Note 8 vs S8+ _ Note 8 NOT Just A Premium S8+

The LGV 30 is rumored to have some impressive features, but one that stands out is its professional-grade camera capabilities. The camera on this device feels more like a high-end DSLR, with both lenses stabilized for reliable use of the telephoto lens. This means that users won't have to deal with shaky results or frustration when using the telephoto lens, as it's often the case with other smartphones.

In contrast, the Galaxy S8 Plus has some camera features that may not be quite as refined, particularly when it comes to video recording. The results can sometimes be shaky, especially during video recording, which can be frustrating for users. However, the LGV 30 seems to address this issue more effectively.

Another notable feature of the LGV 30 is its S Pen stylus. While some people may not use the pen at all, it's certainly become a valuable tool for taking notes and editing documents. The screen-off memo feature allows users to write and pin notes to the screen without having to turn on and unlock the device. This feature has been invaluable to some users, who can quickly access their notes and begin working with them.

The S Pen also offers long-time favorites like precision editing in photos and drawing on documents. While these features may not be used as frequently, they can become lifesavers when needed. For example, signing PDF documents becomes much easier with the ability to draw directly on the screen.

However, one area where the LGV 30 differs from its predecessor is in battery life. The Galaxy S8 Plus has a larger battery capacity of 3500mAh, but the LGV 30's battery is slightly smaller at 3300mAh. This means that users can expect around five to six hours of on-screen time with the LGV 30, which may be less than what they're used to with the S8 Plus.

The decision to reduce battery life was reportedly made due to design constraints, and it's clear that Samsung has taken a more conservative approach this time around. The price point is also an interesting aspect of the LGV 30. At launch, the device will cost over $930, which is ambitious for Samsung. However, prices tend to drop significantly after a few months, so users may be able to wait and see if the price comes down.

Overall, the LGV 30 feels like a different device from the S8 Plus, despite being similar in many ways. While it's not clear how much innovation Samsung has managed to squeeze into this year's model, the reception is likely to be very positive. With features like improved camera capabilities and a more refined S Pen experience, users can expect a device that feels more premium than its predecessor.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey everybody this is Erica the technology nerd likes to film stuff and I attended the Samsung event for the release of the Galaxy Note 8 the Galaxy Note 7 of last year was a great device that was played with battery issues and since the battery was locked into the device the entire product line had to be recalled twice no one knew of Samsung would recover the note line so now it's a year later and during this year Samsung has released a fantastic update to the Galaxy S line the Galaxy s8 and the Galaxy S II Plus these are some of the best devices on the planet but still many people told me that they were holding out for the Galaxy Note 8 expecting more differentiating innovative features now the no date has been announced in many viewers seem disappointed largely the reception seems overall positive but there are many that feel the Note 8 just did not meet their expectations it's just a more premium s8 plus they say so I'm curious to compare the s8 plus and the note 8 to discover if that is really true so let's get into it from the get-go what I understand Samsung is doing with their s and Note products is creating a line of continuity between them so in that way yes the Galaxy S H and s 8 plus and Note 8 this year seem quite similar so what's the same then between these devices so we've got the same processor the same fingerprint sensor placement the same main camera same iris scanner feature Samsung health sensor Samsung pay water resistance wireless charging etc the same main set of features we've got the same Samsung experience so same settings and interface we have a similar sized display to the Galaxy S 8 plus so it's six point three inches versus six point two and that's a difference that's really not going to catch attention and the displays are the same resolution so there are a lot of core similarities there but what's different and do these differences make me want the note 8 instead when I look at differences I don't just look at specs but also at experience and feel of a device so I had a bit longer to play with the Galaxy Note 8 and it really doesn't feel like the galaxy s 8 plus to me it really is something more first and most importantly we've gotten more RAM we've got six gigabytes versus four gigabytes a potential I'm excited for is better overall performance as Samsung services are quite resource hungry I'm hoping more RAM will provide more working memory for the user but that's really going to depend on Samsung with how they utilize that extra RAM I hope to at least have better multitasking number two we've also got a bit bigger display but what catches my attention is that it has more flat surface area than the s8 plus so this will help with having plenty of level space to write on the curve is a bit steeper than on the s8 plus I feel this looks much better and cause a slightly less glare for those of you viewing media three different look and feel I prefer the square look of the note eight over the more curved design of the s8 plus it feels very professional and very much reminds me of the magic of holding the Galaxy Note 7 when it first came out so it is indeed a bigger device than the Galaxy s8 plus and certainly looks like it but after holding it and using it the increase in size is not that bad and really doesn't seem all that huge what you are really dealing with here is a taller device because the width is nearly exactly the same for as far as cameras instead of a single 12 megapixel F 1.7 camera we have a dual 12 megapixel camera setup with both lenses being optically image stabilized the camera setup may only matter to those who care about mobile photography where most are just going to want to point and shoot and take a picture but after playing with a camera quite a bit it became clear that Samsung designed the interface to make you want to use it or at least make it so you can't avoid seeing what this camera can do they've labeled things properly and it really helps it is very simple and fun to use the live focus feature you just need to stay on three to five feet from your subject and shoot you can also decide while doing this to have the dual capture feature on so that you can capture images from both the wide camera and the telephoto camera at the same time and I personally love this because it's really convenient afterwards you can adjust the background blur as you see fit and this works surprisingly well even against some complicated backgrounds the blur looks natural I also had a chance to try out this feature inside of Best Buy and I was impressed it really intelligently is able to differentiate the background from the foreground not too often blurring what it should not so hopefully retail units will work just as good now on the rebuttal I realize that some are quite upset that the note uses a telephoto lens instead of an extra wide-angle lens it feels that Samsung is very much wanting you to use their phone for portrait photography for capturing special moments or for artsy shots those who wanted a wider second camera may be happier with what the LGV 30 is rumored to have but over the essay this is definitely a feature that I prefer to have it's feeling more like a professional camera the coolest point for me probably though is that both lenses are stabilized so this means we'll actually be able to reliably use the telephoto lens it's not just an added gimmick over the s8 plus it often got frustrating with my iPhone 7 plus any time I use the telephoto lens because the results could be quite shaky especially during video number five then of course we have the S Pen and all the features that it brings the s8 has none of these features obviously having the pen around kind of reminds me of caring about my surface pro 2017 and the surface pen except it can fit in my pocket well sorta can fit in guys pockets and with the screen being as large or tall as it is this time around if it is potentially more useful to have a pen than ever before so the pen really is just a tool that lets you use the display more precisely still many who have used notes in the past don't use the pen at all so let's look at some pen features they actually enrich the note aid experience over the Galaxy S 8 plus so we've got the screen off memo feature where you can write and pin a note to the screen all without having to turn on and unlock the device and this year you can write much longer notes and edit them with a double tap and this is a feature that became invaluable to me on the note 7 the note is always there and in view even when my screen is off coloring part of carrying around a smartphone is to have a constant companion with you so you can really easily take out the pen and access the coloring app where you can chill out to filling in patterns or you can just draw in general I actually have coloring books we're going to get really stressed out I'd like to fill in these nifty looking patterns then quick access to note-taking this is an obvious one and I admittedly use this more when I could still convert handwriting to text then we have long time no offerings like precision editing in photos or drawing on documents which may not happen too often but becomes a real lifesaver when you need to sign that PDF document right away so the note 8 has become more of a phone about expression and sharing in ways other smartphones can't including the galaxy s 8 plus number 6 a smaller battery now this for me is where things get a bit dicey the Galaxy S 8 plus is a 3500 million power battery with about the same screen size and the same resolution as the note 8 and the note 8 has a 3300 milliamp hour battery so I was getting about five to six hours of on-screen time on the s8 plus so we can probably expect numbers a little less than this it's not horrible but I think this is the one feature that is turning people off the most why did they do this I asked actually and from what I could gather it seems to be a restriction due to the design so it's a take-it-or-leave-it deal lastly price now price is an interesting thing for Android devices because if you wait a few months the price will really come down the note 8 will cost upwards of nine hundred and thirty dollars at launch that's ambitious even for Samsung so the s8 plus cost as much as the note 7 did at launch and now you can find deals on it like on Amazon for under $700 for the unlocked model so either finance the note 8 or wait a few months for the price to drop at least $100 so there you have once you play with the Galaxy Note 8 it really feels like a different device to the s 8 plus yes they are similar and that is obviously on purpose so to me it seems Samsung played it a bit safe but also there's only so much innovation that can be done in a year hopefully the fingerprint reader inside the screen will be ready next year maybe then we will see the 4k display we want for VR or maybe even the stereo front firing speakers that people keep asking for but for now when the dust settles and the reviews start to pour out I think reception will be very positive it just better not blow up I won't have it taken from me again or even I won't be as forgiving next time so let me know what you think about all of my main points and if you would like to get the know date over the s8 plus so thank you guys so much for watching this has been erica the technology nerd likes to film stuff please rate comment and subscribe and make sure to hit the notification bell inside
