Creating a Tango Girl Look: A Step-by-Step Guide

Hi guys, I'm Judy, and welcome to HGTV Handmade today! We're going to create a stunning Tango girl look that's perfect for Halloween. This look is all about creating a sultry, sexy vibe using smokey eyes, red lips, and a quick updo. The best part about this look is that it can be used for any costume you want, so feel free to experiment and make it your own.

To start, we'll begin with foundation. I like to apply my foundation with a brush first and then blend it out with a sponge. This not only gets rid of any foundation strings but also creates a flawless finish on the skin. Make sure to choose a foundation that matches your skin tone and is suitable for your skin type.

Next, we'll move on to concealer. I apply a triangle shape underneath my eyes and also on my lids. I've found that concealer makes an amazing primer for eyeshadows, especially if you have oily or combination skin like myself. Don't forget to use a setting powder around the T-zone to set everything in place.

Now it's time to work on our eyeshadows. We're going to create a smokey eye look using dark shadows on the lids and crease. I start by lining my eyebrows first, then filling them in with the rest of the color. Next, I pack on a dark eyeshadow onto my lids and up to my crease. Don't worry if it's not perfect – we'll blend it out soon.

To create a seamless transition from one shade to another, I'm mixing shades of brown for my transition color. This will help soften any harsh lines and create a smooth, cohesive look. After blending out the edges, I take the dark shadow from earlier and fill in my lower lash line, making sure to connect it to the shadow on my lids.

I then highlight my brow bone with a soft satin white shade, adding depth and dimension to the overall look. To complete our smokey eye, I apply eyeliner to my lid and lower lash line, finishing off with some false lashes for added drama.

Moving on to the face, we're going to contour the hollows of my cheeks and temples with a deep matte brown shade. This will create definition and structure to the features without looking too harsh. Next, I'll apply blush to the apples of my cheeks using Berry pink. Every Tango dancer must rock red lips, so I'm starting off with a deep wine color, then filling them in with red lipstick by puckering my lips together.

Finally, we have our hair – the perfect finishing touch for this look. We're going to curl our ends and smooth out the rest of the hair into a low side ponytail, excluding the hair on our nape. To add some texture and volume, I'll create a loose braid and wrap it around our hair tie, securing it with several bobby pins. If you have short hair, you can skip the braid and simply pin curl your hair directly on one side.

To complete our look, we'll accessorize with roses – I just pulled them from the stem and attached hair pins to the bottom. The final touch is adding some black heels to complete the Tango girl look. And that's it! With these simple steps, you can create a stunning smokey eye look, red lips, and quick updo that's perfect for Halloween or any costume party.
