**Tip 1: Using Instagram and Facebook to Customize Your Backdrop**
The first tip is to use Instagram and Facebook to customize your backdrop pictures. To do this, you need to go to the Google Home app and select "Devices" at the top right corner of the screen. Then, click on "Personalized Background and More", and select Facebook as one of the options. Next, connect your Facebook account and choose which photos you want to display on your Chromecast device's backdrop. In this case, the author chooses to display their profile pictures and Instagram photos.
This feature allows you to personalize your Chromecast device with your favorite photos from Facebook or other sources. You can also adjust the speed at which the photos appear on screen, as well as add weather settings or featured photos from Google. By customizing your backdrop, you can make your Chromecast device more visually appealing and create a unique experience for viewers.
**Tip 2: Exploring the Offers Tab in the Google Home App**
The second tip is to explore the offers tab in the Google Home app. To do this, go into the Google Home app and click on the "Settings" option at the top left corner of the screen. Then, scroll down to the "Offers" section and select it. This will show you a list of available offers that you can take advantage of with your Chromecast device.
The author mentions several examples of offers that are currently available, including six months of YouTube Premium for free (a $10 value per month), three months of HBO GO for free, a 75% discount on a three-month rental of premium Spotify, and 90 days of Google Play Music for free. These offers can be a great way to get more value out of your Chromecast device and enhance your viewing experience.
**Tip 3: Mirroring Your Computer Screen to the Chromecast**
The third tip is to mirror your computer screen to the Chromecast using a special extension in Google Chrome. To do this, first install the Google Cast extension on your computer by going to the Google Chrome app, clicking on "Apps", and searching for "Chromecast". Once installed, click on the three dots at the top right corner of the Chrome browser window and select "Chrome cast" from the dropdown menu.
This will allow you to mirror what is on your computer screen to the Chromecast device. The author notes that this feature is great when you want to show others something on your computer, but it's not available for all websites or videos. Additionally, if you're using YouTube, you can simply click on the "Cast" button and select "Chromecast" to send the video to your TV.
**Tip 4: Casting Videos from YouTube**
The fourth tip is to cast videos from YouTube to your Chromecast device. To do this, go to the YouTube app on your phone or computer, find a video that you want to share with others, and click on the three dots at the top right corner of the screen. Then, select "Cast" from the dropdown menu.
If the video is available for casting to your Chromecast device, it will appear as an option in the list of available devices. Simply select your Chromecast device from the list and click on "Cast" again to send the video to your TV. The author notes that this feature allows you to easily share videos with others without having to worry about complicated setup or technical issues.
**Tip 5: Playing Google Play Music through the Chromecast Fireplace**
The final tip is to play Google Play Music through the Chromecast Fireplace visualizer. To do this, first go to the Google Play Music app on your phone and create a playlist that you want to listen to. Then, go into the Google Home app and click on "Settings" at the top left corner of the screen.
In the Settings menu, scroll down to the "Labs" section and select it. This will allow you to enable the Chromecast Fireplace visualizer feature, which displays a fireplace in the background while playing music through your Chromecast device. The author notes that this feature is great for creating a cozy atmosphere while listening to music or watching videos on your TV.
The author concludes by thanking viewers for watching the video and encourages them to check out other YouTube channels, including Jimmy as Promo and DJ iWeb, which offer additional tips and content related to Chromecast usage.
