MacBook Pro 16' Part 2 Good & Bad _ Who is this for - RAW Thoughts

**The MacBook Pro 16 M1 Pro: A Premium Laptop with Significant Upgrades**

The base variant of the MacBook Pro Series is a significant upgrade from its predecessors, and with 16GB of RAM being sufficient for most users, it's an attractive option. However, when it comes to upgrading to 32GB, the cost is substantial - just 16GB of RAM costs ₹40,000 in India. This premium pricing makes the MacBook Pro Series a costly upgrade, particularly in India.

**Value and Target Audience**

In terms of value and chart, I would still say that this laptop is not for 95% of the users. Regular users who don't engage in heavy tasks can benefit from other options like the original MacBook Air or Windows Ultra Portables, which offer better value for money. The MacBook Air, in particular, provides excellent performance without breaking the bank.

However, there are specific scenarios where the MacBook Pro Series is ideal - for professionals who use their laptop as a tool to generate income. For instance, if you're using software like Final Cut Pro or DCI Resolve that are optimized for the M1 silicon, you'll find that this laptop provides exceptional performance. These apps are specifically designed to take advantage of Apple's silicon technology, making it an excellent choice for creative professionals.

**Price and Performance Ratio**

When evaluating the price-performance ratio, I must consider whether the cost is justified by the level of performance. In my previous review of the original MacBook Air M1, I was willing to pay a premium due to its exceptional performance. However, with the new MacBook Pro 16 M1 Pro, Apple has raised the bar - and the price to match.

If you're not using native Apple software or are relying on Windows-based applications, you might find that the performance gap between this laptop and others is not as significant. The fans on these laptops can get quite loud, especially when running resource-intensive tasks, which may be a consideration for some users.

**Conclusion**

Ultimately, the MacBook Pro 16 M1 Pro is a premium laptop designed with professionals in mind. If you're someone who uses native Apple software like Final Cut Pro or other creative apps that take advantage of the M1 silicon, this laptop will provide exceptional performance and value. However, for most users, there are more affordable options available that offer similar performance without breaking the bank.

**The Cost Consideration**

I must address the elephant in the room - price. The original MacBook Air M1 was priced at ₹92,000, but Apple has increased this to ₹99,900 for the new MacBook Pro 16 M1 Pro. This is still a significant premium, and I must consider whether it's justified by the level of performance.

If you're able to get the original MacBook Air M1 at an older price point or purchase the newer model (M2) when it becomes available, it would still offer incredible value for money. However, if you're in the market for a new laptop and are willing to pay top dollar for premium performance, then this is definitely worth considering.

**The Verdict**

The MacBook Pro 16 M1 Pro is a powerful laptop that's designed with professionals in mind. While it may be out of reach for most users due to its high price point, there are specific scenarios where the level of performance and value make it an excellent choice. If you're using native Apple software or require exceptional performance, this laptop will not disappoint.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi guys this is ranit and this is the second part of the video on my new Macbook Pro 16 in in the first part I covered the overview what are the Macs that I currently have and I also compared it that in the first video VI Benchmark synthetic Benchmark real world performance Etc in this video I'll talk about what I liked about these laptops uh what did uh are the things that stood out actually exceptionally well on this MacBook Pro 16 in and one of the things that I did not like the cons and stuff and who is this laptop for because I feel for most of the users 95% the regular MacBook Air M1 or the new M2 is better so let's continue with this video now moving to the next section is what are the things that I've liked on this MacBook Pro 16 in after using it for the last two days and the first thing that I really liked on this one and I did not expect that one is actually the screen quality on this one yes I'm not talking about the screen size it's a 16.2 in screen but the quality of the screen what Apple has put is brilliant one of the best I've seen on a laptop and have used very very expensive laptops uh Windows laptops on the top end uh this one is actually having the mini LED uh back lighting not the regular one it has 10,000 what do you say mini LEDs dividing to 2,500 local dimming zones that's why the picture quality is amazing on this one and apple calls this the xdr and in fact this is almost the same screen that you could say that is available on the $5,000 monitor that Apple has in India I don't know what is the cost must be about 5 half to 6 lakhs so that's the uh monitor that you're getting and it's actually having 120 HZ Pro refresh rate uh so in browsers and stuff like in iPhones and the modern smartphones when you scroll and stuff it's a lot more uh uh what do you say smooth on this one and it handles everything fine another thing that I like on this one is we have seen this on even earlier Max uh they have a true tone display but I think so it's done the best on this one because what happens is that uh whenever the lighting changes like so right now we are in tube lights or whatever the colors that you see shift based on the lighting so Apple always had a true tone kind of a thing but even on my iMac Pro we had it but I used to always disable it it was never that good but on this one it's so good that I'm keeping it on so screen is something that just blew me away on this one this has to be one of the best screens that I have seen so they have done an incredible job in terms of the screen quality that we have and it can get actually pretty decently bright in normal SDR content 500 Nets that's normal again with most of the laptop but in HDR it can go up to, 1600 Nets so excellent excellent quality screen that we are getting next thing I was I was blown away is the speakers on this one this one has crazy good speakers uh this is at half volume guys I'm going to increase the volume and these are so good I was worried that while doing video editing even my iMac Pro has beautiful speakers on this and I don't have to put external speaker and these speakers are so good that my worry of speakers or whatever while editing also I don't have in fact it has base it has actually two subwoofers here and I have to say uh I'll you might say I'm sounding cocky the these are the best damn speakers that I have seen on a laptop period that good it is it actually surprised me and it can get actually pretty loud so very very good speaker next thing that I liked on this one and I was not expecting this and guys if you are a video editor or something you know the importance of a microphone and I don't know how Apple did this the microphone on this one is just amazing it is as good as a external microphone that I actually have to mount while doing voiceovers and stuff like that it's that good quality in fact I was blown away with the uh microphone quality and in fact for small voiceovers that have to do or something now I think so I can get away without connecting a external microphone on this phone for small video recordings here is a quick sample of the what do you say microphone quality to get you an idea guys this new uh MacBook Pro 16 and 14 also has a new webcam it's supposed to be a 1080p webcam so this is the quality of the webcam also but I would like uh you guys to concentrate on the audio because I'm using the internal microphone to record uh this one do let me know what do you feel about the built-in microphones on this one I feel the microphones uh and the calibration what Apple has done is very very good uh you can get away uh even doing professional work without having an external mic on this one in a pinch if you don't have it and I feel cly uh the buil-in microphones on this laptop is actually pretty good but you guys let me know what do you feel about the same now contining to the next thing that I liked on this laptop is that even though I bought it for doing heavy tasks like video editing and stuff and even when you push it for video editing continuously rendering fil and stuff like that this laptop yes it has fans and all those things but the fans don't ramp up or it becomes loud like most Windows laptop in fact that is the biggest irritant that I had on the original uh what do you say MacBook Pro 2017 from enter uh the moment you start to doing anything heavy the F used to ramp up like a rocket on this one it is dead silent I would say the only time that I saw the fan ramping up and it was silent it's not allow was only when I was continuously running cine bench R23 Benchmark so in regular usage even when I was doing video renders for regular stuff and the fan does not come up so it's a very silent machine lastly I'm liking the ACT ual battery life that I'm getting in real world usage uh for regular use I would say you can easily get anywhere between 13 to 14 hours of actual usage guys and even while doing what do you say uh video ending that is heavy task on Final card without being plugged in you can get above slightly above 5 hours of actually using and that is very very good even and the performance does not degrade even when you are just working on the battery alone that's not the case with most of the Windows laptop now moving to some of the cons and the dislikes that I have with this one and specifically the first con is with the 16in variant this is having a 16.2 in screen and guys this is heavy uh on paper this is 2.1 kg but I don't know when you pick it up and use it it feels a little bit more heavier than what it is it feels like many of the gaming laptops that I have used feels like something like 2.3 kg or something so certainly vit it is a heavy laptop second thing I do not like and I'm pissed off with apple with this one typical Apple uh the chases is big guys this is a big laptop so you have a lot of space on this one it's not like the MacBook Air where they're cramping up every inch or something but still the ssds on this one is solder so unlike most of the Windows laptops you can just open the back and replace the SSD here you simply cannot do that so whatever SSD you buy 512 1 Tab 2 tab you got to be locked with it I can understand about the memory because it's a part of s so but s SD so this is Apple just artificially limiting the upgrade parts for you and uh this is a bad move now I would say and lastly is the upgrade costs in India the upgrade options on this one is insane as I've told you guys this is the base variant uh of the MacBook Pro 16 in uh with M1 Pro chip and this base variant is for 2 lakh 39,900 almost 240,000 yes you have some H shift card you can get some discount but still it's a very expensive laptop so I thought of upgrading from the 16 GB Ram that comes by default on this one in fact here are all the specs if you want to know what are the actual specs that came with this specific laptop this is the base variant and I know 16GB is good enough for me I know I won't need 32 but I thought but look at the upgrade cost from 16 GB to 32 GB it's just 16 GB of RAM upgrade that is 40,000 in India so the upgrade uh on the one the MacBook Pro Series is just insane and Bonkers I would say very very expensive upgrades specifically India so I just hate that and um now coming to uh who is this for and the in terms of value and chart I would still say that this laptop is not for 95% of the users if you are a regular user uh you don't do very heavy task or something I still feel the MacBook Air even the original one offers the best value best bank for buck I would say and far better than many of the windows Ultra Portables that you're getting I know a lot of Windows Ultra Portables uh that are costing over around a lakh or more simply can't touch this one in terms of performance so that way the MacBook Air is still much much better who is this uh really for I would say this is for professional uh people who make money with the uh laptop for example it's a tool for you and if you're buying this and if you're going to recover the cost in four five months then it makes sense and I would say specifically these new Macbook Pros or whatever Apple laptops if you are a highend user I would say you get the best out of this one if you're using some of the Native apps that are very well optimized for the uh M1 silicon for example Final Cut Pro if you're using you'll just love these laptop in fact also DCI resolve I've heard that has been optimized so well now on these laptops but again if you are sort of a Premier Adobe Premier user or even after effects and stuff like that then the performance Gap increase that you see from Intel laptop is not that much in fact you could get similar performance for a lot less price on the what Windows laptop yes those will not be as silent on this on those the fans will ramp up but I feel that is the distinction that you have to make uh and if you're going to make money from your laptop not everyone requires this laptop this is this sort of of that professional of people and apple knows that and that's why they're charging that premium for this one in fact if I talk about the price to Performance ratio in fact if you have seen my uh video review of the original MacBook Air M1 I said that this is the first time in history that I paid this much for a laptop and I got this sort of a performance and that was for the MacBook Air M1 but now with this MacBook Pro 16 M1 Pro apple is certainly charging a premium and they are charging this price and the performance that you're getting is also this one but for whom if you are a person who uses native Apple software like final cart Etc if you're not that kind if you're using Windows softwares or something like that like premium Pro Etc so still you're paying that kind of a price but the performance that you're getting is this one so again it's up to you to decide if this works out for you or not but for most of the majority of the users still I would say the MacBook Air M1 offers incredible value and uh you can even go for the MacBook Air M2 that's slightly faster now but again now Apple knows how good these laptops are the original MacBook Air M1 in India was for 92,000 but now they have bounded to 999,000 or 1 lakh and uh the new Macbook uh uh air M2 uh comes with the new chip that will be coming next month in India uh will be for 1 lakh 120,000 so still I would say uh if you're getting uh able to get this original one at a good deal right now at the older prices this still offers incredible value but again if you're sort of a professional and if you make money from the work you are doing you will certainly love and some of the apps that you're using are properly optimized for Apple silicon you'll just love this laptop anyways guys that's it for now for this video I've got a ton of questions also from you guys regarding this laptop I thought of including them in this video but this video will become very very long so what I'll uh try to do is I'll try to pick up some of the important questions from there also you can add some new questions in the comment section and I'll try to post a uh one more video with a proper FAQ kind of a video for this laptop answering your questions anyways guys that's it for now thanks for watching this is Ranjit and I hope to see you in my next video take care guyshi guys this is ranit and this is the second part of the video on my new Macbook Pro 16 in in the first part I covered the overview what are the Macs that I currently have and I also
