Pixel 7 vs. Pixel 7A - Spec Comparison

A Look at the Google Pixel 7A: A Closer Examination

The Google Pixel 7A has several features that are similar to its predecessor, the Pixel 6A. One notable similarity is the metal camera bar with a cutout for the camera lenses that was introduced by Google with the Pixel 7. However, there are some differences in color options between the two devices. While both phones come in Snow, which is their shared colors end. The Pixel 7A also comes in Charcoal C and Coral, whereas you can get the Pixel 7 in Obsidian and Lemongrass.

In terms of display, the Pixel 7A has a 6.1-inch OLED screen with a 2400 x 1080 pixel resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. It is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. On the other hand, the Pixel 7 has a slightly larger 6.3-inch OLED display also with that same 2400 x 1080 pixel resolution and 90Hz refresh rate, but its screen features what Corning claims to be more durable Gorilla Glass Victus cover glass.

The Pixel 7A is nine millimeters thick and weighs 193.5 grams, while the Pixel 7 is eight point seven millimeters thick and weighs 197 grams, making the Pixel 7A slightly thicker but still a little lighter than the Pixel 7. The Pixel 7A only offers an 128 GB storage option, whereas the Pixel 7 comes in both 128 GB and 256 GB storage options. However, both phones come with eight gigabytes of RAM, which is exciting since the Pixel 6A had only six gigabytes of RAM.

Both phones are powered by Google's latest Tensor G2 processor, which was introduced last year with the Pixel 7. Both devices feature a dual rear camera system, but their camera specs differ slightly. The Pixel 7A has a 64 megapixel wide camera with an F1.89 lens and an 80-degree field of view as well as a 13 megapixel Ultra-wide camera with an F2.2 lens and a 120-degree Field view. On the other hand, the Pixel 7 has a 50 megapixel wide camera with an F1.85 lens and an 82-degree field of view plus a 12 megapixel Ultra-wide camera with an F2.2 lens and a 114-degree field of view.

The front cameras on both phones also differ slightly, with the Pixel 7A having a 13 megapixel front camera with an F2.2 lens and a 95-degree ultra-wide field of view, whereas the Pixel 7 has a 10.8 megapixel front camera with an F2.2 lens and a 92.8-degree ultra-wide field of view.

Both phones can record video up to 4K at 30 and 60 frames per second, but they share many other features like slow-mo video support up to 240 frames per second and astrophotography time-lapse. However, the Pixel 7 has a feature called cinematic blur, or Google's version of portrait mode for video, which is not available on the Pixel 7A.

When it comes to unlocking your phone, both devices offer face unlock as an option. It's exciting that the Pixel 7A features this because the Pixel 6 did not. You can also unlock the phones with a pattern, pin, or password, or even use your fingerprint thanks to an under-display fingerprint sensor in both phones.

Battery Life and Charging

Google claims that the Pixel 7A has a 24-hour plus battery life, but Lisa atachiko found that the battery life of her Pixel 7 got her through a day. However, she suggested packing a charger for long days when you plan on using battery-intensive features. Both devices support USB-C and wireless charging as well as fast charging.
