Getting All Day Battery Life on Your iPhone: Tips and Tricks
One of the most frustrating aspects of using an iPhone is running out of battery throughout the day. However, with these simple tips and tricks, you can significantly improve your iPhone's battery life and get all-day battery life.
First, it's essential to update your iPhone to the latest software version, iOS 13.5 in this case. This operating system comes with various improvements, including enhancements in the battery department. If you haven't updated yet, we highly recommend doing so as soon as possible. Updating to a newer software version can often resolve issues and improve overall performance, including battery life.
Now, let's dive into some settings that can greatly impact your iPhone's battery performance. The first setting I want to talk about is Siri's listening mode. On my current device running iOS 13.5, the option for "Listen for 'Hey Siri'" is set to always listen. This means that Siri is constantly waiting for you to say "Hey Siri" and the microphones are always on, which can drain the battery somewhat. I don't use this feature at all; instead, I prefer to invoke Siri using my side button. If you don't need this feature, you can easily turn it off by going into Siri settings and selecting "Turn off 'Listen for Hey Siri'". This simple adjustment can lead to a significant reduction in battery drain.
Another setting that can greatly impact your iPhone's battery life is the way you update your apps, music, and books. Under App Store settings, I prefer to only update my apps, music, and books when I'm connected to Wi-Fi at home with a power source. This means that automatic updates are turned off, which prevents the iPhone from constantly searching for updates in the background. Additionally, I've also turned off "Automatic Downloads" under iTunes settings, which eliminates the need for the iPhone to update apps, music, and books without my knowledge or consent. These small adjustments can help reduce battery drain caused by constant app updates.
Under App Settings on iOS 13.5, there's an option called "Background App Refresh". This feature allows certain apps to run in the background and refresh their data constantly. While this might be useful for some apps, I prefer to limit it to only when necessary. To do so, go into your individual app settings and toggle off the Background App Refresh option whenever possible. If you don't need an app to update its data in the background, there's no reason to enable this feature.
Finally, let's talk about privacy settings on iOS 13.5. One setting that can significantly impact battery performance is Significant Location Services. Under System Services, I prefer not to use this feature at all. This means that my iPhone is not constantly tracking my location and using GPS, which can drain the battery quickly. Additionally, under Apple Maps Settings, I've turned off various features such as "Product Improvement", "Popular Near Me", and "Routing in Traffic". These features are designed to improve Apple Maps' accuracy but also consume a significant amount of power.
By following these tips and adjusting your iPhone's settings accordingly, you can significantly improve your battery life and enjoy all-day battery performance. Remember to update your software regularly, turn off unnecessary features, and limit background app refreshes to maximize your iPhone's battery life.
