Peugeot 3008 2017 SUV i-Cockpit infotainment and interior review _ Mat Watson Reviews
The 3008: A Futuristic SUV with Premium Feel
Inside the 3008, it looks like it's been beamed in from the future. The exterior is covered in soft touch plastics and fabric trim, which makes it feel much more expensive than its rivals. This premium feel is due to the fact that the 3008 is priced higher than cars such as the Skoda Slavia and Seat Tecar. However, despite its higher price point, the 3008 still offers a lot of standard equipment across all its models.
All 3008 models come equipped with alloy wheels, climate control, lane departure warning, digital dials, and an eight-inch touchscreen that comes with a digital radio, Apple CarPlay, and MirrorLink. While there is no specific Android Auto option available on the standard model, buyers can upgrade to the Allure trim for additional features such as a reversing camera and satellite navigation. The GT Line model adds LED headlamps and wireless smartphone charging, while the top-of-the-line GT model comes with leather seats, a panoramic glass roof, and adaptive cruise control.
The 3008's touchscreen controls most of its in-car functions, but buyers may find it easier to navigate using the bank of toggle switches that make up part of the center console. While having physical buttons for air conditioning would be nice, the on-screen items are big and clear, making it easy to read and interact with them. The graphics of the entertainment system are also impressive, with a sharp resolution and bright screen that responds well to touch inputs.
However, there is some lag in the touch response compared to rivals, which may cause frustration for some buyers. The TomTom satellite navigation system is fairly easy to use, with pinch-and-swipe gestures allowing users to preview routes on the map. While loading times can be slow, the system will often suggest nearby fuel stations when you're low on fuel. Additionally, the 3008 comes equipped with a twelve-point-three-inch digital display for the driver, which displays data in an easy-to-read format that changes according to the driving mode.
The graphics on the display can be customized to show trip or navigation functions, and buyers who opt for massage seats will have the option to select from five different modes to customize their driving experience. The settings will also include mood lighting, steering wheel waves, and throttle response, allowing drivers to tailor their driving experience to suit their needs. The standard sound system is satisfactory but intuitive, while the optional High Five systems by Focal offer a significant upgrade for an additional £600.
Overall, the 3008's blend of premium materials, advanced technology, and impressive features make it a compelling choice in the SUV market.
