iPhone X tips and tricks you need to know
**iPhone 10 Review: Tips and Tricks**
If you're planning to buy an iPhone 10, I thought the swipe to close option had disappeared with the new device, but thankfully, it's still there. Additionally, quick shout out to David and Chad Michael for the love of music, and James Baker for pointing this out so soon after the release of my 3-day review.
One of the biggest changes with the iPhone 10 is how to close apps. To open up the app switcher, you can swipe up and hold, then press and hold until you see the little closed icons, and then you can swipe up to close them just as on previous iPhones. However, opening up the apps can feel a little bit sluggish if you just swipe and hold straight up, but as Jayden Dickinson, a Morello gamer pointed out, you can actually swipe up into the right to enable "Fill" which is a bit quicker.
**Reach Ability**
Even though the iPhone 10 is only a little bit larger than the iPhone 8, stretching all the way up to the top of that screen can be a little bit hard, especially for Mike Donald Trump sized hands. Reach ability doesn't come enabled on the iPhone 10 by default, so you can turn it on by going to Settings > General > Accessibility and then Reach Ability. Once activated, you access it by swiping down at the very bottom of the screen.
**Accessing Siri and Apple Pay**
The removal of the home button has moved these two features to the side button. To access Siri, simply long press on the side button, while to use Apple pay, DoubleTap under "Apple Pay". If you're wondering how to turn the phone off, since serious, now a long press on that side button is required.
**Face ID**
I've never wants to go back to touch ID, but face ID works brilliantly and I've grown accustomed to it. However, what if you need to disable it? To do so, hold either of the volume buttons and the side button until you feel a little vibration, then face ID is disabled and the only way to get in is to use your passcode. After you've entered your passcode and locked it again, face ID will automatically reenable.
**Disabling Face ID for Non-Attention Mode**
If you want to unlock your iPhone without looking directly at it, as standard, you need to be looking directly at your iPhone with your eyes open and paying attention to unlock it. However, if you're someone who just likes to quickly glance at your phone or look at it out of the corner of your eye to see notifications, well, you can actually disable the need for you to be paying attention head to Settings > Face ID & Accessibility and then toggle off "Attention" to turn this feature on. However, remember that this will also make the iPhone less secure as the control sensor is now all the way to the top of the screen.
**Flashlight and Camera Icons**
Apple has implemented two new icons at the bottom of the lockscreen for quicker access to two of the most used functions - the flashlight and camera. You can 3D touch these icons to access them, which is a whole lot quicker and easier to do without looking at your phone, especially the flashlight.
**Glance Bar**
The love-it-or-hate-it notch at the top has taken away some room from the usual info bar, taking away the option C battery percentage. Thankfully though, you can still glance at it by swiping down on the control center from the top right of the screen and you'll get to see that useful percentage once again.
**Force Restart**
If everything has gone wrong and you need to fall back on a traditional restart method, to do so, first press and release the volume up button, then press and release the volume down button, and finally hold the side button until you see the Apple logo. You'll know you've got it right when you see that screen, which is all about face ID if you've seen our iPhone 10 review.
