All the clothes I impulse purchased this 2020
**My Most Warm Clothing Items of 2020: A Journey Through Emotional Shopping**
Welcome to my most warm clothing items of 2020. Ah, 2020—how do I even begin this video? I definitely emotionally purchased many of the items that I did not need this year. Some people are emotional eaters, and I’m definitely an emotional shopper. So hopefully, this video is helpful for you. When 2021 comes around, and things are still rough (hopefully not), you can actually purchase closet staples and not just a bunch of impulsive things like I did.
Here are my best emotional impulse shopping picks of 2020. These are my favorite pair of jeans that I have literally ever owned. They were also really inexpensive, which is just a cherry on top. But funny story: when I was at the store looking to buy these jeans, they only had them in a size way too big for me or one size too small. So you guessed it—I got the one size too small. So they’re a little bit tight—we kind of got like really skinny jeans on the top and mom jeans on the bottom. I’ve never had pants that I absolutely loved but also took off immediately when I got home because they get uncomfortable really quickly. But beauty is painful, and I still love these jeans. Which maybe is a little messed up, but that’s the truth.
I also normally wear pretty form-fitting crop tops, so the silhouette and mom jeans—as I’m sure everyone knows because they’re so trendy—compliment crop tops and other form-fitting shirts really well. It just overall creates a much more interesting silhouette than skinny jeans. Okay, my new current obsession is colored cargo pants. Which feels really niche when I say it out loud. And I was that girl done when people got the same thing in like multiple colors. But now I’m *that* girl for cargo pants—they’re really loose-fitting and lightweight. So I’ve been wearing them in the summer and the winter, which is fantastic. And they’re also like easy-ish to style—like you do have to find a shirt that goes with the bonus of the pants—but once you do, it automatically looks really put together even if you just have like a t-shirt on or crop top on with your pants.
One of my absolute, absolute dress favorites have been tight little dresses like this one or the one I’m actually wearing in this video. They’re really simple—just like straight silhouette—and they’re form-fitting. They have these little spaghetti straps, and what I love about them is they’re great for summer. You can just wear them plain by themselves. You could also wear a little shirt underneath, like I’m doing, or even a turtleneck if it’s pretty cold. You can literally dress them for any season. I love that you can wear them all year long. Also these dresses—I don’t know why they just like make me think of like picnics. I like literally plan picnics around wearing these dresses and taking pictures in them. If that’s not the most basic thing you’ve ever heard, then I don’t know what it is.
Next up we have jewelry—jewelry brings us to today’s sponsor analysis. Jewelry just by the fact that this is my third time talking about Anna Louisa, you know how much I love them. Christmas time is coming up, so they are a fantastic gift to give to other people or to yourself like I’m doing. Their jewelry is buy one get one 40% off internationally, and then if you’re in the US, you can also get a free travel case if you spend over $150. And if you want to order their degree as a Christmas gift, you can get ready-to-go boxes, little personalized notes so you can send it right to someone across the country because I know a lot of families and friends are separated this year due to COVID and we’re all throughout the country. So luckily through them, if you want to send it to someone as a gift and you can’t be with them, you can add those little personalized touches through their gift boxes and their personalized notes.
But let’s talk about their jewelry because that’s what really matters. They have a very like minimal dainty style which I absolutely love. And the pieces that I’m currently getting in the mail—I’m so excited about because there’s some layered necklaces which I absolutely love. They have sets of layered necklaces that you can get, so everything is already paired up for you or you can buy their individual necklaces and also layer them if you want. Like I said, all the jewelry is kind of a similar style, so you can really pair any pieces together, and they’ll all go together. I’ve always bought my jewelry just from a ton of random places—I’d just see something like it, buy it; another time, see a different piece of jewelry, like you buy it—which isn’t a bad strategy but none of my pieces go together. So I’m very excited to have the majority of my jewelry be from one company that I really love that has a similar umbrella style so I can really pair anything together at any time for any outfits.
They also have a really great sustainable mission—they offset 100% of their carbon emissions, so they are officially carbon neutral. Which is a win-win for the environment, and I love supporting brands that not only are good quality and not only have good prices—not only care about their customers but also really care about the environment. It can definitely be expensive to shop sustainably, so I really like that they do have reasonable prices and they have a sustainable mission.
Next are dress pants—I never thought I’d be like a dress pants blazer kind of girl, and I’m not really, but I work in the film industry which 99.99% of the time is super casual. I would never ever dress nice going to a job in my career in the film industry—which is pretty short because I just graduated college—but every now and then I get tossed like “you need dress pants and a blazer outfit for a job interview.” Which now that it’s quarantined and everything’s on zoom, no one would ever see my fancy dress pants but in a normal world, these come in handy for job interviews. In all seriousness, I’ve actually been wearing these around the house a lot when I like know I’m not going to go anywhere and I just want to feel productive and fancy but still super comfortable.
So definitely recommend especially if you work at home and you just want to feel nice while sitting on your couch with your laptop. Speaking of laying around the house with still wanting to look fashionable, my go-to 98% of days has been big oversized comfy sweatshirts with cool graphics—they are so comfy. Plus, if you get an oversized one, they’re like really chunky silhouette to me it looks like pretty cool and kind of badass with like big chunky sneakers, mom jeans also. Fun fact about this New Orleans sweatshirt I got it on vacation in New Orleans but for some reason every time I wear it anywhere, some cashier asked if I’m from New Orleans which I’m not, but it’s a great segue into a conversation because this 2020 quarantine season I really lack social interactions and how to make small talk these days because nothing’s going on in my life. So I use this as a conversation starter because everyone asks me if I’m from there. So it’s great for fashion and socializing. That was a really niche story that I’m sure will not happen to you.
Also, my grandma actually painted this Mickey sweatshirt that I’m wearing—so shout out Grandma for her craftiness. This may be my actual like most worn item of 2020. Like my actual most born item it’s this little white little eyelet shirt that’s what I call it that I’m wearing under this dress. It has these little like eyelid lettuce trim sleeves—it’s white, it’s cropped, it’s very simple and so I use it for layering so much—like so much I wear it under a ton of dresses. It’s great with all the colored pants that I showed earlier because it’s really simple. Sometimes I tie it up just to add some more like um… to it—it looks great if you have like a really cool jacket and you can definitely tell how much I wear it by how stretched out it is. It used to be like completely form-fitting, like super tight, and now it’s like decently loose.
Okay, this is my best refine of not just 2020 but ever—I got this super cool Levi’s men’s jacket. It’s super oversized, it’s also really baggy but it still fits and doesn’t like drown me in the amount of fabric it has. I consider this jacket my like mom jeans jacket—my mom’s jacket because it’s so big. It works great with really slim silhouettes like those like tiny little dresses that I showed you guys—you can also wear it off the shoulder for some cool insta-body pics, like all the celebs do but no one actually does in real life. Just all around a fantastic jacket.
Okay now we’re moving on to shoes—and my most worn shoes are incredibly basic so I’m just going to touch on them super briefly. My first is white chunky sneakers—they’re like Air Force ones but Skechers and 50 dollars cheaper. They also have so much padding. Growing up, I wore basically exclusively white Converse, white high-top powers for like the past eight years, and it wasn’t until this year that I branched out into a different pair of white shoes. And let me tell you—I didn’t realize that other shoes had like padding. These are so comfortable—do all shoes have padding because white Converse they don’t—they don’t.
All right no surprise here up next aren’t Doc Martens? I debated getting these since I was like in eighth grade—that was like nine years ago oh my god—and I just now ended up getting a pair, I think over the summer and they’re just like the best boots. Like why did I not get these like nine years ago? I feel like me and these shoes missed out on so much time together—so many photo shoots we could have had, so many picnics, so many frogs in the woods if I just wanted to pull the trigger sooner on getting you, we could have so many memories together. Okay, this is getting kind of weird let’s move on.
Next accessories these are what I like to call my frat daddy socks—I love them so much—they’re like what every white boy in a polo to ever exist wears but colorful and with fun patterns. I’ve never been like a big shoe person—i always like i said just wear white converse everywhere, so now that I actually have like invested in like some cooler shoes, I like colored socks because they actually draw attention to your shoes so people actually notice the cool shoe purchases you’ve made. I also just really like playing with color—that’s like anything I’ve discovered this year as you can see by the cargo pan.
Okay next we’ve got purses—now have I got purses on, purses on, purses let me tell you—I’ve got purses. I do have to admit something before I talk about these prices—I actually acquired a lot of purses this year—I don’t i i haven’t actually worn them a lot so these are not one of my most worn accessories in 2020 but they are what I hope to have as my most worn accessories of 2021. I literally have a phone wallet like a really ratchet like it’s falling apart phone wallet just so I don’t have to carry anything around besides what can fit in my pockets and i kind of hate purses for just like the functionality of having to carry them but I really love how they look—so here’s to hoping that 2021 is full of many purses.
Also, I was recently cleaning out my childhood bedroom and I found some purses that I got for Christmas gifts when I was like five, six, seven, eight years old and I actually really liked them—they look like all these purses that are like coming back from like the 2000s that you probably see on like your Depop homepage every day. And at first I was really excited—like dang, I don’t gotta buy them from Depop like I own purses like the detail purses—but then the more I thought about it stuff from my childhood is now coming back in trends it made me feel kind of old. Kids who were like 13 just think they like discovered these like kid purses but I like grew up with them—my boyfriend just bought a cassette player like if we had just kept ours when we were like five, we could have been selling them for some monies now whatever anyway.
