nice sound oh it's such an aggressive car this oh my god uh this is a problem this is a problem yeah we did we we definitely need to buy one of these in the near future this i i definitely need one of these in my life this is insane this is so good oh my god the way this thing goes is just written oh that's so nice oh no oh so we've got the two nine ffs one and two and we've got the crazy audi uh with 709 horsepower and then we've got this car so a very respectable time and very very strong performance oh the power look at that bingo that is ridiculous that is 325 the first time i get some decent space oh what a car this is such a crazy car and i lean on those carbon ceramics and we're doing 100. the cool thing about these gt2 cars and the gt2 rs is that you have the best of everything basically you have the most powerful power train you have the best manual because these shifts are so nice and oh you've got the best like chassis setup you've got that crazy turbo power behind you which just catapults you every gear it's just set up to perfection and it just keeps going it is insane now this of course is a 620 horsepower version of the gt2 i have to remember that uh this is not you know a stock car but it does feel like that which makes it even crazier third gear 130. oh i could do this all day long all day man man man i need one of these i think yeah i i think i actually prefer this to uh the 991 gt2 rs i love the manual gearbox it it makes it feel so special and those in-gear pools make it feel you
