A Fan's Experience: Meeting Favorite Authors at Comic-Con and Signing Events
I had the absolute pleasure of attending several signing events and meeting some of my favorite authors at Comic-Con. I was excited to get my hands on some signed copies of their books, but what made these experiences even more special were the interactions with the authors themselves.
One of the highlights of my weekend was when I met Marissa Meyer, author of The Lunar Chronicles. I had only read Winter, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and I was thrilled to meet her in person. She signed Cinder and Winter, both of which she inscribed with a personal message. Although I was eager to chat with her about her books, I didn't want to take up too much time, knowing that her line was long and she had a lot of fans waiting for their turn.
Despite the initial rush of excitement, I managed to tell her how much I loved her books and how they introduced me to the world of sci-fi. She was incredibly nice and sweet, and it was clear that she was exhausted from the long day at Comic-Con. I appreciated her kindness and generosity, not only with the signed books but also with her time.
My next author encounter was with John Green's brother, Hank Green, who is the author of The Chronicles of Nick series. However, I ended up meeting Zach Brewer, the author of The Chronicles of Nick as well. I had read all four books in the series, and I was a huge fan. When I finally got to meet him, I was like a nervous wreck, but he was incredibly kind and down-to-earth.
He signed my copy of Eighth Grade Bleeds, which is one of the first books I read in the series, and personalized it with "Zach with the fangs." He also signed 12th Grade Kills, another book that holds a special place in my heart. As a huge fan, I was thrilled to have this opportunity to meet him, even if it was brief.
Another highlight of my weekend was when I met Kiera Cass, author of The Selection series. Although her line was long, she was still kind and gracious with the fans waiting for their turn. She signed my copies of Selection and Real Beauty, both of which hold a special place in my heart as one of my favorite series.
Kiera's genuine smile and kindness put me at ease, and I loved chatting with her about her books. It was amazing to see how much enthusiasm and energy she still had despite the long day at Comic-Con. As a huge fan of The Selection series, it was incredible to meet Kiera and thank her for creating such an amazing world and characters.
The Last Three Books: A Sign of the Times
As I mentioned earlier, my sign collection grew significantly over the weekend, with a total of 16 signed books in hand. I had been eagerly waiting for these events and was thrilled to see so many authors gathered together.
One of the last signings I attended was a one-time event featuring Cassandra Clare and Holly Black. Although their schedules are unpredictable, they both showed up, and it was an amazing experience to have them sign all three books in The Mortal Instruments series.
However, I didn't get the chance to take a picture with either author, as my schedule changed unexpectedly. Nevertheless, their interactions with fans were genuine and warm, making me feel like I was part of something special.
A Few Words on Sign Books
As a fan of signed books, I can attest to the fact that there's nothing quite like having them in your collection. The excitement and joy of meeting an author, getting a personalized message, and holding a book that you love is truly unmatched.
If you've ever been to a signing event or met an author, what was it like? What books did they sign for you? Were there any memorable moments or interactions with the authors?
