My Ultimate Christmas Day: A Relaxed Affair with Great Food
When it comes to Christmas Day, I like to think of it as a relaxed affair with great food, rather than a hectic and stressful day. With everything taken care of beforehand, there's no need to rush around trying to get everything done on time. In the Ramsey household, Christmas morning always starts with a late breakfast that sets the tone for a wonderful day ahead.
A Classic Breakfast Combination
This year, I decided to serve up a classic breakfast combination that never fails to impress: smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, and toasted croissants. This recipe is a family favorite, and it's incredibly easy to make. The secret to a really good breakfast, according to the chef, lies in the timing and attention to detail. First, you need to slice the croissants into rounds and season them lightly with salt. This may seem like a small step, but trust me, it makes all the difference.
The Power of Smoked Salmon
Now it's time to add the smoked salmon on top. The chef notes that the crystals on the croissant are key to achieving this perfect combination. By placing the salmon on top of the toasted croissant, you create a delicious and elegant start to your day. And let's not forget about the butter – yes, you read that right, butter! The quasars have a lot of butter in them, which makes it easy to toast them without needing any oil. This is a great way to breathe new life into day-old croissants.
Preparing the Croissants
To start, place the sliced croissants on a baking sheet and bake them until they're lightly toasted. As they cook, you'll notice that the butter inside starts to melt, giving off an amazing aroma that's almost like a camera lies waffle – yes, it sounds strange, but trust me, it smells incredible! Toast both sides of the croissant until they're golden brown and crispy.
Preparing the Smoked Salmon
Next, simply twist the smoked salmon into thin slices and place them on top of the toasted croissants. You can also let it sit naturally on top of the croissant or twist it over to create a beautiful presentation. The chef notes that the key is to handle the salmon gently so as not to break it up.
Preparing the Scrambled Eggs
Now, it's time to make the scrambled eggs. In this recipe, I like to keep things simple by using no seasoning at all – just eggs in a generous knob of butter. Start heating the pan over medium heat and add a small amount of butter. Once melted, pour in the eggs and start stirring gently.
Creating a Creamy Scrambled Egg
The key to creating a creamy scrambled egg is to stir it constantly while it cooks. This will help distribute the heat evenly and prevent the eggs from becoming too runny. As you stir, use a scraper to gently break up any large clumps of egg that may form. Once the eggs are almost cooked, take the pan off the heat and let them cool for about 30 seconds.
Finishing Touches
Once the scrambled eggs have cooled slightly, it's time to add some finishing touches. Sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper over the top, followed by a tablespoon of cream to prevent the eggs from becoming too runny. Finally, add a sprinkle of fresh chives for a pop of color and flavor.
The Final Result
And there you have it – a delicious and elegant breakfast combination that's sure to impress even the pickiest eaters. The combination of smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, and toasted croissants is absolutely divine, with each bite offering a perfect balance of flavors and textures. Whether you're looking for a special treat or just want to start your day off right, this recipe is sure to become a new favorite.
