The New Mercedes AMG 35 CLA Shooting Brake: Top 10 Things You Need to Know
This is the new Mercedes AMG 35 CLA Shooting Brake, and here are the top 10 things you need to know about it. Mercedes says that the AMG 35 Shooting Brake combines the powerful proportions of a sporty corporate with decisive extra functionality. Basically, what they mean is that it's a sporty estate car to the standard car swept roofline and frame stores.
The AMG 35 version adds a stealthy body kit, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a pair of large exhaust pipes that will welcome the car one stick of truth with open arms. But which a 35 model duty looks the best? Click on the pop-up on the top right-hand corner of the screen to vote for the CLA 35 Shooting Brake.
The normal CLA 35, the AMG 35 saloon, or the AMG 35 hatchback - it's all part of the same lineup. The AMG 35 is the quickest in its class, even by comparison to the full-fat AMG 45 model that will arrive in a year's time. Still, it's plenty quick enough to go from 0-60 in just 4.7 seconds, which is an exact match for a DSG-equipped VW Golf Estate automatic.
However, this impressive performance comes with a price tag - or rather, fuel economy. Mercedes says that the AMG 35 Shooting Brake is supposed to achieve around 38 miles per gallon, but in reality, you'll probably get about 30. The good news is that it's on sale in June, with a starting price of around £40,000, although desirable options like the upgraded infotainment system and autonomous driving aids will see the price soar to over £45,000.
But if you're interested in saving some money on your new car, click on the pop-out banner in the top right-hand corner of the screen to get a car where you can save an average of $3,000 without having to haggle. As with all other AMG 35 models, the Shooting Brake is powered by a 2-liter turbocharged petrol engine that produces 306 horsepower.
According to Mercedes, this car is aimed at younger buyers, but don't worry if you're old and wrinkly like the presenter - Mercedes will still sell you one. The AMG 35 Shooting Brake isn't just about style; it's also designed to provide superior practicality. The boot space is a massive 500 liters, which is nearly 50% larger than that of the hatchback.
This increased boot space is made possible by a bigger opening that makes loading and unloading easier than ever before. And with more headroom and legroom in the back seats, you'll be able to transport all your gear with ease. But what about underneath the bonnet? The chassis has been reinforced with more reinforcements than the Hindenburg Line, which is no mean feat.
Underneath the AMG 35 Shooting Brake's skin, you'll find upgraded brakes with four piston calipers that will bring it to a stop quickly and efficiently. And with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox as standard, there's no need for a manual option - although if you're after all-wheel drive, the Golf R has got you covered.
If you want to give your AMG 35 Shooting Brake a more aggressive look, you can choose from three different 19-inch alloy wheel designs. The AMG Knight package adds glossy back exterior touches, while the aerodynamic package of the ante comes with even more aggressive front and rear spoilers that supposedly help reduce lift - although it's worth noting that this is just marketing speak for negligible downforce.
Inside the car, you'll find leather and dynamic trim as standard, which will no doubt get scrunched up in time. But despite all these options, at least all the cool bits of the standard CLA are carried over, so you'll still get pretty turbine-style air vents and the option to specify cool mood lighting and gigantic infotainment screens if you want to give your AMG 35 a proper price tag.
So, what are the five things that can be added to an AMG 35 Shooting Brake? Well, there's the leather pack, which pads the interior in the real deal rather than the fake stuff fitted as standard. You can also choose from three different types of sport seats that clamp your body in increasingly tighter increments - perfect for squeezing into those tight parking spots.
The AMG 35 infotainment system is another option, and it comes with a number of functions that are unique to this model. For example, you can add a sporty g-meter and race timer, while also getting separate readouts for horsepower, torque, engine, and oil temperatures - although let's be honest, most people won't need to use these features unless they're racing enthusiasts.
And finally, there's the AMG 35 Barnstormer option, which adds even more aggressive styling elements to the car. So, if you want to give your AMG 35 Shooting Brake a proper AMG makeover, this is the way to do it.
