**Amazon Echo Spot Review**

I recently had the opportunity to test and review the Amazon Echo Spot, a smart display device that combines the functionality of an Echo with a touchscreen display. The device is designed to serve as a home clock, calendar, and messaging center, while also providing access to various skills and features.

When I first started using the Echo Spot, I noticed that it didn't immediately show up in my app. However, when I navigated to the "Device Options" section, I could see that it was there and was trying to retrieve its location by itself. This was a great feature that allowed me to set up my home location, which can be useful for various purposes.

In addition to the location setting, I also found the device's ability to change other settings such as date and time, temperature units, and even the voice assistant to be very useful. For example, I was able to switch from Alexa to Echo to computer or Amazon, depending on my needs. The device also allowed me to enable web videos, camera use, and take pictures of myself.

Unfortunately, the camera quality was not great, and it would have been recommended disabling it if you're not going to be using it. However, the device did come with a touchscreen display that allowed me to play videos from YouTube. The video playback experience was not ideal, as it displayed a black box around the video, making it difficult to watch in full screen.

The Echo Spot also came with a variety of skills that I could access through the Alexa app. One of these skills was a smart home control feature that allowed me to control devices such as Philips Hue lights. This was a great convenience that made it easy to manage my lighting system.

Another useful feature of the Echo Spot was its ability to connect my smartphone via Bluetooth, allowing me to play music and control it directly from the touchscreen. This was a great addition to the device's features.

**Comparison with Other Devices**

While the Echo Spot has many useful features, it is not comparable to larger devices such as Google Home, which has more advanced features despite its lack of display. The Echo Spot's design and display are unique and make it a stylish addition to any home. However, its speaker quality is not ideal, and it may not be able to replace your desktop speaker.

In terms of price, the Echo Spot is currently available for ₹10,449, which is significantly cheaper than the standard Echo Dot. speakers in the last month or so so we've checked out the Apple home part we've also checked out of the Google home of the Google home Mini and the Google home which was recently launched in India and we've also checked out the echo dot the echo and then the echo spot which we have over here so let's quickly unbox it and see what it looks like this is the first echo with a clean inbuilt as you guys can see on the box and hopefully the company will also launch the echo show which is that large screen one which I really like and it has amazing speakers but let's quickly unbox this and see what all this can do this one also has a camera in the front so if you guys are one of those privacy nerds this may not be for you but let's quickly unbox it but let's quickly unbox it so the price of the EcoSport is 12 triple nine but for now they're selling it at a discounted price of ten thousand four hundred and ninety nine and you have one of these pull-tab things over here so you can quickly unravel the packaging so I'm going to do that right now and that's it so like I said for a limited period of time it's for ten four nine nine so if you do like this device you should definitely go pick it up so really nice and simple packaging we've got a blue hue inside but I got it in the black color because I think it looks nicer and then you also have a standard wall charger now this is a 15 watt wall charger and you do have a proprietary DC Jack but I'm pretty sure you can find a replacement adapter in case you lose this for some weird reason if you decide to travel with your echo so you've got some documentation so getting started booklet it teaches you how to sort of set up your echo spot then some product information warranty certificates etc so you do have lots of things to try it says you can ask you like to play your favorite music you can make calls and do messaging you also have alarms reminders news and information and then you also have Alexa skills some smart phone features which is like controlling your lights etc you also have voice shopping so you can ask Alexa to search for things on Amazon and apparently you can play games and have some fun by asking it fun questions so we're gonna try all of that out we're gonna get rid of all of this and let's plug it in and see what it looks like so you do have a 3.5 mm headphone jack as an audio out on the back of the EcoSport so you can take an external speaker output as well in case you want to do that you can see you have the air vents at the bottom you do have this rubberized base which would prevent echo spot from sort of sliding on your table which is great three buttons on the top and four far-field noise cancelling and far-field high recognition microphones so you could be anywhere in the room and you could be speaking to the EcoSport and it will basically understand you so while it turns on I'm gonna open the Alexa app on my phone because I'm guessing I'll need that to set this up hello ready for set up I'm gonna see if I can set this up using the app instead of manually setting it up so interestingly in the Alexa app I don't even see the echo spot so right now I guess the app needs to be updated so I'm going to try and set it up from here itself so it does give me a keyboard that means that I can type on the echo spot as well and I'm going to attempt to do that right now that was actually surprisingly easier to do than I expected it to so it's it's quite easy to type on it it does have a multi-touch screen and it's quite responsive capacitive and then now you get the option to sign in to your Amazon account so you need to enter your email and password I'm going to do that as well so now it shows me the first screen which is basically when I log into my Amazon account so I say yes that's me it asks me the timezone etc so I accept that as well so now it does play a quick video to introduce the EcoSport introducing Amazon echo spa a stylish compact echo with a screen is designed to fit anywhere like on your office desk so you can pause the video you can scrub through it I'm assuming you can also get out of its own hostel you can also turn on subtitles for videos which is created I'm gonna skip through this enjoy your new echo spot it looks like a desktop clock it also gives you your weather information you can swap around the displays you can also mute the microphone once you do that you do get this red ring over here and you do have a convenient button on the top to mute or unmute the microphone you can also scrub through using your fingers because it's a multi-touch screen I can leave it on the clock mode and that's how it'll look you can also change the theme of the clock so right now it's on modern but you can also swap around from an Onix tangerine a woodgrain an iris or a bold teal so if I just select a simple one then you also can go into playful and then swap around from these so you have lots of clock options which is great so depending on where you're keeping this whether it's in your house or in your bedroom in your living room depending on where you're keeping it what the theme of that room is what your color combinations are you can according to that set up the clock which is great and then you can also pull out some personal photos and set it according to that right now I do not have any personal photos so let's go back let's say I choose a modern theme I'm in fact going to go with the classic theme over here you can see that it looks like a desktop clock right now then when you swap to the right you get your weather information as well you can set up your location again you can pull down from the settings and you can set up your location so you can set up your home cards you can also set them to rotate continuously so it'll automatically keep jumping through the clock the weather etc and you can also go set up your weather you can turn it on or off I am presuming you can set it up from someplace I am unable to find it right now let's see if it shows up in my app now now that I'm connected ok still does not show up in my app but if I go into device options is where I can set the location it tries to retrieve the location by itself which you can obviously change that around by entering your country and then maybe a city so now I've set up my home location so you can see that it's still not updated for some reason also in the device settings you can change other things like the date and time you can also change the temperature units from degree Celsius to Fahrenheit if I go in to date and time it gives me the right region and the time zone etc and if I go into some other options you can also set up the VAE qward so it can be anything from Alexa to echo to computer or Amazon which is great you can customize it you can also enable web videos so if you want to watch web videos etc you can also enable the camera you know also turn it off if you want to disable the camera you can disable that as well now so if I wanted to take a picture of myself I could just simply go into in fact I don't even need to go anywhere I just have to say Alexa take a picture okay get ready saving to prime photos so it not only clicks a picture it also saves it to prime photos as from what I can tell off the camera quality it's quite bad the camera itself but it's good you do have a camera there I would recommend disabling it if you're not going to be using it now you can also play some videos off of youtube so you can say Alexa play videos of YouTube playing Club results so as you can see once it plays videos off of YouTube it'll get this black box around it so you can't really enjoy the video in full screen but you can tap on this for it to sort of play it in a wide format I wish you could zoom in further and make it fill up the screen which you can't since it's a round display or a circular display but it does play videos if that's what you want and then you can also play music off of that if that's what you like so you can play music directly off the echo spot but you can also add some skills into the echo spot so you can go into your Alexa app I can finally see the echo spot over here and you can go into skills and you have a whole load of skills that you can add some new skills you can also jump from categories you can also get things like Youtube subscriber counts etc so we could just have it simply there and you can ask it what your youtube subscriber count' is we also have smart home controls so depending on what devices you have in your house you can control them so for example if you have philips hue devices you can simply type and enable the philips hue into the skills so you can connect your smartphone via bluetooth as well play music off of that control the music directly from the touchscreen as well so you do have a lot more options than a standard echo but then it's not comparable to a larger device say a Google home which doesn't have a display but has so many more functions even though Alexa is quite capable of doing a lot of things including the skills that you can add on to it Google home is still trying to play catch-up in terms of the assistant value of it but you do have basic things like google searches that Alexa can do and the Google assistant can so if you have a Google home you can do those kind of things with that with itself the kind of design and display and the kind of look that it has as a home clock it's quite a unique device if you want to have around your house so it looks quite fancy with that it has a pretty decent speaker I won't say that you can replace your desktop speaker because it does lack things like a good amount of bass or even a good amount of volume so it's definitely not there with the sound and it seems to be more of a novelty you can get the same features functionality in the echo dot which is much more compact and costs half as much of course you don't get the touchscreen and the good looking clock display but nothing special going on over here if you guys would like to check it out I leave willing to buy it like I said it's twelve triple nine usually but
