AUGUST TBR & BOOK OF THE MONTH UNBOXING!!

**Gossip Girl Meets One of Us: A Murder Mystery**

I've had a hit or miss relationship with mystery novels, but I've read a fair few this year that I've loved. So, I'm really hoping to love this one. There's this murder that happens at a boarding school, and all I need to know is that it's all I need to know. I've had a fascination with murder mysteries since this series started, and I think I'll be fully immersed in the story.

**A Romance to Cupcake Love**

Next up is "Kiss My Cupcake" by Helena Hunting. This is a romance book about a character who opens up a cupcake shop. I'm doing a whole theme of ice cream shops, cupcakes, not just needs a coffee shop and I'm set, but she opens up a cupcake shop and on the grand opening, she realizes that the place next door, the place across the street is like this really rowdy sports bar that's really deterring her customers. And there's an altercation between her and the owner, which leads to... well, you'll just have to read it for yourself. This sounds like a typical romance book that I eat up like candy and like cupcakes.

**A Game-Changing Discovery**

Another book on my list is "Loads at First Sight" by Suzanne Young. This is about a character who works in the tech industry, specifically with games. She makes this big discovery or codes this game, and she becomes really popular. That's all I know about it. I love reading books about the tech industry, even though I have no idea what I'm talking about, but they're always so interesting to me. This one sounds cool, and I think it's also another hate-to-love romance, which is my favorite trope.

**A Switch in Lives**

My next book is "The Switch" by Beth O'Leary, which finally comes out this month. It's been out in England for a while, but it won't be out here until August 18th. I'm so excited! This is about two characters who switch houses and lives. I loved "The Flat Share" by Beth O'Leary, so I am really excited to read this one, and I really hope I fall in love with it.

**Hard-Hitting Histories**

My next two books are both historical contemporaries. The first one is "The Black Kids" by Christina Hammonds Reed, which comes out on September 1st. This book takes place in 1992, following the beating of Rodney King, and Ashley gets known as one of the black kids. She's had a life of blending in, but since then, she's had to fight for herself and who she is. It's hard when you're surrounded by people who don't agree with you or care about what you believe in.

**Making a Difference**

My next book is "The Voting Booth" by Brandi Colbert. This one says success is for fans of sun-kissed stories, but it's actually about Maya and Duke going on a spree on voting day to try to get people to vote. It's proof that you can't sit around waiting for the world to change; some things are just meant to be.

**Romance and Steam**

Finally, I have "The Roommate" by Rosie Dana, which is another September book that comes out soon. This is a romance about a girl who roommates with a guy who's a male escort. That's all I know – I'm horrible with my not knowing what to expect from books before I read them, but I've heard really good things about it. It's supposed to be very steamy and romantic, so I'm excited to dive in.

**A Full Plate of Reading**

I actually have a lot of books on my list for this month, and I think I'll read all of them. I'm really excited about this month's TBR, the most I've been excited about in a while. I'll let you know how they all turn out for reading vlogs and reviews.

like this sounds really interesting i want to check this company out i have a coupon code for you you can use the code read on to get your very first book from book of the month for only 9.99 which is a steal because they're hardcover books and adult hardcover books are expensive so i highly recommend you check out book of the month they're a great company i really enjoy a lot of their selections and i have found a lot of my favorite books through them so i'm very excited to be working with them for this video so like i said before i get into my tbr i quickly want to share with you the august book of the month selections in case you want to pick up one of these for your very own or multiple ones for that matter first one is one i've actually already read and that is the night swim by megan golden this is a mystery thriller that i really enjoyed i could see this blowing up in august and i'm happy for it because it was really good this has a podcast element into it and whenever there's a podcast and a mystery book i'm sold and this book you follow character name rachel who has this podcast called guilty or not guilty and this season for her podcast she's actually following an ongoing trial she says she goes to the small town where the town's golden boy is accused of rape and she's gonna follow the um whole trial and do an episode on each you know court date also ongoing we have another story intermingling with this following a character named sarah whose sister died in this same town like 25 years ago the ruling of the death was drowning but she knows that her sister was murdered so she reaches out to rachel to try to help to solve this murder so it's all about rachel dealing with two different um pretty much crimes i guess you could say and i really enjoyed it if you're a fan of podcast elements and books look no further this is a great one the next one i am very excited to read and i might throw this on his tbr and that is the unraveling of cassidy homes by alyssa r sloane and this um i read were fans of like daisy jones and the six which i'm immediately drawn to so in this book we have a character named cassidy holmes and she's known as sassy gloss and she's the fourth member of this really popular pop group um and this is hotter than britney dancing with a snake hotter than christina getting dirty so we're talking like late 90s early 2000s my jam and so um gloss was the pop act that everyone idolized until their implosion in 2002 and the center of all was sassy cassie but now she's dead suicide and the world is really from the unexpected news but no one is more shocked than the three remaining glossies and then 15 years ago they have been the closest to cassidy since loss is hitting them hard so i'm guessing this might be told like when they're all adults and they're going to go back in time and this might be it i don't think it's an interview format but it just sounds so interesting this one sounds really good it's very big i'm very excited for it the next one is the death of vivek ojo hopefully i pronounced that right and i will probably not pronounce his name right awakie amisi hopefully i will do my research and figure out how to say that correctly for you guys this is it says what does it mean for a family to lose a child they never really knew it takes place in nigeria where a mother opens her door to find her son's body wrapped in colorful fabric and then what follows is the tumultuous heart-wrenching story of one family struggle to understand a child whose spirit's both gentle and mysterious compulsively readable teeming with unforgettable characters this is a novel a family friendship and and the self that challenge expectations a dramatic story of loss and transcendence that will move every reader so this sounds like a hard-hitting very very important read that i'm very excited to read we have a sci-fi fantasy book we have the space between worlds by micah johnson and this book is all about multiverse and i love things like that but i never quite understand them so we have a character named um cara who has like multiple like doppelgangers and multiple like different dimensions and versus multiverses i don't know but her doppelgangers keep dying and so she's found this one multiverse where she can actually stay alive um but then she figures out one of her eight remaining doppelganger dies under mysterious circumstances so she plunges into a new world with an old secret um so it's all about multiverse and space travel if you're into that you know reminds me of a lot of different movies that have multiverse and i love them but i always feel like i'm never quite smart enough for them and the last book i have is historical espionage book and that is atomic love by jenny field so this book takes place in the 50s and we follow rosalind porter who works as a physicist on the manhattan project and she has a passionate love affair with thomas and she after the end of um the guilt of her um of working on the bomb and then her heartbreak over thomas she decides to like go back or something like that and basically it's about a espionage with russia and things like that and it sounds really intriguing i've read a few historical books i'm not in love with them completely but i'm always willing to give them a try so i will leave the link down to book of the month below in case you want to check it out for your very own and remember to use the code read on so you can get your first month for only 9.99 and you can pick any one of these books as well as many of their backlist books you can pick anything that was on their catalog from years and years ago in case you want to do an add-on which i always recommend so yeah thank you so much to bookmark for sponsoring this video and here are their august selections now moving on to what i plan to read for august so august is going to be i want to read like 14 books in august it's the last monster typically summer even though where i live it doesn't start to get cool to like november so it feels like summer until like november but since it's technically the last month of summer i'm going to try to fit in all the summery books i still have on my tbr the first one being one to watch by kate stayman london i'm actually currently reading this now probably when you're seeing this video i have already finished reading it so this booklet followed character named b who is a plus size um fashion influencer instagram she's really famous and she watches the show aka the bachelor where it's called main squeeze and she really tweets and does a blog post one night about how there's not enough representation on this of the regular american woman like none of these women wear pants they're all really skinny and beautiful and the guys are just so beautiful and she's like this is ridiculous the new show so the show has a new producer and reaches out to me and says i want you to be the main squeeze on the main squeeze and so it's about her going on this bachelorette show and having 25 guys try to win her heart and there you go it's like a little dip in the reality pool a lot of people like this one i've heard amazing things about it um i think i'll love it but i am one of the rare few while reading this that doesn't watch the bachelor about red in fact i don't really watch any reality tv the only reality tv i watched was back in the day mtv like laguna beach the hills jersey shore that kind of trash so i don't watch any reality dating things for probably a multitude of reasons but this is really cute so far and i'm loving it and i wouldn't be surprised it's end up if it's already a five out of five next up i have midnight sun by stephanie meyer so this is the new twilight book where it's twilight but from edward's perspective i think a lot of guys i think a lot of us are excited about it even if there's a lot of not the best things associated with twilight with the representation of native americans and just indigenous people and i don't like that but i do plan to read midnight sun um and just see what it's about see the point of view from edward i don't know i was attempting to read reread the whole twilight series i was like uh probably shouldn't so i don't know but i do plan to read it i don't plan to fall in love with it i do think my feelings probably have changed because i fell in love with the series when i was like 16 and i'm 31 now so quite a while as way later we'll see how i feel about this book from edward's perspective but i'm not gonna lie to you i am excited about it next up is more than just a pretty face by syed by syed m massoud hopefully i pronounced that right this one should already be out too as well as when you're seeing this i am filming this a couple days before august this one is a new white contemporary fan that's about falling in love familiar expectations and being a renaissance man so we follow a character named danielle who has very he's very confident he knows he's good looking he wants to be a chef one day and his parents don't really approve of that but he's already like in a pre-arranged marriage like he's a teenager but his parents have kind of already set him up i've already set him up with cavall who they're her parents don't really like him and then basically this thing happens where it's a school-wide academic championship it's a perfect opportunity to show everyone that he's more than just a pretty face and he starts falling for cavell and things like that i've heard it's super cute and i love a good why contemporary where it's all about familiar relationships and also falling in love i'm there for that next up i have she's faking it by christina rockaway i'm reading this because the cover this is the last month to read a book like this with a cover like this this follows the character name brie who is a influencer then i think this one girl like really drives her to be a bigger influencer and she has to she's the rising world in the start of instagram and she is just kind of not really who she says she is she's not really into these things and things like that she's pretty much faking an online presence which is fun but yeah that one's i'm gonna read it because the cover is freaking summery and this 11 month summer speaking of summary cover i have a deadly inside scoop by abby colette this is a cozy mystery i've never read a cozy mystery i'm very excited for it and this is about a character named brawling who has taken over her family's ice cream shop and she loves doing it and then all of a sudden there's like this murder that happens she finds this dead man in the snow and now it's like a quirk with the help of her corki best friends and her tight-knit family she'll soon catch the ice cold killer before she has a meltdown so many ice cream puns i'm here for it i've heard cozy mysteries are exactly that cozy and it's like a one for the summer i'm ready to read it and hopefully i'll love it next up i have they wish they were us this is a why mystery thriller this says gossip girl meets one of us is lying and this is a murder mystery that will have you guessing to people that just don't care that are horrible so i'm very intrigued by this it says what does it mean to be one of the black kids this is going to really be a hard-hitting one for sure and one i could learn a lot from another white contemporary that i want to check out is the voting booth by brandi colbert never read a brandi colbert novel but this one says success is for fans the sun is also a star which is one of my favorite white cadavers of all time we follow maya and duke who basically i think they go on like this spree on voting day election day to like try to get people to vote and things like that and it says it's proof that you can't sit around waiting for the world to change but some things are just meant to be it sounds really cute the last book i want to read is another september book that comes out that i have an er gov and that is the roommate by rosie dana i don't know anything about this one it's a romance about a girl that is roommates with a guy that um he is a male escort i think and then something happens i don't know i'm horrible with my not knowing what my ears are about please forgive me but i've heard really good things about it very steamy very romantic so i'm excited for it and that's all the books i'm gonna plan to read so it's a lot of them and i think i will read all of them this month i'm actually really excited about this month's tbr
