Welcome to Android Q&A, I'm Jace, and we're here to help you find the best Android tablet for 2014. Today, we'll cover premium, mid-tier, and entry-level options, so let's get started.
In my opinion, the best Android tablet on the market is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S. It's a high-end, premium device that boasts an impressive AMOLED display. The AMOLED display is a big deal because it was also featured in the Galaxy S5, which has been praised as the best display technology by experts at DisplayMate. This tablet has the same display technology as the Galaxy S5 and offers a seamless user experience when switching between applications using the recent app screen. The multi-window feature allows for multitasking, which works just as well as you'd expect from a Samsung flagship Android device.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 will be available at the base price of $399, while its bigger brother, the Galaxy Tab S 10.5, will come in at $499. If you're looking for a mid-range option, I'd recommend the LG G Pad 8.3. This device is made from an attractive aluminum clad and features an 8.3-inch 1920x1200 LCD display. It's powered by a Snapdragon 600 CPU, has 2 gigabytes of RAM, and comes with plenty of additional specs that make it a solid option compared to other 7 and 8 inch tablets.
The LG G Pad 8.3 also features the Optimus UI, which includes growing numbers of processing-intensive features without causing any true stutter or lag when browsing. Gamers will be pleased to know that demanding games like Dead Trigger run smoothly on this device. The usual assortment of bells and whistles on the G Pad 8.3 includes Dual Band Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity, although the latter is only available in some markets primarily in Europe.
Of course, we couldn't discuss Android tablets without mentioning the Nexus 7 2013. For the price, it's a fantastic Android tablet that has improved smoothness and speed compared to its predecessor. The 2013 edition features a 7-inch LCD display with 1920x1200 resolution and runs on a 1.5 quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It also boasts a wider range of colors than the original Nexus 7, an Adreno 320 graphics card, 2 gigabytes of RAM, 16 to 32 gigabytes of storage, a 5 megapixel camera, a 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera, dual speakers, and Bluetooth 4.0.
Pricing for the Nexus 7 2013 starts at $229 for the base 16 gigabyte model and goes up to $269 for the higher storage capacity option. A major factor that sets this device apart is that it's a Nexus device, which means it receives Android updates before anyone else. This is always good news for Android lovers.
