Syma X5HW-1 FPV Real-Time Drone Unboxing & First Look

The Drone: A Comprehensive Review

This drone, which I'll link to on Amazon right below my Sima X5C, is one that I've been eyeing for quite some time. The price point of $40 is hard to beat, especially considering what you get with it. Six batteries come pre-installed, which means virtually infinite flight time - a feat that's achieved by charging all six batteries simultaneously. This feature alone makes the drone a standout in its class.

The battery life is estimated to be around 10-12 minutes of flight time, which is comparable to the Sima X5C. The drone also offers the option to choose between low power mode and high power mode, allowing users to select their desired level of performance. While flying at higher speeds will sacrifice some battery life, it's a trade-off that many enthusiasts are willing to make.

A Quick Interruption

I wanted to take a moment to address something important before we move on. I've recently discovered that there is no camera attached to the drone, which is surprising given what you'd expect from such an affordable package. Thankfully, this was simply due to my own oversight - one that highlights the importance of taking the time to examine the packaging carefully.

A Note to Viewers

Before we proceed, I want to make a note about something that might be beneficial for new viewers. The drone comes with everything you need right out of the box, including spare blades, a charging cable, and screwdriver. While these may not be necessary immediately, it's always better to be prepared. Additionally, the drone features little feet or lander pieces on its sides - something that can make all the difference when it comes to preventing damage from crashes.

Protecting Your Drone

For those who are new to flying drones like me, I have some personal experience to share. After a month of learning and practicing, I've made significant progress, but I still find myself crashing my drone from time to time. The little feet on the sides of the drone serve as an added layer of protection, preventing damage to the blades in the event of a crash. It's small touches like these that make all the difference when it comes to taking care of your equipment.

The Camera

One feature that really caught my attention is the camera itself - which, thankfully, I was able to connect to the drone by plugging it into the provided connector. The camera produces 720p video quality, although it's worth noting that it's not 1080p. Still, for its price point, this is a significant upgrade from some of my other drones.

A Final Note

Finally, I want to take a moment to thank those who have supported me in the past - particularly GearBest.com, which was kind enough to send over the drone at no charge. They also offer a wide range of other RC-related products, including hoverboards that I've been eyeing for some time now. Who knows? Maybe we can work out a partnership in the future... but that's a story for another time.

Stay Tuned

That's all for now - thanks for watching! In the very near future, you can expect to see more coverage of this drone and my Sima X5C, as well as some other RC-related products. Until then, stay tuned for plenty of exciting content!

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enlet's just consider this my official step into the world of drone reviews and i'm very excited hello guys where are you david branca here from davidoranco.com with my unboxing of this sema or sima question for you is it sima or sima one for sima two for sema but me personally i call it sema so i guess we'll see what happens anyway this is my unboxing of the sema x5 hw1 the new drone now let me give you a little bit of a back story on my experience with sema well i've only had experience with one sema drone and guys i am loving it i have the sema x5c which is like a 40 drone forty dollars sema x5c guys for forty dollars you're getting such an awesome experience i cannot express how much fun i'm having with that drone seriously i love that drone if you have not bought yourself one yet what are you waiting for it is linked right below on amazon treat yourself so anyway gearbest.com reached out to me and said david would you like to review the sema x5hw1 and i said obviously okay so i didn't word myself quite like that that would be quite rude but gearbest.com thank you so much for sending this out i really really appreciate it so let's just unbox this and also as i said in my intro this is my official step into the world of drone reviews and i am quite excited opening z box very tight box you get a very colorful controller i gotta say it's not common at all to get a white radio and while honestly i think that's really cool because most radios let's face it are usually black but this one is white and red and honestly it's giving me like a superhero vibe is it just me i don't know i'm thinking of superheroes or atari or some kind of cartoon i'm not really sure my brain is doing all kinds of things right now but this looks extremely similar to the radio that i currently have for the sema x5c except as i've made very clear the colors are very very different you have two controls right here this is your throttle it's returning rotating over here and if this is just like the cmx 5c this should be the stun button you basically do that and you switch a little bit to left right up or down or wherever and your drone will actually flip and this drone should be no different i love that feature about the sema x5c it is just so much fun and here it is very nice upon first glance and lift it feels mildly mildly heavier than my sema x5c which is not a bad thing that's just a basic observation but i will say this this drone actually looks more professional than the sema x5c because it's got the black blades and simple white body which i like very much and just like the sema x5c we have green lights on the bottom and red lights on the bottom right yeah right down there okay so typically with the sema x5c you always want the green lights facing you that way it's going in the direction you want it to like you know forwards back and whatever but of course you can rotate it in place and have it go the other way let me say one more time you typically want the green lights facing you that just makes it easier for you the pilot so there it is a first look at the sema x5 hw i'm very curious to see if this uses the same battery i don't know we can take it out i don't have my cmx 5c on me right now wow hold on there's a chance this could use the same battery it looks like the same type of battery but a different connector maybe either way you guys know me i'll probably be buying like six batteries for this drone which by the way i will link you on amazon right below my sima x5c i got like six batteries for that thing for maybe twenty dollars what a good deal because you virtually have infinite flight time because you can just keep charging your batteries all at the same time by the way simultaneously six batteries at the same time that's just unreal so um anyway if this is anything like the sema x5c battery life should be pretty good about 10 to 12 minutes of flight time and again if it's like the sema x5c you should have the option of choosing between low power mode and high power mode so basically if you want longer flight time go for the low power mode but you're not going to be able to get as much speed as you would with the high power mode but common sense kicks in you're not going to get as much battery life wait hold up quick interruption for you guys the rest of the video is kind of me being confused as to why there's no camera attached already that's because stupid me didn't turn this over you see this by default but if you do get this drone do not be like me make sure you turn this over because it includes everything else you need you get some spare blades which are always nice but even with that said the sema x5c you're gonna hear me say that a lot in this video i have yet to break any blades on that thing which just blows my mind so hey i mean you might never need these but you know what it doesn't hurt to have them so just saying we also get the little feet you know the lander thingies don't know the technical term as well as a charging cable and a screwdriver cool as well as let's get this off holy tape some guards and to basically go on the sides so when this well if okay hold on let's say when not if because trust me you will be crashing your drone if you're new to it like i am i'm someone new i've been flying for about a month now and i've gotten a lot better but still i mean you will be crouching into things and these guards right here make it so much easier for you the pilot uh because if you bump into walls you will not be damaging these blades which is a huge deal so these right here these little pieces of plastic are kind of lifesavers in a way okay this is maybe it's for your phone this might screw in here and keep your phone in place you know what that's probably it let me fetch my phone back here so then oh yeah there you go cool so your phone kind of sits right there and you can use that as the camera for your drone which is actually something my cmx 5c does not have so this is one of my favorite features that i'm looking forward to with this drone guys i promise you i'm gonna be doing a lot of coverage of this in the very near future so stay tuned and of course we have the camera itself which is hd i don't think it's 1080p but it's definitely 720p there you go put this on the bottom and bada bing bada boom you connect it there's a small little uh connector right there you plug it in back here you're near the power switch might as well do that right now right why not all right the camera is officially plugged in awesome oh and also please try to keep this in mind for the rest of this video you will see the drone without the camera attached again that's just me being non-observant of the other side of the packaging okay there you go resume the video stay tuned for plenty of coverage on this drone as well as my previous drone because that drone has been perfect i cannot express enough guys for 40 dollars it's simply awesome it is the perfect drone for beginners and keep in mind the x5c is my first drone or quadcopter ever so with that said if you're not comfortable with droning well it's time to be comfortable because for 40 bucks you're getting an awesome experience and this one i believe retails for about between like 60 and 70 which i don't think is bad anyway david you could just keep talking guys stay tuned for more coverage on this drone in the very near future and finally one more shout out to gearbest.com they were nice enough to hook me up with this check them out guys they have all kinds of rc things including hoverboards i'm going to try to get my hands on one of those or feet rather i've wanted a hoverboard for so long now and i just can't get one in my possession so gearbest perhaps we can work out some kind of partnership let me know i'll definitely email you guys okay thank you guys so much for watching and i'll see you soonlet's just consider this my official
