Audi RS7 2020 review – tested 0-60mph and on the Autobahn!

**The Audi RS7: A Quick and Practical Sports Car**

I've recently had the opportunity to spend some time with the new Audi RS7, and I have to say that it's a truly impressive car. Its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine is capable of producing 591 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, making it one of the fastest production cars on the market. But what really sets the RS7 apart is its ability to deliver this level of performance without sacrificing practicality.

So, I'm cruising along on the Autobahn at 120 kilometers per hour (about 70 miles per hour), and my trip computer tells me that I'm averaging 9.3 liters per 100 kilometers of fuel consumption. Not bad, considering that it's a car with this much performance. But what really gets my attention is when I reset the trip computer and accelerate up to higher speeds - at 160 kilometers per hour (about 100 miles per hour), I'm doing just 15.3 liters per 100 kilometers of fuel consumption. And if I push on to even faster speeds, such as 230 kilometers per hour (about 140 miles per hour) at a fuel consumption rate of 20 liters per 100 kilometers.

Of course, one of the main reasons that the RS7 is so impressive is its ability to haul ass without being overly aggressive. The car's manual transmission gearbox is strong and accurate, but it also feels a bit lifeless at times - especially when compared to other manual transmissions I've had the chance to drive recently. However, overall, I'm thoroughly impressed with the RS7's performance capabilities.

But what really sets the RS7 apart from some of its competitors in this class is its ability to deliver a balance between speed and practicality. As I mentioned earlier, one of the key features that makes the RS7 so practical is its air suspension system - it provides a remarkably smooth ride, even on rough roads like the ones I encountered while driving through the countryside.

And then there's the rear-wheel steering system, which is a feature that I've only seen in a handful of cars before. When you're cruising along at low speeds and want to make a sharp turn, the back wheels will subtly turn in the opposite direction to the front wheels - it makes turning much easier, especially in tight spaces like roundabouts or U-turns. And as an added bonus, the rear-wheel steering system also helps to improve stability at high speeds.

Overall, I think the Audi RS7 is a truly impressive car that delivers on both performance and practicality. Of course, some might argue that it's not quite as in-your-face sporty as some of its competitors - like the AMG GT four-door, for example - but I think that's actually one of its strengths.

**The Verdict**

In my opinion, the RS7 is a great choice for anyone who wants a car that can deliver impressive performance without sacrificing practicality. And while it may not be the most thrilling drive on twisty roads like some of its competitors - as I found out when I put the RS7 through its paces on a winding mountain road - it's still a blast to drive, especially at higher speeds.

One thing that might give some potential buyers pause is the fact that the A6 is actually more practical than the RS7 in terms of both space and fuel efficiency. But for me, that's one of the main reasons why I'd choose an A6 over an RS7 - I love the look of the A6, and I think it's just a bit more civilized than some of its competitors.

**The Bottom Line**

If you're looking for a car that can deliver impressive performance without sacrificing practicality, I highly recommend taking the Audi RS7 out for a spin. It's a truly impressive car that should appeal to anyone who loves cars - and with its rear-wheel steering system, it's even more convenient to drive than some of its competitors.

And as an added bonus, there are plenty of other ways to enjoy the RS7 - just ask my colleague Matt, who has the RS6 and is always looking for ways to make their car even more special.
