How To Clean Your Bathroom! My Bathroom Cleaning Routine
**How to Clean Your Bathroom: A Step-by-Step Guide**
Hey guys and welcome back to my channel! I’m finally getting around to doing my highly-requested bathroom cleaning video. This has been on my list for over a year, but other videos kept taking priority. However, I recently realized how important it is to film this now—especially with my current situation.
### Introduction: Why Now?
I’m currently pregnant and, let’s be honest, getting bigger by the day. This has led to significant lower back issues, making tasks like bending down or standing for long periods increasingly challenging. Cleaning used to be something I could tackle without a second thought, but now it feels more difficult. That’s why I’ve decided to film this video—to share my bathroom cleaning routine while I still can. My goal is to create as many cleaning videos as possible before things get even more challenging.
### What I Use for Cleaning: DIY Bathroom Cleaning Solution
Before diving into the step-by-step guide, I want to quickly share what I use to clean my bathroom. It’s a simple and effective DIY solution that I’ve been using for years. Here’s how it works:
- **50% Distilled Water**: Using filtered or distilled water helps prevent streaking.
- **50% Distilled White Vinegar**: This is an incredibly versatile and inexpensive cleaning ingredient. It’s known to kill about 99% of bacteria, making it a fantastic choice for bathroom cleaning.
This solution is not only cost-effective but also eco-friendly, which makes it a great option for those looking to reduce their environmental impact.
### Step-by-Step Bathroom Cleaning Guide
Now that we’ve covered the basics of my cleaning routine and the products I use, let’s dive into the step-by-step process. I approach bathroom cleaning in sections, tackling one area at a time to ensure thoroughness.
#### 1. Removing Rugs and Preparing Surfaces
The first step is always removing the rugs. I toss the bathmat into the washing machine and shake out the larger rug outside. This helps prevent transferring dirt and bacteria from the rugs back onto the cleaned surfaces.
#### 2. Cleaning the Toilet
Next, we focus on the toilet:
- **Step A**: Sprinkle baking soda inside the toilet bowl for its abrasive properties.
- **Step B**: Pour in some vinegar to trigger a chemical reaction that loosens stains.
- **Step C**: Use a toilet brush to scrub the interior until it’s nice and clean. After brushing, place the toilet brush between the lid to allow it to drip dry.
Once the toilet is cleaned, I spray down all the surfaces in the area with my all-purpose cleaner to let it penetrate. We’ll return to this area later to finish the cleaning process.
#### 3. Countertops
Moving on to the countertops:
- **Step A**: Remove everything from the countertops first.
- **Step B**: Spray and wipe everything down using rags for surfaces and microfiber cloths for mirrors and glass.
- **Step C**: I switch out these cleaning tools frequently as I work.
I keep my countertops clutter-free, following the KonMari method. If you’re interested in learning more about how I organize my space, check out my dedicated video on this topic, linked below.
#### 4. Bathtub
Next up is the bathtub:
- **Step A**: Start by spraying and wiping down the perimeter of the tub.
- **Step B**: For grout cleaning, sprinkle baking soda and spray with vinegar solution to loosen dirt. Use a toothbrush to scrub it away.
- **Step C**: For the interior of the tub, sprinkle baking soda and use a wet scrub brush to remove any rings or stains. Rinse thoroughly with water.
While in this area, I also clean the window (if possible). If it still looks dirty, it’s likely because it’s on the outside and I’m unable to reach it at the moment.
#### 5. Shower
The shower is next:
- **Step A**: Begin by spraying and wiping down the exterior glass.
- **Step B**: Move inside and clean the interior glass, ensuring all tiles are wiped down.
- **Step C**: Clean the showerhead, soap shelf, and shampoo shelf during this process.
After tackling the interior, I move on to cleaning the glass door. Finally, I address the floor of the shower using the same baking soda method: sprinkle it, scrub with a wet brush, and rinse with water.
#### 6. Finishing Touches
Once all major areas are cleaned, I return to finish the toilet area:
- **Step A**: Replace the dried toilet brush in its holder.
- **Step B**: Wipe down the toilet seat, exterior of the toilet, base, and handle.
For floors:
- **Step A**: Start by vacuuming to remove hair or debris.
- **Step B**: Use a Swiffer with cleaning solution, working in sections to mop or clean effectively. This method is especially helpful for those with lower back issues like mine.
#### 7. Additional Tips
For finishing touches:
- **Optional Step**: Wrap a rag around the end of your mop to reach ceiling corners and remove cobwebs or dust.
- **Optional Step**: Use the same tool to dust off light fixtures and baseboards.
Finally, empty the trash and put the rugs back in their place. Don’t forget to clean door handles for a germ-free finish.
