**DIY Birthday Card Ideas**
When it comes to birthday cards, there are many ways to make them special and personalized. In this article, we'll explore three unique DIY card ideas that you can use to celebrate someone's special day.
**Watercolor Card**
One of our favorite DIY card ideas is a watercolor card. To make one, start by folding your card in half and then creating a stencil using Bristol board. Cut out the number or design you want to use on your card, and then place it onto your watercolor paper. Make sure to hold it down tightly so that the water doesn't seep through underneath too much. Next, choose colors that you think will look great together in a cool color spectrum, such as green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, and magenta. Apply paint to the stencil, making sure not to apply too much or too little at once. As you work, make sure to hold back on lifting up your stencil so that it doesn't stick to the paper. Once you're done, carefully remove the stencil and let the painting dry.
The watercolor effect creates a beautiful, unique look that's perfect for someone who loves watercolors. You can adjust the amount of paint you apply to achieve the right level of transparency and blending. To add an extra touch, you can also use a brush to gently blend the colors together. The result is a stunning card that looks like it was painted by hand. And the best part? It's incredibly easy to make!
**Color in Your Candles**
Another fun DIY card idea is to color in your candles. This project involves creating a stamp with a small rectangle and then using it to create 100 candles on your birthday card. To start, fold your card in half to create a small rectangle, which will serve as the base for your candle stamps. Use scissors to cut out the rectangle, leaving about 1/4 inch of material around the edges.
Next, use an X-Acto knife to shave away the outside of the rectangle, creating a thin border that will help you stamp more evenly. Paint your candle stamp with a yellow pencil crayon and then stamp it onto your eraser. Repeat this process multiple times until you have a batch of 100 stamps. To assemble the card, start in the middle and work your way outwards, applying each candle stamp to create a row. Make sure to leave about 1/8 inch between each candle for an even spacing.
Once all of your candles are applied, use a marker or pen to add some happy birthday wishes to the bottom of the page. Finally, fill in the flames with paint to indicate how old the person is turning. This card is perfect for someone who loves bright colors and playful designs.
**Making Your Own Stamps**
If you're looking for an alternative way to create your candles, you can also use a stamp made from cardstock. To make a stamp, simply cut out a rectangle shape from cardstock and then shave away the edges until it's thin enough to use as a stamp. Paint your design onto the stamp using acrylic paint or markers, making sure to leave enough space for the candle flame.
Next, place a sheet of paper in front of you and dip your stamp into watercolor paint. Place the stamp on the paper and gently press down to create a impression. Repeat this process multiple times until all of your candles are applied. Make sure to leave about 1/8 inch between each candle for an even spacing.
Using stamps is a great way to add a personal touch to your birthday card, and you can customize the design to fit any theme or occasion. Simply experiment with different colors and designs until you find one that suits the recipient's style.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi guys today we have a really easy DIY for you a DIY you didn't even know you needed until you saw this video we've made you a couple of DIY birthday cards B bam we think they look great and they could be store bought but they're are not and we won't waste any more time we'll just tell you how you do them starting with this guy this is our first DIY birthday card and it's kind of a triangle flag Banner 3D card we started with a craft SL recycled paper color of card ST card stock um and we folded it in half it doesn't only matter which way we did it this way and then we took some red twine uh it's up to you you could use regular color twine whatever and we cut a smaller shorter piece and a longer piece just measuring it out on the card stock how it would lay and then we started to cut out our flag banners so we made these out of different color paint chips but you could obviously just use normal colored cards whatever you want um and go ahead and cut out you're going to need 13 triangles to spell happy birthday we use three different colors of paint chips uh we cut out five from each color and then just arrange them differently once you have all 13 triangles you're going to go ahead and write happy birthday so one letter on each triangle it's pretty pretty easy and next you're going to go ahead and glue your red uh twine to the card so join the two corners together and add a DOT of glue and glue them onto each side of the card also make sure you start about an inch down so that it hangs nicely so next you're going to lay out your triangles just to make sure that you have them even and centered it helps to start from the middle letter and work your way out once you have them laying down uh in a position that you're happy with you can go ahead and glue them to the twine we glued them directly to the twine and not to the C just so that it would hang a little bit off and look a little bit 3D but if there's any pieces sticking out at the again that you're not happy with you can easily go ahead and glue them to the card uh the last step we did was went back to our twine and tied two little knots leaving about 1/4 inch um away from the knot so then we just glued these on to cover up the glue dot where our twine meets on the card and it just looks like you hung them up nicely and brings the whole card together it really does it does so that was pretty simple how to make this uh FL birthday card and the next one we have is this guy chalkboard inspired card it's really easy because anything white that you put on a black card stock kind of Auto automatically looks like chalk it's so genius and so simple and I don't know why we didn't think of it earlier so here's how you do it so with a black card stock chalk and a white pencil crayon we're going to fold our card stock in half and the first thing we want to do is kind of make the card stock look like a used chalkboard so to do this we kind of rubbed our chalk on the card stock in the corners and and where our letters are kind of going to go and then smudge it in and you might need to do this a couple of times depending on how well the card stock holds the chalk um and then we're going to just start putting on our letters you can do any design you want but we went with this one so we wrote birate in the middle um and then we moved up to a banner that says happy and at the bottom it says to you in block letters and then you just want to go back and fill in all the details make everything a little bit darker add some syrups um and then you're pretty much done and then the last step was we went back with our chalk and did some more chalk details in the corners and smudged it in a little bit added some Shadows once you have the chalky base on the card anything you really do to it is going to look like a chalkboard which is pretty cool um we borrowed this design from an Etsy Shop which we will link below but really anything you do is just going to look great and look like a chalkboard yes so the next one is this kind of watercolor number number card and this one's also really easy and it looks so good so what you're going to need for this is watercolor paper watercolors of course a paintbrush some bristol board or card scissors or an exactor knife so to start fold your card in half and then we're going to make the stencil that we're going to watercolor over so take your bristol board and cut out the number that you want to use um it helps to draw it out first and then just cut out that number all right so you're going going to next put your stencil onto your watercolor paper and make sure you hold it down pretty tight so that the water doesn't seep through underneath too much um and you got to find a perfect balance of paint that's not too thick or too watery you don't want to soak your paper but you also want it to blend with the colors nicely so we did the two in a cool color spectrum uh starting with green and then on the one side we went with warmer colors started with yellow to Orange to Pink to purple also magenta and then you're going to want to take off your stencil pretty much right away so that it doesn't stick to the paper once you're done and you are going to see that it bleeds underneath a little bit but that's what makes it look like a watercolor and not just like you painted it on exactly just make sure that you didn't get it too wet cuz if it bleeds too much you can't really read your numbers anymore oops and as an afterthought we decided that this card might look better in the shape of a square so we just went and cut off the edges a little bit but totally optional so that's this watercolor card which was also really easy um and I think it looks great the colors are so so fun it's very Frey haven't done that since like grade too I know and it was actually really fun to do it again all right so our last part is the color in your candles to say how old you are card yes um so we use this basically by doing a stamp and then we colored in the flam Flames so what you're going to need is a card stock an eraser and an xacto knife and paint to make your stamp and a yellow pencil crayon and a marker um so we folded our card in half to make this candle stamp you're going to essentially cut out a small rectangle um so you're kind of going to cut out a rectangle outline and then just keep shaving away the outside so what you're left with is the rectangle yes that sticks off of the stamp so that it can uh stamp stamp and you're going to want this to be pretty small because you need to do 25 across if you folded it like we did it's 25 candlesticks uh four rows yes the end goal is we making 100 candles so divide this however you feel you need to so once you have your stamp done uh you're going to start stamping so to stamp you can either stamp it right in the paint but we find that that kind of is inconsistent and kind of blotchy so the easiest way is just paint it right onto your eraser stamp and then stamp it and also when you're starting to stamp you're going to want to start in the middle to get your spacing right so we're starting with the 13th candle which is exactly in the middle and then we stamped on either side building outwards just to make sure that our spacing is even and once you get the first row done it's really easy to just follow for the rows below that's exactly what we did so once your 100 candles are done stamping you can go ahead and add happy birthday at the bottom with a pen or a marker and the very last step is just to fill in the Flames as to how old your person is turning yay and that's it it's kind of timec consuming to do the stamping process but in the end it looks great and it's really easy all right so those are DIY cards for different options that you can make for anyone that has a birthday let us know which one is your favorite and if you do end up making any of these you can always send them to us on Twitter Facebook Tumblr Instagram all those great places that are always linked below for you yes and if the oldfashioned paper card thing isn't really your Forte Forte then you can send one of our e-cards that we make uh we do these with Harley for like every season every holiday Harley is our little pet hedgehog if you don't know oh yeah Where Have You Been Just Kidding welcome um yeah so he says Happy Birthday Happy Valentine's Day whatever um in a little cute e-card um which we have linked at the end so you can just send that over through Facebook or email to your birthday person it's having a birthday what we hope you guys enjoyed the video and we will see you next week bye bye I got this cake just for you happy birthday to you happy birthday to you happy birthday ohhi guys
