As the Prelude Event Came to a Close
The prelude event that took place earlier today came to an abrupt end as Brent's attempt to fine-tune the tune resulted in a major issue. The vibration was getting worse by the minute, and it was clear that something was amiss with either the flywheel or clutch. Despite their best efforts to rectify the situation, they decided to leave it alone and risk further damage.
The Decision to Abandon Ship
In light of the growing vibration, the team made the difficult decision to abandon ship and call off the prelude event for the day. This was a tough pill to swallow, especially after having invested so much time and effort into fine-tuning the car. However, safety always comes first, and it was clear that taking any further risks would have been reckless.
The Aftermath: Gordo's Impressive Run
Despite not being able to complete the prelude event, one of the competitors, Gordo, managed to make a notable impression with his performance. His ability to navigate the track and overcome challenges earned him recognition from the team, who were impressed by his skills and determination.
The Tragic Tale of Shane's Car
On the other hand, another competitor, Shane, experienced a catastrophic failure that left his car in ruins. The loss of the piston was nothing short of devastating, with some describing it as "complete carnage." The incident served as a stark reminder of the risks involved in competitive driving and the importance of being prepared for any eventuality.
The Potential for Change: A Shift to a Different Powerplant
As the team discussed their experience on the prelude event, there was talk of potentially changing up the powerplant. With reliability being a top priority, they may consider ditching the single cam in favor of something more straightforward and reliable. This change could be motivated by the ease with which the competitors at Psta were able to operate their cars.
The Rise of New Talent: Eleven-Three's Impressive Debut
One of the standout performances of the day belonged to an 11-year-old competitor, who made a remarkable debut on the track. Despite being new to the scene and having no prior practice on the pad or track, he was able to launch his car with ease and demonstrate impressive skills. His success served as a testament to the power of determination and natural ability.
The Behind-the-Scenes: Brent's Struggle is Real
Throughout the event, there were glimpses into the life of one of the competitors, who was seen struggling to come up with a convincing backstory for his car. His "photobooth" antics, as they came to be known, provided a humorous and lighthearted respite from the intensity of the competition.
The Event's Organizer: A Shout-out to Psta
A special thank you was extended to the organizers at Psta, who had put on an excellent event. Their efforts were evident throughout the day, as everything ran smoothly and efficiently despite some minor setbacks.
The Future: Packing Up and Heading Home
As the sun began to set on another action-packed day of racing, the team packed up their gear and said their goodbyes. Despite not having achieved all they had hoped for, there was a sense of camaraderie and shared experience that lingered long after the final flag fell.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up guys i'm over here at wyatt's and i got the wheels and tires off of the mr2 and the prelude over here because i did order a new set of slicks for the prelude but they're not going to get here until saturday so what i've had to do is take these slicks off of the mr2 and i'm putting those onto the prelude wheels because as you guys know i showed that nasty cut that we had on this slick right here so we need to replace those guys this one is actually okay but i just went ahead and took both tires off of both wheels and now i got the old slicks off of the mr2 onto the prelude wheels and then when the new set shows up i'm just going to throw those onto the mr2 they actually share the same exact size slick they're both a 26 by 8 and a half by 15. so it worked out perfect and yeah just used wyatt's dang it dude freaking air compressor came on but came over here to use wyatt's uh changer and stuff to get that all done so thank you and uh yeah we're ready to head back over to the shop and get the wheels back onto the prelude and it's one less thing out of the way for this weekend yeah good luck man thank you wish i could be there but yeah wyatt's gonna be out of town sand dune yeah they're getting their paddle tires installed right now on the the dirt scooters over here about to go have some fun in the sand out there bro i know i want to get the dune buggy ready we're going to make a sand dune trip here soon it's going to be sweet why it's making good progress on the truck too i see has that that hoop done on the yeah the funny car cage give him a little teaser of it but i haven't uh haven't uploaded to my channel yet oh you haven't uploaded this yet a little teaser it's all all exclusive right here no oh he's getting a lot done on this thing that's looking good yeah sorry about the air compressor we were trying to time it when that wouldn't come on so we just got the slick swapped over for the prelude and right now we are getting ready to roll the fenders a little bit this is our friend jimmy he brought his fender roller down he's actually getting his cartoon today and while he's down here he's going to be helping me out with the fenders on the prelude so we got the fender roller bolted up right here and we're just going to be folding in this inner lip right here and then maybe give it a slight poke nothing too crazy though but just to get this inner lip out of the way so we do not run into that same issue where it cut into the tire i think it's like right here where it did it because if you guys remember that one slick blew up on this side and it kind of messed up the fender a little bit and it made all this stuff in here like really kind of wonky and sharp and stuff because i tried to bend it all straight but uh yeah we're just gonna go ahead and get it rolled out and we will not be hurting our slicks anymore after we get this done you also brought the heat gun make sure we don't chip the edge of our paint right here we'll be all ready to go all right so we just got this side all rolled that inner lip is now flat with the fender right there that side is ready to go should not rub anymore i do want to get some new fenders and stuff for the prelude i also want to go over the whole car one day and make it look nice and clean but you know for right now we're working with what we got so we got the fender roller pulled off that side now we're doing the passenger side and once we get that one done we'll be ready to go and then this one's already in good shape so this one should go by a lot faster since that fender didn't withstand a slick explosion so the prelude is just about ready to go we got the fenders rolled and we actually got it back on the ground and pushed outside and we're getting ready to load this thing up right now we did actually do a few more things off camera we got all of the fluids changed so that is done and ready to go and i actually had to put a parachute cable in here this is the one out of the router see because i don't know if you guys remember but the cable that was in here last time we took it out kind of got all bound up and the handle stopped working and the parachute wasn't working on those last passes we got out of this thing i think it was actually the time 1320 came out and yeah the parachute was just not working right so i ended up taking the parachute cable out of the row to see and we got that one on there and now everything is working properly as it should the old one is over here on the ground and the end was just all frayed up and just binding up on us so we don't want to be having any of that because we do plan on going fast so we're going to need our parachute working so we got that changed out as well and then i also mentioned about getting a new battery for this thing but it turns out this battery is actually pretty new i forgot i picked this one up not too long ago and i let it sit on the charger overnight and she starts right up has plenty of power coming out of the battery so that is done and ready to go it's nice and tied down we got our little cover to throw on we need to get our nuts to get that all in closed once we get out to the track but batteries done ready to go kind of wipe the dust off of this thing as best i could since it was sitting for a long time definitely could use a more thorough wash but yeah i cleaned out the inside a little bit you know there's some stuff there's like a whole bunch of old time slips and stuff that we were throwing in here just for storage and just cleaned it out a little bit and she's about ready to go boys so we're gonna go ahead and get this thing loaded up as you guys saw she made a thousand and ten horsepower on the dyno like it was nothing so hopefully she does good tomorrow she is still on stock axles so you know there's always the chance of us breaking the axles but it's been doing pretty good on the stockies for a while now so i'm just gonna bring it how it is and hopefully we get some good times out of this thing but we're gonna go ahead and fire her up and get her into the trailer and we are gonna be using the old dc trailer finally it's been sitting for a long time we just got this thing cleaned out and we are using it to transport the prelude over to bandamere speedway what's up guys we're out here at vandemir speedway we got the prelude out today is race day so we are out here for the psca we have a whole bunch of guys racing today everyone's been itching to get back into racing with all this stuff going on so this event is going to be awesome literally everyone is out here today we even have robert yeah so nice out robert's out here from hush performance we're out here with the guys from pfi got derek's cars back there here is shane civic this is gordo civic i'm actually letting him borrow my slicks these are the ones i was running on the hatch and then i let roman borrow these and then now they're being used on gordo civic jamie has his neon right over there and uh this intro is going to be a little rushed because we actually just got called up to go to our first round of qualifying so i actually need to get suited up we're already tucked in and ready to go and we're about to make our first qualifying passes of the day dang dude you made it out it's ready i was going to put a bigger turbo on it and i just said we're just going to leave just left outlets that's awesome man glad you made it out today honestly i think she has it what'd it do on this turbo 8.90 oh yeah she'll do a 9. but we're going to turn it down though it'll it'll probably be like seven something so it should be all right all right guys we are all in line getting ready to make our first qualifying passes of the day i got to get strapped in and ready to rip yeah the 890 pants on i mean we'll give her what she's got but we'll see what happens um sounds cold yep sounds like it has a couple bugs in it so we're gonna check it out and get back at it again bro i wasn't ready this is what i like to see i like to see shane in one of these that's awesome gordo too they both they both became racers overnight yeah never before so uh both of their cars are done this is gordo's car what did it make 600 600 and yours made it over four eleven four eleven this is change of the coupe you guys seen it in the other video so you're just trying to take out gordo that's your goal that's my goal but he's got 200 horsepower on me hey where you going driver you got that weight reduction actually i was at a little bit a little bit more to be honest 23.85 and he's 23.50 oh okay yeah i don't know that man good luck shane's first time racing on the track with his own race car proud of this kid first pass ever can i give him a oh 13-3 yeah thing made 600 horsepower man i think i think he's gonna need some practice launching so yeah i think so too once he gets it down it should be like 10 oh come on he said what life i didn't even get a time because he left too early no he just took off two steps and launched it second the light even he saw any light and he just took off like the first he wasn't even like fully staged he just went hey i bet that felt good launching it though it lost pretty good took off yeah i did so we tried to make a pass in the loot and she did not want to make any boost yeah we're thinking it might be something with the vtec solenoid because we we checked everything and we don't know why it would be not working all the sensors are talking to each other and everything so yeah and it seems to be happening like right about where vtec would kick in it is it's right at that rpm it's like right at vtech so we might pull the solenoid off real quick and just make sure the screen didn't get gummed up from the last time the motor went yeah when the motor came apart because we didn't clean out any metal and that could be in the screen so we got to double check that real quick and see why she's not wanting to go so the last pass you've flung a alternator belt well the alternator belt came off while we were trying to mess with it it just seems like the tune's off you can't find anything i took the vtec solenoid off it was fine because it was like breaking up or bogging down or something yeah me and brandon just have been looking over at the last hour robert's been over here helping like crazy uh and he ran to the parts store and you got a alternator belt because he was already over there yeah i think i got the wrong size yeah it's like barely too small though so we're gonna try to stretch it on all right are you ready yes so she's good now alternator belt wise but we still don't know why it wasn't one to make any boost so we were playing with it while robert was off getting that belt and brent pulled a whole bunch of fuel out of it on the tune and it seemed to come right up so the two-step was working again it was just really fat but we don't know why because it was working perfect on the dyno as you guys saw i made 1010 horsepower and we've never had issues with the tune actor but i don't know he just trimmed out some fuel and like i said two steps came back so now that we got the alternator fixed we're just gonna let it charge up for a second and then i'm gonna go i'm gonna take it down this road right here just try to get in it some and just see if it uh pushes past where it didn't want to go to down the track to see if it wants to make some boost but you know i can't rip it too hard because it's just the return but we're not supposed to be ripping the cars out there but i want to try to at least see if it makes some boost and pushes past the spot where it wouldn't before and we're just gonna have to keep going out there and try it again so we got one more we have one more quality so we got to figure it out in his last one it's off to elimination so i mean a lot of other people are having issues out here so we might get lucky it depends who up it depends who we go up against we'll be up against morgan or something yeah we're hopefully she wakes back up man because it was running good on the dyno seems a little better it's definitely starting to get into boost but it's really not enough room back here to really test it so we're just gonna have to put her back in line and see how she does hmm yeah that's a rowdy two-step that's good how much did it build that was nine ten pounds of boost it sounds pretty rowdy yeah we're ready i'm ready we feel more excited now nice all right guys getting ready to make the second pass of the day there you go oh something's still up with her guys something's still up 12-1 at 129. still something up with it i don't know what she's doing guys i've been busting my ass trying to figure out what's up with this thing but you just might not want to work today boys well we're plugged back in i guess we're going to try to take a little bit more fuel out that's what we're doing that's the plan because the first pass it wouldn't do nothing and then the second pass pulled some fuel and at least it started to wake up but it was still definitely way down on power way down still seemed like it was breaking up a little bit so seems like the fuel is just too fat for some reason it's weird that it was so perfect on the dyno and everybody today you know we are super high elevation and a lot of people today have been complaining they can't make boost and fuel's been all weird so yeah everyone's cars are running weird today i need to look at the d.a here but there's a window in the front it's definitely been interesting what'd you do shane i blew it up dude dude the rod's still on the crank bro oh it's still good i just pulled the wrist pin out of the piston man there's potential for a good crank still the crane is probably good it's probably fine dang i think dude like the rod looks fine it's like it broke the wrist pin and that's what came apart pulled the wristband out yeah the rod didn't snap for nothing dude the rod's just dangling out of the block dangling man is there a window in the back dude i was looking there's some oil back there i think i think it's just the front dude you went you went all the way up to the head almost look how high up it goes yeah the pistons there's a whole chunk you gotta ask the guys did that happen like mid-track that was like top of third year and then you coasted and then i coasted and you're right so there's chunks of your block out there how those slicks working for you they're working great they did the trick your second pass dang yeah 11-3 you didn't didn't leave right away yeah i didn't leave too early this time nice 128 that's a good trap thank you oh yeah good job man thank you that's really good for your second pass thank you that's sick yeah he's like and you beat the guy next to you yeah that was uh damn how is this guy over here garage idiots yep oh really let's get the twelves that's awesome skip the twelves that's sick dude oh yeah keep at it thank you that's a good that's a pretty good 60 for one seven seven not too bad you're launching it good for never doing it before thank you good job well done nice oh yeah i knew i could do it good job man thank you thank you well guys while we were trying to adjust the tune on the prelude we ran into another issue that is much bigger than the tune itself uh we'll get into that in a little bit prelude is done for the day unfortunately so you know it's what it is like i said we'll talk about in just a second what kind of happened and uh for right now they actually just called up the pro import class so we're just gonna go down and support our friends and watch everyone else run but the prelude is out for the count unfortunately oh my eyes are burning yeah we're just about finishing up and i forgot to say what happened to the prelude so basically brent was cleaning up the tune a little bit taking some more fuel out hoping that would fix the breaking up issue and hoping you know to make some more power um but when he was running it and revving it you could hear a vibration and i actually heard it like way down there but i didn't know really what it was yet and then once we got it down here the vibration was getting worse and we're thinking the flywheel or clutch is something in there is definitely really loose you can feel it in the pedal and you can hear it yeah it's louder yeah it's pretty bad so we decided to just obviously leave it we're not gonna risk that and uh yeah so we just sat out and just hung out for the rest of the day and gordo made it pretty far he did actually just get eliminated but he's been learning he did really good which was awesome thank you and as you guys saw shane's car uh you know it could have been more jeans jane's car lost the whole freaking piston i don't even think the rod stain going out of that thing yeah that piston is in a different dimension it's gone he slipped it up did you you broke that thing good i toasted it it was just complete just complete carnage dude the wall isn't this big are you keeping it single camera do you think you're gonna change it up i think we might change it up just for the ride reliability yeah it might ditch the single cam let's take a trip to the junkyard and just go look at some elements there's some crv the borders was so so simple and so easy you know and it worked it worked good good morning has ten second potential oh yeah it's right there eleven three this is his first time over the track dude it's the first time ever he did so good first time and you did it at an event like you went you know you competed first time i ever launched the car he didn't even practice on this on the pad or anything just went for it he went for it his first his first one was a little iffy then the second one looks like he knew what he was doing mm-hmm right away he didn't even he just went he just went that was it let go i know brent's had this photo thing on the whole time i said it looks like he's been working at starbucks i feel like he's like selling christmas trees or something he said like safeway producer or almost like an ace hardware or something like hello sir can i help you find something all it all was a good day yeah it was fun it was good it's been a while since like everybody got together you know yeah at least the track at least steps coming back to normal that's the cool part well guys we're getting out of here for tonight we are packed up ready to go the day definitely could have went better but we still had a whole bunch of fun overall and uh brent definitely filmed a whole bunch of stuff today i want to give a huge thanks to the guys over at psta for throwing the event and also be sure to go check out pfi speed because brent got a whole bunch of footage from all day today so you know if you win some you lose some freely broke some things today and that's just racing boys so we'll see you guys later and we'll get her back up and going as soon as we can you\n"
