The Samsung Galaxy E5: A Mid-Range Device with Some Surprising Features
In my experience, I've found that this device is actually pretty lag-free and performs well overall. While some users may notice a slight lag, it's not enough to detract from the overall user experience. Additionally, the Chrome browser on this device is also very responsive and handles web browsing tasks with ease.
The keyboard on this device is another feature worth mentioning. The number row is present, which is often missing in other devices, making it more convenient for users who prefer a physical keyboard. The touch sensitivity on this device is also excellent, allowing for smooth pinch-to-zoom functionality and other multi-touch gestures.
One of the standout features of this device is its performance in terms of web browsing and general usage. With 1.5GB of RAM, it's able to handle most tasks without any issues. The multi-touch points on this device are also impressive, with 10 points available for smooth navigation and gesture recognition.
However, there are some limitations to this device. One area where it falls short is in terms of sensors. While it does have a GPS sensor, there is no compass app available, which can be a concern for users who rely on their device's navigation capabilities. Fortunately, I was able to test the GPS performance on this device and found that it works surprisingly well, even without a compass.
The camera on this device is another feature worth discussing. The rear-facing camera is an 8MP shooter, which is average at best. However, the front-facing camera is a different story altogether. With a 5MP sensor, it's actually one of the better front-facing cameras I've seen in a device of this class. In fact, I was impressed enough with its performance that I decided to do some additional testing and compare it to other devices.
In terms of gaming performance, I found that this device is capable of handling even the most demanding games without any issues. Asphalt 8 and Modern Combat 5 were both smooth and responsive, with no signs of lag or overheating. This is a notable achievement, especially considering the budget-friendly price point of this device.
Overall, my experience with the Samsung Galaxy E5 has been positive. It's a solid mid-range device that offers many of the features and performance you'd expect from a higher-end smartphone at a lower price point. While it's not perfect – the lack of USB OTG support, LED notification light, and 4G connectivity are all notable omissions – its strengths in terms of responsiveness, web browsing, gaming, and camera performance make it a compelling choice for anyone looking for a new smartphone.
Pros:
* Responsive and smooth user experience
* Excellent web browsing and general usage performance
* Good multi-touch capabilities
* Impressive front-facing camera performance
* Battery life is excellent
Cons:
* No USB OTG support
* No LED notification light or auto brightness sensor
* Rear-facing camera is average at best
* No 4G connectivity (only 2G and 3G)
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy E5 is a solid mid-range device that offers many of the features and performance you'd expect from a higher-end smartphone. While it's not perfect, its strengths in terms of responsiveness, web browsing, gaming, and camera performance make it a compelling choice for anyone looking for a new smartphone on a budget.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey there this is ranjeet and in this video we'll be doing the full review for the samsung galaxy e5 which is sort of a mid-range android device by samsung and i have been testing this device for over three weeks now and before we proceed let me actually give you a physical overview on the top we have a secondary noise cancellation mic and here we have the power on off button and you'll find two slots over here one is slightly bigger and this one is the smaller one this is where your primary ship will go but do remember that it's a nano sun and the second slot is a little bit weird because this is a duos device that means it supports do dual sim and you can add your second sim over here but if you do that then you cannot add your micro sd card so you got to decide between the second sim or the micro sd card i did all my testing with one and a regular nano sim and micro sd card moving to this side as you can see we have the main microphone and here we have the 3.5 mm headphone jack and this is the micro usb slot and on this end we have the volume rocker if you move towards the back we have the speaker phone 8 megapixel rear facing camera with led flash samsung branding and this is a unibody design hence the back cannot be opened hence the battery is sealed inside it has a 2 400 milliamp hour battery and the battery life is pretty good i'll show you that a bit later the highlighting factor of this device is the screen quality it's a super amoled screen and as you can see it is actually pretty vibrant it's a 720p hd screen and also i would say the phone is pretty thin and it's comfortable to hold in a single hand but again if you notice we have some sensors uh over here and we also have a five megapixel front facing camera and this is the earpiece and i have to say that i made a lot of cellular calls with this and the cellular call quality was very good on this device but we don't have any led notification light over here if you go down we again have two touch type capacitive buttons like on most samsung phones one is for this multitasking tray we have the home button and the other is for back fortunately they do light up and let me also show you uh the interface it runs this new touch of this interface i would say it's a little bit more simplified than earlier touchwiz interface and for the most part it's actually pretty fluid we do get some new options again it's very similar to old touchwiz if you look at it you won't find a lot of difference but there are a few changes for example we do have the theme support and you can quickly apply any theme and it changes even the icon for example we are on the basic samsung theme let me apply the natural one and if you just hit apply it takes about a second or so and now as you can see it changes the entire look even the icons change and i thought it would be sluggish after doing this but surprisingly it has been performing pretty well even after changing the themes i'll just go back to the regular theme and you can easily do this but one thing to note is that these are the only themes that are supplied you don't have access to any theme stores or something like that but at least it's a good start fortunately we do have these quick toggles over here and we also have this button using which you can access them and you also do get the ultra power saving mode in this one and we also have the smart stay but one annoying thing you'll notice is that we don't have any auto brightness sensor on this device so that is pretty annoying in my opinion uh but the screen is actually pretty bright and we also have an outdoor mode but to adjust the brightness you have to use this manual toggle which is sort of silly in my opinion uh if you talk about the android version let me show you it's running on the android version 4.4.4 that is kitkat regarding storage also samsung did a good thing we have ample internal storage it comes with 16 gigs of internal storage i've installed a lot of apps etc etc uh so we have a little bit less but again in terms of storage i would say it is pretty good considering the price point of this device now if you talk about the price this product is available in india for around 15 500 or so at the time of making this video i'll have the link for flipkart so that you can check the latest pricing now if we talk about what's powering this device this is powered by a 1.2 gigahertz quad-core processor that's based on the snapdragon 410 chipset which is 64-bit enabled the gpu is the adreno 306 ram on this device is 1.5 gigs the screen is a 5-inch super amoled screen moving towards the camera the rear facing camera is a 8 megapixel shooter with led flash whereas the front-facing camera is a 5-megapixel shooter the battery is 2400 milliamp hour but it is sealed inside now if we talk about the battery life the battery life that i was getting on this device is also very good and i have to say uh i did all my testing with the single sim and i would say for most users it should easily last for one and a half days and uh one incredible thing that i noticed with this device is the standby time is excellent for example uh as you can see let me show you the screenshot i did not use the device a lot during this time but as you can see i charged it and i must have used it for just one hour of screen time and if you notice on a single charge it could last me for nine days and it was always connected to my wi-fi network so as you can see the battery life is actually very good uh and if you're a light user i would say you can easily go up to two and a half days let me also show you this as you can see the standby time that i got on this device is incredible so in terms of battery life i would say samsung did a very good job with this device now even when we talk about this touchwiz and touchwiz was famous for lag but i did not notice a lot of lagginess on this device and i would say it performs actually pretty well so that's a big thumbs up in my opinion and again we have the chrome browser as well as samsung's own browser let's check the browsing if you go open the chrome browser and it's going to the samsung's website let's just move out to let's say this tech mimi and this is the default keyboard that we get and the good thing is that we have a number row and the keyboard did perform actually pretty well and i'm going to the full uh version and as you can see it's very good also the touch sensitivity is excellent on this device if you notice the pinch 2 zoom etc work very well so in terms of web browsing etc it is very good and with that 1.5 gigs of ram that we are getting it was able to handle most of the tasks without any issues now if we talk about the multi-touch points here also i was very happy as you can see it has 10 multi-touch points so that is great and as i mentioned the touch sensitivity is also very nice on this device but one thing i didn't notice is that if you fire up the cpu setup in terms of sensors these are the only sensors provided so these are the basic sensors and we don't even have compass apps so i was a little bit worried how will it perform with gps so i did some testing with the gps this is the galaxy e5 that i have and i'm just using the gps navigation to check how it performs because it does not have the compass app head northeast uh but as you can see turn right okay and i'm going to take a detour let's see if it reflects yes actually even without the compass it is functioning pretty well so for gps navigation i think so it'll work fine so even though it does not have the compass sensor but in gps performance it performed pretty well so that's nice and uh if we now talk about the camera the camera is eight megapixel shooter and the front facing camera is a five megapixel shooter i would say that the 8 megapixel camera is just sort of average it's nothing great outdoor shots can come out good but if you are a person who takes a lot of shots indoors then it does tend to struggle up a little bit but when we move to the front facing camera of this device the front facing camera was actually amazing in fact i have a shot a separate video uh where i compared the uh what do you say galaxy uh grand max and this galaxy e5 and in terms of front facing camera this galaxy e5 was actually very good i'm actually pretty impressed with the front facing camera that is offered on this device now if we move to gaming here also i had some very good experience i played some heavy games like asphalt 8 and even modern combat 5 and this device could handle it without any issues also the good thing is that even after extended gaming it did not exhibit any heating issues so what do i feel about this samsung galaxy e5 as you've seen from the review it's actually a pretty decent device now let me uh break it down between the pros and cons let's first talk about the cons of this device uh this device does not support usb otg functionality also it does not have any led notification light or even auto brightness sensor which is silly in my opinion and uh the rear facing camera though it's eight megapixel shooter is very average and uh lastly it does not have 4g supports so this is just a 2g and a 3g device now if we move to the pros of this device the first thing that i liked is the responsiveness the device is actually pretty responsive and it handled the what do you say android ui actually pretty well during my testing time also if you notice the screen quality the screen quality is actually very good this 720p amoled panel is very vibrant and you'll be really happy uh with the screen quality that samsung has provided also as i mentioned the front facing camera which is a 5 megapixel shooter is actually excellent also in terms of battery life i would say the battery life that we were getting is excellent on this device so to conclude i would say uh this galaxy e5 by no means is a perfect device it has its shortcomings but if we talk about the overall performance and the highlighting factors of this device i would say it's a pretty good device for the price point and if you're looking for a samsung device in the mid-range price point definitely have a look at this galaxy e5 i've also posted several other videos on the samsung galaxy e5 so make sure
