The Galaxy Tab S 10.5: A First Look by Todd Hazelton with Techno Buffalo
As I'm here with a lot of people, you might notice that I'm a little quiet today, but I wanted to show you first look at Samsung's latest addition to their Galaxy Tab lineup - the Galaxy Tab S this and the 8.4 in model, but we're focusing on the 10.5 in version. This device is still super thin, and you can see it's got that amazing 2560 x600 pixel Super AM OLED display with incredible viewing angles. It's also super light, making it easy to hold and use with one hand.
As I'm holding it up front, you can see the 2.1 megapixel camera up top, along with power buttons and volume control keys on the sides, as well as an IR blaster on the right. You've got speakers on either side of this device, including a Micro SD card slot that's going to ship with 16 gigs of storage, which can be upgraded up to 128 GB using that slot there. There's also a micro USB and SIM card slot, potentially for carrier partners - although we haven't been told about any regular buttons up top.
Looking around the device, you'll see a really nice metallic finish that gives it a premium look and feel. This is not just a plastic shell, but rather a metal body that's been carefully crafted to give this device its unique design elements. On the left side of this device, you've got another speaker and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. And when you look at the back of this device, you'll see an 8 megapixel camera with flash, along with the same kind of finish that we saw on the Galaxy S5.
Moving on to the software, I wanted to give you a quick rundown of what you can expect from the Galaxy Tab S this. It's basically the same experience that we saw on the Galaxy S5, but optimized for the tablet. You've got Paper Garden focusing on magazines and news, Samsung Watch, and a lot more - as well as Sid Sync, which is really cool software that'll allow you to place calls or receive them through your Galaxy S5 that's using Wi-Fi Direct connectivity, so no circuit switch network required.
One of the unique features of this device is its pre-installed software, including Galaxy Essentials and Galaxy Gifts. You'll get special offers depending on where you buy this device, as well as optimized Samsung's free music service for use on the tablet. Under the hood, you've got 3 gigs of RAM and an Exynos 5 processor, which means everything is moving along really quickly.
Since this is one of the highlights of the Galaxy Tab S 10.5, let me just show you how the screen looks. The viewing angles are pretty impressive - it's like looking at a window into another world. It's not hard to see why Samsung has been focusing on this device, as it truly delivers in terms of performance and design.
As I conclude my first look at the Galaxy Tab S 10.5, I want to thank you guys for watching - please subscribe right here, as we'll be bringing you a ton of content related to consumer electronics that's plugged in or used as batteries.
