The Debate Over CPU Upgrades and Motherboard Support

When it comes to upgrading your CPU, one thing that often gets overlooked is the importance of motherboard support. Some argue that not all CPUs can be overclocked, which may seem like a big deal since most high-end CPUs are designed for overclocking. However, the truth is that most CPUs under a certain threshold do not allow for overclocking and therefore are limited in their performance capabilities.

On top of this, motherboards with limited support can also hold you back. The H370 and B360 motherboard platforms, for example, do not have overclocking support. While these platforms may still be suitable for budget-oriented PCs, the lack of overclocking capability is a significant drawback for those who want to push their system to its limits.

Furthermore, CPUs like the i5-8600K and i7-8700K, which are capable of high-speed overclocking, often come with motherboards that support advanced features like USB 3.2 Gen 2 and PCIe x16 slots. However, when it comes down to it, these upgrades may not be necessary for budget-conscious PC builders. A well-designed motherboard can still provide ample support for a wide range of peripherals and storage devices, making the need for high-end components less pressing.

The Real Cost of RAM

Another factor that limits performance in lower-end PCs is the cost of RAM. With the increasing demand for memory-intensive applications and games, DDR4 RAM has become a sought-after commodity. However, not all motherboards support faster speeds, limiting the ability to upgrade RAM to higher frequencies.

For example, the B360 platform only supports up to DDR4 2666 MHz, which is an effective barrier to those looking to take advantage of newer, faster memory technologies. While this may seem like a minor limitation, it can have significant implications for system performance and future-proofing.

A Coincidence in Tech News

Just recently, two articles caught my attention that seemed like unrelated events. However, they were actually connected by a curious thread. On one hand, an article announced that GTA 5 had surpassed all other media titles as the most successful game of all time, with over $6 billion in revenue generated since its release.

On the other side of the news spectrum, another article revealed that an employee named Ben Z's, who worked on the development of GTA V, was suing Take-Two Interactive for allegedly underpaying him $150 million. This shocking revelation has sparked a heated debate about contract negotiations and the value of intellectual property rights in the gaming industry.

The Poaching of Google's AI Head

Finally, it appears that Apple has made a surprise move by poaching Google's head of AI, who will be joining the Cupertino-based company to work on machine learning applications. While this news may seem like a minor development at first glance, its implications are significant.

Sources close to the matter suggest that Apple is looking to revamp Siri, their virtual assistant platform, and hopes that the new hire can help bring it up to speed with modern AI capabilities. As we all know, people's perceptions of Siri have been mixed over the years, with some users complaining about its limitations and shortcomings.

While I didn't expect this news, it highlights the ongoing cat-and-mouse game between tech giants as they try to outdo each other in the pursuit of innovation. Whether or not this move will pay off remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: the AI landscape has just gotten a lot more interesting.

WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhello and welcome and it's time for another episode of this week in the tech news here on darvid does tech stuff many texts there but as you know the more texts you have in the name of a tech channel and its segments the more legitimate it is now the first story involves a little bit of nostalgia because apparently in video is about to drop 32-bit operating systems support for their geforce drivers now this isn't the most surprising move because well so many companies have been dropping 32-bit support over the last couple of years and well to be honest who actually uses 32-bit operating systems anymore because i mean how do you not have more than full gig of total system memory including your GPU I mean the average GPU these days has like 6 gigs of ram in it basically so yeah but and this isn't really a devastating blow to the consumer to be honest let me know in the comments below when the last time was that you use the 32-bit operating system for your main PC and now moving on to Facebook again a story that I don't massively want to talk about but it is the ever-growing elephant in the evil tech company room so feel I have to mention it at least apparently on Monday Facebook sent out notifications to the 84 something million people whose information was stolen and then sold to a company that tried to elect Trump president well he didn't try and they succeeded to elect Trump president now I don't really know what they want to achieve with this because apparently they're also gonna tell them kind of how their data was used it doesn't really make it better to be honest and yeah again I don't read this is the kind of thing that isn't shocking anymore you know it's like it's it's like finding out that that Intel has some form of anti-competitive behavior it's just things that happens it's like the tides come in Facebook steals data Intel's anti-competitive it's just how the world works now on a happier more gamey note anybody that's been thinking of moving over to consoles because PC gaming is well super expensive because of graphics card and RAM prices there's actually some pretty good news that's making consoles seem a little bit more enticing Microsoft has started rolling out free sync support for the Xbox one and everything else that has the Xbox one name attached to it and I actually think this is a really good idea considering the fact that consoles normally have lower frame rates something like free sync could help giving a much smoother gaming experience now the article that was released on kit guru actually explaining that this is about to happen was saying that they were a bit worried that the fact that consoles are capped at 30 frames per second might mean that it doesn't make that big a difference and it would make a bigger difference if they could hit higher frame rates but the thing is as far as I know one of the bigger advantages of kind of the variable framerate technology like free sync or g-sync is that it makes lower frame rates way more playable so let's see maybe because there is a supposed static 30 frames per second coming out of the console it might not make a big difference but I think it's a move in the right direction and it's pretty cool considering all this talk of PC gaming being too expensive Intel has kind of moved in the right direction and brought out the H 370 and B 360 chipsets which are the kind of more budget focused chipsets for their coffee like CPUs now this is something that should have come out ages ago because if you were buying something like an i3 coffee like CPU or the lower-end I 5 CPUs there was the only thing you could do was buy a Zed 370 motherboard which cost a lot more than the CPU did and it kind of defeated the purpose of the cheaper CPUs but now that you have these these lower end motherboard chipsets it means that you can get a motherboard under $100 that supports one of these new coffee-like CPUs now you do lose some features you lose things like overclocking support which isn't a big deal because the non cave variant CPUs you can't overclock anyway and that's pretty much every CPU except for the eighty-six hundred K and the 8700 K so you know everything under that you it doesn't matter that the the H 370 and B 360 motherboards don't have overclocking support and you also lose things like they've got fewer PCI Express Lanes it goes down from like 24 to 20 PCI Express Lanes which does make a difference but the thing is if you were kind of more budget oriented PC if you're building a more budget oriented PC it doesn't really matter that much because you've still got enough support for a full 16 times graphics card slot an SSD and a couple of hard drives and you've still got decent i/o like a lot of these B 360 motherboards which is the lower end one has support for things like full 3.1 USB 3.1 C support and a bunch of USB 3 ports so as far as IO and things like that goes it's still a pretty decent option for the lower end PC market the problem with cheaper pcs these days is that RAM is super expensive so it means that you're not going to be able to put as much RAM in but one thing that is also limited on something like the p 360 platform is that it supports ram only up to the speed of ddr4 2666 and if you have faster memory than that there's no way that you can kind of clock it up to the higher speed the platform only supports 2666 which means you don't have to worry about getting more expensive ram but then again you don't have that option available to you if you want to do now here's a bit of an interesting coincidence on the tech news landscape about 13 hours ago an article was released about how GTA 5 has now overtaken everything else as the most successful media title ever in the history of the world and it's apparently pulled in over 6 billion dollars of revenue over the however many years it's been out I don't know how long the games been out to be honest and this makes it just a now this article is all very impressive but then just like half an hour after that an article was released about how an employee or an ex-employee from take two or take notes or take the hat or whatever the company is called that makes GTA 5 is apparently suing them because he deserves a hundred and fifty million dollars in revenue which he signed a contract for apparently at some point because it's a licensing thing that he came up with and it's not really clear why he thinks he deserves one hundred and fifty million dollars but yeah he apparently wanted to show up for work one day and they told him well you just kind of don't work here anymore and then he immediately went to the law and said that he's now suing the company now it's pretty interesting because nobody really knows if he's how much money he's actually entitled to and how much he's gonna get but something weird obviously happened between him Benzies I think I think his name is Ben Z's and the take note or take that or take two company and now moving on to a topic that I used to talk about a lot but it's kind of died down in the last couple of months is while a I apparently Google's head of AI has been poached by Apple because well they want him to do AI things over an apple instead of at Google now the thing is they're saying that what they want him to do is kind of help with machine learning applications and things like that but I think they're kind of secretly just wanted to go over and fix Siri because apparently people don't like Siri very much I thought Siri was supposedly one of the better kind of like AI assistance applications but according to some sources people say it sucks I didn't really know I didn't really know that was the case I just I'm all I hear is people complaining about Bigsby didn't realize Siri was under flag and with that that's all I have to talk about today thank you very much for watching if you like the video do like and subscribe to the
