Sling TV 2016 Review

**A Review of Sling TV: Pros, Cons, and Overall Experience**

I've been using Sling TV for about a month now, and I'm happy to say that it's been a decent experience. For $20 a month, I get access to a live TV service with some on-demand content, which is a great value compared to traditional cable or satellite TV. However, there are some caveats to consider.

One of the things that bugs me about Sling TV is its reliance on internet connectivity. If my internet goes down, so does my TV. And if my internet gets slow, it can affect the quality of my viewing experience. I've seen this happen a few times, where my audio or video becomes pixelated or has funky audio issues. These are things that you wouldn't typically get with cable TV, and they're not ideal.

I've tested Sling TV on different devices, including a Roku, Chromecast, Fire TV stick, iPad, and iPhone. And I have to say, the best experience I've had so far is on my Amazon Fire device. It's just faster and more responsive than the other devices I've tried. The remote control on the Fire device is also a nice feature that I don't get with Chromecast or Roku.

One of the things that I wish Sling TV had was a return button, which would allow me to easily go back to the channel I was watching previously without having to navigate through the clunky interface. And another thing that's missing is picture and picture functionality, which would allow me to browse around while still viewing something.

Despite its flaws, I do think Sling TV adds enough value to my life that I'm going to keep it for now. It's a great option for people who want to cut the cord but don't need all the bells and whistles of traditional cable or satellite TV. And at $20 a month, it's an affordable way to stay connected to live sports and news.

**The Importance of Internet Connectivity**

One thing that I think is essential to consider when using Sling TV is internet connectivity. If your internet goes down, so does your TV. This means that you'll be cut off from all the channels and content that you're paying for. And if your internet gets slow, it can affect the quality of your viewing experience.

I've had my internet slow a few times while using Sling TV, and it's been frustrating to deal with. The audio or video becomes pixelated or has funky issues, and it's just not ideal. This is something that you wouldn't typically get with cable TV, where the connection is usually stable and reliable.

**Testing Sling TV on Different Devices**

I've tested Sling TV on a variety of devices to see how well it performs in different situations. The Roku was slow and unresponsive at times, while the Chromecast worked okay but had some issues with audio. The Fire TV stick was the best performer by far, with a smooth and fast experience.

The iPad was also a great device for Sling TV, allowing me to browse around while still watching something. And the iPhone was usable, although it wasn't the most ideal device for watching TV.

**My Experience with Sling TV**

Overall, I'm happy with my experience using Sling TV. It's been a decent service that adds enough value to my life to make it worth paying for. However, there are some caveats and limitations that I wish were different.

One thing that I miss is the ability to browse around while still watching something. With traditional cable or satellite TV, this is easy to do using features like picture-in-picture. But with Sling TV, it's not an option.

Another thing that bugs me is the clunky interface. While it's not terrible, it's definitely not intuitive and takes some getting used to. I've had to navigate through menus and options to find what I'm looking for, which can be frustrating at times.

**The Benefits of Sling TV**

Despite its limitations, I do think that Sling TV has some benefits that make it worth considering. One of the main advantages is the lack of contract requirements. With traditional cable or satellite TV, you're often locked into a contract that can be difficult to get out of.

With Sling TV, this is not an issue. You can cancel your service at any time without penalty or obligation. This makes it a great option for people who want to try out live TV but aren't sure if they'll like it.

Another benefit of Sling TV is its ease of use. With no technician required to set up the system, you can get started right away and start watching your favorite channels and shows.

**What's Missing from Sling TV**

While Sling TV has some great features, there are a few things that are missing from the service. One thing that I wish it had was picture and picture functionality. This would allow me to browse around while still viewing something, which is a feature that I'm used to having with traditional cable or satellite TV.

Another thing that's missing is a return button. With Sling TV, you have to navigate through menus and options to find what you're looking for, which can be frustrating at times.

Overall, these are minor complaints, and I do think that Sling TV adds enough value to my life to make it worth paying for.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey what's going on guys it's Chris from daily tech and today I've got a video on sling TV for you guys and if you're not sure what that is sling TV is a slimmed-down internet cable package that only costs 20 dollars per month for the base package by far that pricing is the best thing about sling so 20 dollars for the base package plus five dollars per extra pack pack of extras whatever so you can get like a sports pack or a family pack or a movie pack whatever you want each of those packs is $5.00 per month and there's some really pretty decent selections so for that price you're going to be able to get channels like ESPN espn2 epics a bunch of ethics channels which are movie channels included in the base package AMC TNT TBS and actually it's because of sling that I was able to watch the NBA Finals this year which I really enjoyed I watched some of it on my TV and some of it on my iPad and it was a great experience so the pricing is probably one of the best things about sling but one of the worst things is the inconsistencies what I mean by that is some shows have ads and some don't some shows have on-demand content and some don't and the only way to figure out what's what and how things work is just by surfing through and flipping through all the different channels and finding out for yourself alright in terms of quality what's the quality like well the quality is pretty good it's not 4k but you know from the couch just sitting there and watching it's good it's decent I'm happy with it for 20 bucks a month but that said you are kind of hostage to your internet situation so if the internet goes down so does your TV and if your internet gets slow so does your TV and there have been times when I've seen that sling tries to degrade gracefully but it still isn't the best experience when that does happen so if your internet slows up you know maybe your audio is going to get a little funky or it's going to get pixelated those aren't things that you would get with cable TV so it's something that you kind of have to put up with if you are looking for that lower price point so sling something that you're considering I would definitely make sure you've got enough Internet bandwidth piping it to your house number one and number two that you've got a consistent and reliable router and modem setup so for me I've got 50 Meg's piping into the house which seems to work just fine for this I'm also using a brand new tp-link archer router which I just covered a couple videos back if you're interested in that now there's one thing that really really really really really really really bugs me about sling and that's the interface it's just not intuitive it's slow and it's clunky and it has some glitches it's usable don't get me wrong I wouldn't be still a paying subscriber if I couldn't use it it's usable it's just it needs a lot of improvement so so far I've tested sling TV on a Roku a chromecast a fire TV stick as well as my iPad and iPhone I have to say without a doubt the best experience so far has been on Amazon fire device it's just faster I like the remote which you don't get in chromecast and the Roku is just slow watch out on your phone it's ok like in a pinch watching on an iPad that is awesome if you're on the couch or in bed or traveling in fact watchin on the iPad is one of my favorite sling experiences because when you're watching something that does have commercials you can just multitask get out of the app and go do something else and check back in when those commercials are over one thing I'm sort of bummed about is that this isn't on the Apple TV right now if it was that would be killer that'd be like an ultimate feature I don't know if Apple is actually going to come out with their own TV package it's rumored that sling TV is coming to the Apple TV if it does that's going to make me a really geek out one thing that's amazing about sling if you're comparing it to cable or satellite is that there's no contract that's awesome that's one of the reasons that you can just try this out if you don't like it just get rid of it it's also great you can just get this all set up yourself really easy it's just apps and signing up for an account no technician needed now there's a couple of things that sling desperately needs in my opinion one of those is a return button so you can easily flash back to the channel that you were on previously without having to go through the clunky interface that is such a pain and the second thing is picture and picture it'd be really great if you could browse around with one channel open while you're searching or something else you can see either when a commercial ends or just pay attention while you're looking for something else I don't know picture and picture that is needed so what's my overall experience an impression with this it's weird for me being somebody who has basically not watched cable for like last decade and who's been used to Netflix and Hulu and YouTube and everything on-demand to come to an experience where it's live and with a little bit of on-demand that's kind of hard to get used to and at the same time it is kind of cool like to be able to sit down and just turn on the TV and start watching something whatever is on like you used to do when I was a kid I mean sometimes you just want to do that and you don't want to spend 20 minutes surfing through Netflix just to realize there's nothing that you really want to watch any wasted a bunch of time but it do really kind of resent that not everything has an on-demand option that kind of makes me feel like what's the point so with all that said despite its flaws it's cheap enough and it adds enough value to my life that I think I'm going to keep it for now hit subscribe if you want more stuff like this I'm off to shoot a drone video right now and follow me on snapchat if you're not already it got all kinds of behind the scenes going on right now for building my dream desk I'll catch up with you guys the next video laterhey what's going on guys it's Chris from daily tech and today I've got a video on sling TV for you guys and if
