How to See ETA for Installing Apps in iOS

Using Jailbroken iPhone to Install App ETA Tweak

To start this tutorial, you need to have your iPhone jailbroken. If you're not already jailbroken, please head to the link below for a video on how to jailbreak your iPhone and come back to this video to continue.

Once your iPhone is jailbroken, open Cydia and navigate to the search bar at the bottom right of the screen. If the search function doesn't appear, cancel it as you don't need to do that. Next, tap on the name "app EA" when it shows up. This app allows you to purchase tweaks and it costs $9.

To purchase the tweak, tap on the "Purchase" button at the top right of the screen. Follow the normal procedure for purchasing tweaks once you've purchased App ETA. After completing the purchase, tap on the "Close" button at the top right of the screen where the purchaser used to be. Next, tap on "Install" when it shows up and confirm on the top right again. Let the tweak download and install on your phone once completed. Finally, tap on "Restart Springboard" and wait for your phone to restart.

After restarting your phone, navigate to the settings menu by opening the Settings app. Swipe down until you find "App ETA" and enable it if it's not already enabled. Don't tap on "Respring" yet, as we haven't finished configuring the tweak just yet. Next, choose whether or not to keep the double tap gesture. You can also select your preferred alert style, which I've chosen as white due to my dark background.

If you like the classic progress bar from before iOS 7, go ahead and enable it. Select the color of the label that shows the remaining download percentage or estimated size. Go back and continue configuring the tweak by making any additional changes if needed. The label on the icon displays how much is left to download in terms of percentage or estimated size.

Choose whether you want to see the percentage or estimated size displayed on the label. You can also change the color of the label itself through this section. If you prefer to keep the old iOS 7 default mode of progress, turn it on but I'm choosing not to do so as it may conflict with other iOS 6 style progress icons.

The tweak comes with some extras that you can choose to enable, including an alarm ETA that shows how much longer you have until your alarm goes off. You can select whether you want a long-style or short-style display for the alarm ETA. Once you've completed all the necessary configurations, swipe back up and tap on "Respring" one last time, then tap "Yes" to complete the restart.

After restarting your phone, you're free to download any app you'd like from the App Store. For this tutorial, I'll be starting or choosing Real Racing 3 which is over a gigabyte long. Tap on the app and return to the home screen. You should see an icon with a label that shows you the percentage of the download and also displays the iOS 6-style progress bar at the bottom.

If you double tap the icon itself, you'll see the app ETA details, which includes the status, time remaining, size downloaded out of total, speed of download, and the completion percentage.
