SEMI TRUCKS Drag Racing with 120,000 lbs Trailers!

abilene texas and you guys have ever wondered what tan wide semi truck racing looks like be sure to check out that video we'll drop the link in the description below but today we're doing things a little bit different we are doing 500 foot uphill semi truck drag racing we're doing it two different ways bob's hailing for those of you that don't know what bob tailing is that's without a trailer and loaded that's with a trailer now these trailers weigh 120 000 pounds a lot of strain on these trucks we're gonna see lots of smoke lots of wheelies probably some carnage so buckle up here we go it's gonna be a wild ride let's do this it's that seat mechanical category we're still on practice time on that one it's time for some loaded semi truck bullying here at big rig challenge this is when things get really crazy we're going to be seeing some wheelies tons of rolling coal black smoke lots of carnage too these things are hauling 120 000 pounds behind them 140 000 pounds total including the truck it's gonna take a lot of power and these guys have two thousand three thousand horsepower in the a-class never gets old it doesn't man that's so freaking cool oh oh lane oh chances are you pounds behind it drag racing for 700 feet how's it going good how are you today great good job this is going to be an experience yeah we're running loaded uh our b-class against g.i joe oh you're racing gi joe back here yeah yeah well he's a very uh strong canadian b truck yeah got her cranked up besides she'll go oh yeah oh yeah we'll really be giving her the business here that's all i like to hear oh all right that turbo whistles you got an earful of that so 120 000 pounds behind this truck and it definitely feels different when you're when you're racing with the load behind you oh yeah considering today's lumber prices the the lumber behind is quite worth more than the truck probably got two of my favorite semis i've been seeing all weekend sitting next to each other idling and these things look like trains and they sound like them and the smoke rings they blow are just so satisfying to watch just check this out i had to come over here and check out these two semis because i love the way they sound i love the idol i love the smoke the smoke rings are amazing what's the ear make model on on both trucks that's a new one approximately how much power is the feeder belt you're racing that's one uh 2800 roughly around 2800. hell yeah any any details or disclosure is all top secrets i figure no no one here wants to tell us at least we get a rough horsepower number just out of curiosity what do you do to make these things idle like that that's all i'm tuning in okay just a real low idle a lot of fuel box it down they're both running detroit okay see a lot of cat engines out here what's the reason you run detroit over cash that's a great reason all right in the a class it's pretty much unlimited right turbo's engines anything what's a rough ballpark i've been curious like price wise for an engine in these things price range 50 grand so you're racing unlimited and your brother is your brother your brother's a b class so that's uh probably limit that is it single 80 turbo size yeah okay i love the trucks man thanks for bringing them out here man i love these trucks they remind me of a train lugging down the track with a bunch of weight behind them just chugging along look at the smoke rings rolling out of these things we got a gopro inside ryan's truck over here to watch him shift in girls camera on the red truck to see hopefully it's a close free so we'll see this thing side by side is sir it had been a foot or two foreign i'm not sure but i think left lane might have pulled both the front wheels off the ground on that one that was awesome dude that was nuts we're here with brandon this is a k-100 right yup this is a cab over for all of the people watching that don't know their trucks that means cab over the engine so you sit directly on top of the engine correct and what engine are you sitting on top of the c15k c15 cat this is your first time racing it have you been trucking for a long time then or no i am a heavy equipment mechanic i've been around trucks my whole life and yeah this is the first first time ever anything like this we're gonna try it today and see what happens well good luck to you man all right thank you all right hello god sleeper is pretty basic huh a whole lot of amenities back here yes that's a wild ride it's wow holds hard for a 20 000 pound truck yeah thanks for the ride first time uh going down the drag strip in a in a semi i'm glad you guys came up here is so i'm down here at the top end of onaway speedway uphill drag strip in the us there are several up in canada north of the border they built this track uphill on purpose to attract canadian diesel truck semi racers and us raised away from michigan you will notice that there's two different finish lines there's one at 500 feet and that is for the bobtail class which is unloaded one right here it's 700 feet and that's when they're loaded down the bobtail class ends early because they're coming up over a hill they're doing that under speed can get a little sketchy they can break some parts so they shut down runners before they get to the crest of the hill nice and this is our c-class competitors which are restricted to stock turbo or turbos and you can tell because of the pink pieces of paper in their windshield and they don't roll coal if they roll too much coal they actually get disqualified from the class it's just more like a working truck class 200 feet backing up a b trainer for another 2000 no why not you can do it but he chose to go around is last race of saturday nights ago neil davis all right kick things off here on sunday we're here with michelle from uh are you from where md well we're from ontario canada okay md express yes correct c15 c15 is the engine that comes in this right cat engine yeah is it a 15 liter anymore or is a little bit bigger that's a little bit bigger i figured yeah any idea how much power we ever dynoed it we never died order but i beat trucks that are half 2800 horsepower gives you some sort of gauge so yeah i guess like it's somewhere around between 25 and 29 i guess perfect well i'm gonna hop in for the first ride down the track today to kick things off on sunday today is gonna be crazy lots of loaded e-class trucks we're gonna kick things off with yours i can't wait that's correct i'm not my first race is against my brothers oh no kidding all right same same crew have you guys raced before oh yeah how does it usually go uh usually the first time i raced against him he beat me yeah we'll see about that today just gotta get that launch down right that's correct all right let's get it done uh oh holy that was a freaking ride nice driving oh my god he almost got us to the end wow all right that's my morning coffee today so we're pulling back in the loading area he's gonna drop his load off i'm gonna see what else we can get into today a little way to kick off today more power sure thank you so okay he's been doing good all day and he's hooked up to a full load what's going on man how much you loving this event so far you look so small down there here we go hey this thing lifts that wheel yeah man it pulls it up out there off the ground it scared me the first time looking up at the sky going holy yeah i should have put a gopro on the front of this thing i'm gonna make sure my mouth fell open i think it's gonna be so short you know yeah yeah holy cow that was intense yeah man thank you for letting me write man nice to you liked it silly sausage oh hey all the way a winner all the way to the stripe never with the tires one to one that had to be a scary ride for that passenger the person in the passenger seat won a raffle yesterday for mission 22. a fundraiser raised over two thousand dollars i want to go find out what their reaction was we had a gopro on the windshield as you saw let's see what they thought how was that ride great it was awesome i had to lock it up on the top end oh yeah have you been anything like that before it was awesome get all the way up top spun the tires all the way up and he locked him up slid sideways it was great you got the full show yeah damn watch out uh oh just stuck side by side the whole way me we got wade here with diesel freak and got this beautiful w-900 here behind us and had a little bit of trouble yesterday with uh the head from what i understand correct we did yep bend a few valves broke some valve springs kind of destroyed the head three out of the six cylinders so a good half of it went to went south on us so tore into it last night i ran back to the shop got the parts we needed another cylinder head and they worked throughout the night and they're just butting it up this morning gonna have her ready for race day looks like a pretty serious setup underneath the hood of there i don't really know much about these so can you kind of walk me through with so well i mean i'm still street drivable i held this trailer here to the event with it i'm in the a class i i'm a little bit under powered probably compared to i know i am with some of these guys that are out here in the a class but estimated power probably in that close to that couple thousand horse range it is insane that you're close to a couple thousand and you're underpowered matt's hopping it with wade and foolish pleasure here the diesel freak team he's gonna see what it's like loaded down 120 000 pounds behind the trailer behind this truck see what he can do eliminations here right there yes yes oh you get that shot get that shot run winner what's up roger went in and told him give yourself a fair shake it go ahead and pull the burn out right through oh yeah oh is mario's high performance diesel the beast oh yes you know what they hesitated a little bit of the up shift uh oh white smoke's not good jordan's look at the truck because he fired up here a second ago and it was pouring white smoke out they've got a little bit of water coming out of the head gasket it sounds like so we're going to see if they can uh i don't know if they're trying to tighten it up or what but they seem to clear it up there for a second hopefully they get it fixed soon because their competition for i think the semi-final maybe is sitting over here waiting for them we got the final for c-class bobtail coming at you right now is all right so we're down to the semifinals i think in most of the classes right now but it's been very tough on trucks we've got t15 on meth over here we've got jordan's truck the black truck both working on it trying getting it back in order to race the red chuck up here i was pouring around the corner and found an issue and he's working on his truck as well so who know who knew 120 000 pounds to be rough on these things what are you guys working on are you serious of all the things go on after steve goulet and the lumberjack rides again you're on a roll nice work you got to race michelle now yes all right is this the semi-final yeah good luck so i came over here disappointed because i thought michelle was out of it because they're hooking up to him to pull pull them away but they actually have his teammates truck hooked up here to bump start it just like you would do with a car rolling down a hill to jumpstart it throwing in gear they're gonna do that with the semi truck here loaded up with 120 000 plus pounds behind it all right okay michelle's got his strength they got it full started with the blue truck over here he's racing the red truck with the flames on here who's been going rounds i think they might both be undefeated right now this could be i think this is a semifinal it's hard to follow here all right so the good and bad news is michelle lost that's the bad news the good news is they get a run again because it's double elimination so we're gonna see him back up here just a second for the final final run oh there you have it the overall winner for class a here at big rig challenge one hell of a weekend we had a blast here on away
