Taking a Look at iOS 10.3 Beta 4: What's New and What to Expect?
As we take a look at the build number for iOS 10.3 beta 4, which is 14D27, it's clear that this is likely the final build before the release of the final version. The build number shows a significant decrease from previous versions, with 14D23 being the most recent. Given the late release of this beta in the week and at the end of the day, it's reasonable to assume that this is the GM build, or more specifically, the GM build for the iOS 10.2.1 beta.
While the build number itself doesn't reveal much, the fact that it was released so late in the week suggests that Apple may be trying to get everything out of the way before the next version is announced. Given the history of Apple's release cycles, it's likely that we'll see the final version of iOS 10.3 sometime early next week, possibly on Monday or Tuesday.
One thing that's clear from beta 4 is that there are still some known bugs present. One of the issues that was reported in the forums, and which I've personally never experienced but is still out there, is a music bug that prevents users who aren't a part of the Palooza Can Scrubber group from tapping on the artist name to go to their songs page. This issue was identified by MacRumors, and it's likely that Apple will address this in the final version.
Aside from the bugs, there doesn't appear to be much new or different about beta 4 compared to beta 3. The battery life is still the same, and the performance is also unchanged. It's likely that these things will remain the same throughout the development cycle for iOS 10.3.
In other news, it's worth noting that Sonny Dixon's rumored release date for iOS 10.3 was incorrect, and we can now expect the final version to be released to registered developers soon after the public release of the update. While we don't know exactly when this will happen, it's likely to be relatively soon.
Finally, let's take a look at jailbreaking, which is always a topic of interest for many users. The latest beta 4 extends the signing period for iOS 10.2 until after the next release, which in this case would be iOS 10.1. However, if you want to know more about this in-depth, you can check out my spreadsheet on Twitter, where I've compiled some statistics on the days between iOS versions and their corresponding signing periods.
It's also worth noting that jailbreaking is still a topic of interest for many users, and there are still some tips and tricks available for those who want to take control of their device. If you're interested in learning more about this, I've got a tutorial on saving your iOS 10.2 SHSH2 blobs while they're still signed, as well as some general guidance on how to handle the situation if your device is no longer supported by Apple.
Of course, one thing that's always uncertain when it comes to jailbreaking is whether we'll see an actual release of the jailbreak tool from Luca Todesco. As someone who has released a solo jailbreak in the past, Luca faces some significant hurdles before he can make this happen. While his team is certainly capable and competent, there are still many unknowns when it comes to the development cycle for iOS 10.3.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up guys my name is Brandon an apple just released iOS 10 point to point 1 beta 4 to both developers and the public just a few days after releasing the very unexpected I OS 10.2 point 1 beta 3 and it's just proves that nobody really knows what to expect from Apple anymore these days I mean this update came you know three hours later than the usual Iowa 10 updates these beta updates as of late and then plus it was later in the week as well this is Thursday so this is a lot later and it was pretty unexpected but anyways let's just talk about what's new in iOS 10 point to point 1 beta 4 and then talk about the iOS 10 through 10.2 jailbreak and how this fourth beta impacts it all right so as you can see this update came in at 32 and a half megabytes on an iphone 7 coming from 10 point to point 1 beta 3 and just like beta 3 there aren't going to be very many changes whatsoever most if not all of the few changes that are even included in this beta update are mostly going to be bug fixes or just back in changes that we can't even physically see all right so as usual let's go ahead and take a look at the build number 4 beta 4 so as you can see right there it's 14 d27 prepared to beta 3 14 d23 and now you can't really tell much anymore from the build number since they're pretty much all so similar but given the late release of this beta late in the week and also late in the day I'd really just imagine that this is the GM build and the c10 points 2.1 beta or the final version rather will be released early next week probably on Monday or Tuesday and really it just makes a lot of sense at this point I mean we're on the fourth beta nobody really expected more than two betas it came too late in the week pretty much everything just points to this being the GM build but of course as I said earlier nobody really knows what to expect from Apple anymore so I could be completely wrong and there can be eight data who knows now I quickly ran through all the settings the toggles and everything like I normally do and just like beta 3 there's really nothing at all new with beta 4 however there are some known bugs still there in beta 4 and one of them is the music bug it's basically if you're not a a palooza can scrubber and you tap on the artist name to go to the songs of that artist it doesn't show up so basically if you just click on this and then it takes you to this page if you click the artist name right there it doesn't take you to that artist page so that is just one of the known bugs I saw it on the forum macrumors I've never experienced this I never even tried to do that but apparently it's still out there in a known bug right now with 10-point 2.1 aside from that though there isn't really anything to talk about at all with this beta 4 and you know the battery life is probably the exact same for performance probably be the exact same really just nothing new with this beta also as you may know by now Sonny Dixon's rumored iOS 10.3 release date was wrong and we're forced to wedding for the first date of 10.3 to roll out to registered developers and of course we really aren't sure when that update will be out but it shouldn't be too much longer after the public release the final release up 10 points 2.1 all right now let's talk a little bit about jailbreaking there's really not much that's change but I kind of just want to reiterate something so just like with beta 3 this fourth beta of 10 points 2.1 extends the signing period of iOS 10.2 since the next release which in this case would be 10 point to point one hasn't been released yet and usually Apple waits at least seven days until after the next iOS version gets released before closing the signing period on the previous version now if you want to know more in depth statistics about this as in the days between iOS versions in the signing period you can check out my Twitter actually made a spreadsheet showing that ever since version 9.0 now since there has been a 10 point to jailbreak announced and it was also confirmed by luca and Sorkin's themselves you need to go ahead and save your iOS 10.2 sh sh two blobs right away while still being signed i made a tutorial on this you can go and check it out in the cards l and also in the descriptions this we're going to allow you to update the 10.2 or downgraded 10.2 after it stops being signed now if you're on 10-point 1.1 you need to stay there for now and just wait for the 10 point to point one final public release video which in that video I'll be running down what you should do you know tons of situations and whether you should update or when you should think about updating and that's for when Luca Tedesco will release the gamma version of yahoo my guess is really as good as yours right now I mean there's really no telling you know this is one of the very few times ever wear a solo person has released a jailbreak and there's just you know tons of hurdles to jump for Luca so I mean it's really just unsafe nobody knows right now when the gamma release will be out sort of ways guys that is iOS 10 point to point 1 beta 4 hope you enjoyed this video again I'd expect the final release to be most likely next week early next week but again you really don't know what to expect from Apple these days but anyways hope you guys enjoyed this video I'll catch you guys real
