I was so nervous when my brother found out he would be becoming a big brother again. I thought to myself, "How is this going to affect our dynamic?" He's always been the center of attention for three and a half years now, and I wasn't sure how he would handle sharing that spotlight with his new sibling. But as it turned out, he was very excited to meet her and wanted to give her lots of kisses and help take care of her.

As I watched my brother interact with our new baby girl, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and wonder at how good a big brother he would be. He's old enough now that he really understands the importance of being gentle and caring towards his little sister, which is exactly what we were hoping for. Breastfeeding has been going well, although it was definitely a challenge this time around. We had already gotten our son Carter's lip tie and tongue tie released, and I had seen multiple lactation specialists to help with any issues that might arise.

But one thing that did surprise me was how small our baby girl was. She was only six pounds at birth, which is actually not uncommon for premature babies. However, I couldn't shake the feeling of guilt and worry that came with it. Had we done something wrong? Was there a problem with the placenta or her growth during pregnancy that we didn't catch? These are all things that went through my mind as I held our baby girl in my arms and wondered what could have been.

It wasn't until later, when I started talking to other parents and healthcare professionals about our experience, that I realized how common it can be for premature babies to not gain weight at birth. It's also possible that the COVID-19 pandemic may have contributed to any delays or issues with prenatal care, which is why we didn't get as many check-ups in as we normally would.

Despite my initial worries, our baby girl seems to be doing just fine now. She's nursing well and gaining weight at a healthy rate, thanks to some good advice from lactation specialists. Her little routine right now involves feeding for about 30 minutes on each side, followed by a nap of around an hour or two, before repeating the cycle again throughout the day.

As I watch our baby girl sleep peacefully in her bassinet, I'm filled with gratitude and love for this tiny human who has already brought so much joy into my life. And as I look at my brother, who is now fully embracing his role as a big brother, I know that we're in good hands. Despite any initial doubts or worries, our little family is off to a great start, and we can't wait to see what the future holds.

I wanted to share some footage of our baby girl with you all because she's just so precious and tiny that none of her bows and hats fit yet. But even without them, she's still adorable in her own special way. little like me but i don't even think showing her on camera is gonna do justice how tiny she is nothing fits absolutely nothing i didn't buy preemie clothes but now i had to go on amazon and like rush deliver creamy clothes because she has nothing to wear newborn stuff she's swimming in it let's get to what you all want to know what is her name so this is capri rose i know i said her name it was a bit different i don't know if that is more shocking or less shocking than you expected but believe it or not there was only 81 babies in the entire us named capri in 2019 so it is a pretty unique uncommon name but again when you hear it i don't think it sounds crazy because it's a word that everyone's familiar with it's just not commonly used as a name so i got the idea for the name capri based on a song i heard by colby calais i don't know if you're familiar with her but she's an amazing singer i've always really liked her and she has a song called capri and it's this beautiful song about a little girl named capri made me cry it just connected with me and i'm like if i ever have a little girl i want to name her capri i will put the lyrics to the song on here i wish i could play it for you i know sometimes you just hear something and it speaks to you i think that it goes so well with carter carter and capri it is easy to say and pronounce but i think it's also a little bit unique and different and so pretty so i love it i know people are gonna have opinions and if you don't like it you know that's fine but maybe tell your friends tell other people but don't tell me there's nothing we could do now okay it's already done which said it's done i love it it totally fits her and her middle name which is rose is after my grandmother rose so capri rose oh the other thing i should mention is i've never been to capri so we had a baby moon plan in april to go ryan and i and i was so so excited about it but i think we all know what happened that had to get cancelled because of covid and it was particularly bad in italy of all places so obviously we were not able to do that but one day in the future we will get to go there i will say though that i'm 50 italian so there is that connection there so who does she look like so when she was first born and i saw her she really looked to me like carter and how he looked when he was first born but now that it's been a few days i think that she is a ryan clone like carter is like my little twin capri is a mini ryan so she has his eyes and i can already tell they look more hazel than blue and ryan has hazel eyes and she has his nose she has his lips she has his chin and she even has his hair but the reality is i'll just keep it real and most newborns look like little squished up old men until they grow and they fatten up a little bit and because she's even smaller than most newborns i mean you really cannot tell until she's a little bit bigger i just think she is perfect i think she's a doll i just love her so much and that was probably one of my biggest fears what if i don't connect with her and love her as much as i love carter because you guys probably know i'm like beyond obsessed with carter he is my entire world how could anyone compete with that and everyone kept saying oh don't worry your heart will grow but that is it's it's so true i mean i can't even explain it it's exactly the same i feel exactly the same and she is just the sweetest little soul and she's such a different baby from carter in a good way no offense carter but carter had colic pretty much from birth um starting from the day he was born pretty much all he ever did was cry and nurse cry and nurse he barely ever napped it was a lot if you've ever had a colic baby um in the first day or so she was kind of fussy and crying and i'm like oh my gosh i have another colic baby like how am i gonna do it um once my milk came in which was on day two she's been a little angel so far i mean knock on wood knock on all of probably too delicate carter say hi this is little capri that's a little caprice he has been amazing so far he's getting so much attention from his grandparents from ryan as much as he can for me too so he's great like he's very interested in her he wants to give her kisses he wants to help just melting my heart with how good of a brother he is already and that was a huge huge fear of mine i thought he might not be because he's kind of used to having all the attention for three and a half years you know he's three and a half now but i ended up being a great age gap because i think he's was born on her due date exactly 40 weeks which reminds me i need to find the winner because in the video i posted about baby is coming i asked you guys to predict when she was gonna be born at day and time so i'm gonna find whoever was closest but anyway she ended up being born on her due date that i calculated which was august 26 um because i had been tracking ovulation and temperature tracking i knew exactly when she was conceived that was always the one that i had used it was on a wednesday every wednesday is when i turned a new week and she came on wednesday august 26 at 1 24 pm she's a full term baby and was only six pounds and you know you can have a 34 week 36 week baby that's born at six pounds so i'm like what was happening in that whole last month or more why wasn't she growing why wasn't she getting bigger you know carter was 7 pounds 12 ounces and so i started having a lot of guilt and fear like what if something was wrong what if i had a placenta issue there's a condition called intrauterine growth restriction that may not have been diagnosed because of covid i hadn't been going in for doctor's appointments i only went in for like maybe three or four appointments my entire pregnancy so they could have just missed it um now after freaking out and you really doubted myself about it because i felt like it was my fault like maybe i wasn't eating enough or i wasn't eating healthy enough or i did something wrong but i just i have to say like i did my best i tried my best i i was eating a lot i gained the appropriate amount of weight and she's here and she's healthy and we just have to go from here no one else is concerned i keep asking everyone i ask her pediatrician i'm asking in the hospital and everyone's like no she's just small so maybe she's just small that's what i hope so basically like her little routine right now is that she will nurse for about 30 minutes like 15 minutes on each side and then sometimes she's awake for like maybe 15 20 minutes sometimes she immediately falls asleep for about one and a half to two hours wakes up repeat the cycle again all day and all night okay i showed some clips of her i'm sure as i'm talking but let me go grab her now so you guys can see her live okay here she is it's probably hard to see her little face because first of all she's really really tiny um she's also in a deep deep sleep right now she's so little that none of her bows and hats really fit or close but let's see can you see her little sweet squishy face okay i'm gonna go put her down so i can keep talking
