DO I HAVE THAT OTHER BOOK Challenge.

**The Book Challenge Experience: Exploring Shelf Favorites**

As I embarked on this book challenge, I realized that it wasn't just about completing a list, but also about rediscovering old favorites and exploring new ones. My journey began with "Kitchen" by Banana Yoshimoto, originally written in Japanese and later translated into English. Although the prompt didn't specifically mention a translated book, I couldn't resist the opportunity to explore an author's work in their native language.

I have a large collection of books in different languages, including Harry Potter and Cassandra Clare novels. However, for this challenge, I chose to focus on a debut own voices YA novel, which led me to "Love Boat Taipei" by Abigail Henwen. This book follows a Taiwanese-American girl who is sent to Taiwan for a summer program, providing her with the opportunity to explore herself and find her true identity away from her parents.

One of my favorite books, "The Invention of Hugo Cabret" by Brian Selznick, caught my eye due to its gorgeous illustrations. With 300 pages of beautiful artwork, this book is a must-read for anyone who loves illustrated children's literature. I've had this book since my elementary school days and have always cherished it. Recently, I've been paying more attention to it, and I'm eager to re-read it.

**Exploring Diversity in Literature**

As I delved deeper into the challenge, I came across "Language of Thorns" by Leigh Bardugo, a collection of short stories that are like fairy tales and myths from the Grisha verse. The book features stunning illustrations throughout, which perfectly accompany the story. Although I hadn't read this one before, it piqued my interest, and I'm excited to add it to my reading list.

Another exciting find was "Vampire Academy" by Rochelle Mead, a paranormal urban fantasy that explores a world where vampires have different variations. The story follows the alliance between the Moroi and the Vampires, which is a fascinating concept. With its narrow front cover, this book caught my attention due to its unusual design.

**The Joy of Discovery**

One of the most rewarding aspects of this challenge was discovering new books that fit specific prompts. "Shadow and Bone" by Leigh Bardugo, for example, was an easy find since it features a broken spine – one of my pet peeves! However, upon closer inspection, I realized that this edition has a solid background, which made it a great match for the challenge.

As I continued through the list, I came across "Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief" by Rick Riordan. Although it didn't fit all three prompts, its cracked spine caught my eye, and I was eager to add it to my collection. I'm particularly proud of myself since I managed to find a book that fits multiple challenges.

**The Significance of Small Details**

Finally, I came across "Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda" by Becky Albertalli, which features a mostly red cover with a special touch – it's signed by the author! This book also caught my eye due to its 303-page length and its exploration of themes that resonate with me. Although it technically counts as four challenges, I'm excited to have discovered this hidden gem.

As I wrapped up this challenge, I realized that it was about more than just checking off boxes – it was about rediscovering old favorites and exploring new ones. Each book on my shelf has a story behind it, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to delve deeper into their worlds.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey what's up hello my name is emma and today i'm doing the do i have that other book challenge this challenge was created by keeping tabs and current chapter and i will link both of their channels below and it is actually a follow-up to a similar first original version of this challenge that i did last year so i will link that below if you want to watch it as well this challenge gives you 20 prompts of different books for you to find on your bookshelf i don't remember if it was initially timed but i feel like i remember timing it last time so that's what i'm going to do again there's no purpose to the time i just want to see how quickly i can complete it because i'm an aries and i'm competitive i wanted to make sure i wasn't familiar with the list of books to find before filming this video so i actually had mama books write them all out for me which was really kind of her and what i did for past challenges like this is i actually just put them all up in a line on my bookshelf so i can just stand in front of it and read the prompt instead of having to like pick up and look at my paper i really like challenges like this i feel like these types of videos sometimes get critique on book two because they don't require an in-depth analysis of what you are reading but they really remind me of the foundation of what types of videos my channel was built on they're super fun and i feel like that's kind of what we all need right now so i'm excited and i hope you are too all right in three two one go okay a fox on the cover or part of the plot i feel like i have some middle grades with foxes on them i think this counts even though this is like a demon fox publish the year you were born or within a three-year radius okay so i was born in 1996 that means 1993 to 1999. i feel like harry potter is going to be my best bet what year was this published uh this was 1999 i said that right that counts cool with music as a weapon or magic um veronica roth which feels very appropriate if not double cyber crime or technology as a plot of the point as a plot point i feel like cyber technology counts for warcross right written in another language or translated to english i think i do have one translated book somewhere or i might have gotten rid of it is it in my other room i think it's in my bedroom hold on i have to find it where is one of my favorites collection of fairy tales or myths isn't language of thorns that i feel like midnight tales and dangerous magic i'm pretty sure sci-fi fantasy with alliance between races um there's gotta be one here come on come on why can't i find any oh duh vampire academy that counts right sure narrow front cover paperback with the front cover slightly trim shorter okay i hate these books and i have a many of them cool includes the first chapter of the sequel oh my god i feel like i just read a book that did that oh goodness i feel like maybe maybe no i feel like not thunderhead one's really gonna be bad come on give me something nope wait no come on it's gotta be one that's like a little older because the second book would have had to have been like published already what about the archives with the archived account oh come on this is so hard and i know right now all of you are like yelling at me in the comments like you have to know it it's this one it's so easy because that's what you do when you're in the comfort of your homes watching my video and i'm stressed out doing it myself oh come on why is this so difficult it has to be i wonder if twilight might care of my spines oh no oh perfect percy jackson and a bonus a book that covers three or more of the above prompts so i have to choose them oh goodness this is gonna take you a minute okay let's do something from over here because i have not used this angle enough do i have a series with mismatched covers no i keep them pretty dang consistent maybe another moon on the cover maybe not why can't we do like trees on the cover i've got tons of those emma and the night might have a moon wait no but i can't just look for one i need to pick something that has multiple oh goodness this is racking up so much time a title that has the same number of letters as your first name okay a short title right there's gotta be more of these right or not maybe that's like really short okay i feel like i could find something 287 to three or six pages would be pretty easy to accomplish could there maybe be a main character that wears glasses that's like that amount this is hard man i was not expecting this and i'm also like i feel like i could use immortal instruments for like 17 of these prompts and i'm just really trying to diversify this list we're not doing includes first chapter of the sequel because that one took me too long okay i am having trouble this is just getting boring all i can think about is how much time i'm wasting i definitely read so many books with characters who have glasses but i just cannot think of any of them at the moment with a shapeshifter did i skip that one i feel like i skipped with a shape shifter um we're gonna go with daughter of the burning city that happened i wonder if i missed any more let's go to middle grade furthermore has a fox on the cover it is 401 pages nope that's too long okay that was a good shot shorter than that okay kingdom of back is there i think this counts as a moon and it is written by an asian author and let's see how many pages it has it has 313 no that's just over i'm getting this bonus did i did i find the translated book yet no i did not so i have to find that somewhere um okay back to square one let's try over here again mostly right cover i can do that that's easy what next number of pages good staple and moon on the cover i feel like moon would be oopsies i'm having trouble is choosing red bird mostly red that could be a little helpful 1997 that's within the realm uh mostly red is a bit of a stretch that one's probably not my best option okay listen there's gotta be like a cassandra claire one references i have to just play to my advantages at this point i don't know where to go from here folks signed by the author could be a decent one for me signed by the author and has glasses is simon from simon vs the homo sapiens agenda please tell me there's gotta be one more maybe maybe it's in the right number of pages yes i'm done the second i turned off this camera and stopped doing the challenge i found the freaking translated book alrighty so i finished the do i have that other book challenge in about 17 minutes and 45 seconds definitely longer than last time but that bonus was incredibly hard so i'm going to go through all of the prompts again and the books that i chose first was a book with a fox on the cover or part of the plot and i went with the last life of prince alistair by alexandra bracken this is a middle grade paranormal fantasy series it's a duology and i know actually that the first book does have a fox on the cover this one does have a fox on the spine and it's like a demon that like presents himself as a fox so i feel like it still counts next was a book published during your birth year or within a three year radius and i went with harry potter and the chamber of secrets which was published in 1999. next was a book with magic as a weapon or a type of magic and i went with passenger by alexandra bracken the lead character in this story is a violinist i believe and i distinctly remember like one of the first scenes of the book is her playing her violin and it like transports her to a different place or to a different time so i feel like it definitely works for this one next is a series with mismatched covers and i of course had to go with the diviners by libba bray i just want to know like who is in charge of all of these changes next up is a book with a shape shifter and i went with daughter of the burning city by amanda foody looking back i'm not sure if shapeshifter is necessarily the best descriptor but it follows these different entities called illusions that are created by the main character she's able to create these people with different personalities who can truly interact with the world but they are not real and i feel like that's kind of close enough to like the type of magic that would be also involved with shapeshifters next is a book signed by the author and i of course went with a classic city of bones by cassandra clare it is signed by cassie and thinking back i actually believe this might be like the second book i ever had signed next is a mostly red cover and i went with the vanishing stare by maureen johnson for a book between 287 and 306 pages i went with paperweight by meg haston 288 pages right on target next was a book that has the same number of letters as your first name contrary to what some believe my name is not actually spelled e-m-m-m-a it's just emma with two m's math makes up four letters so i went with four by veronica roth which also has four letters for a main character who wears glasses i went with adrian everhart from renegades by marissa meyer one of my absolute faves for a book with cyber crime or technology as a plot point i went with warcross by marie lu the entire world of this duology is really ruled by vr it is how everyone works functions interacts unfortunately i didn't love the sequel as much but the first book war cross is definitely a favorite of mine i like to pretend it's a standalone for a book written in another language i went with kitchen by banana yoshimoto this book was originally written in japanese and later translated to english i did realize this prompt didn't specifically refer to a translated book it could have also been a book just written in another the devouring gray by christine lynn herman now i feel like this same exact thing happened in the last do i have that book challenge where for one thing i was looking for something specifically on the
