Reviewing Destroy Twitter: A Favorite Client for Marcus Brownley
Hey what's up guys, it's Marcus Brownley here from MKBHD and welcome to another application review, another HD tutorial. Today, I'm going to be taking a look at Destroy Twitter, which is a Twitter client that I've been using for just about as long as I can imagine. This is actually my favorite Twitter client over Tweet Deck, and I actually do prefer this over Tweet Deck, so I'm going to be showing you what I can in the time allotted.
One of the things I want to highlight first is the timeline. As you can see, it's nice and smooth, with the same scroll bar and pictures and tweets themselves. You can also click on names of the people to view their profiles, and you can see that there's still blue for mentions. One of the things that didn't transfer over was themes, so unfortunately, there are no themes yet, but you can still use the default Twitter theme.
Another thing I want to show you is preferences. Since Destroy Twitter has been known for a very simple interface, you can check out all these preferences if I just extend this to be a little bit taller here, so we can view all of them. Now, since I'm not going to go through all of them, I'll just show you all of them now. You can have it open up at startup and always be on top - although I don't think that's something you get yet, but you can choose whether or not they have small, large, or no icons, which is cool. And you can change your retweet format; I usually use this native one, and one of the cool things about Destroy Twitter is that you can change the sound it makes.
Down here under notifications for sound, you can actually preview them, and, as you've probably heard before, they're actually the same sound as Tweet Deck. However, personally, I prefer to leave it with the standard Mora sound, which just seems a little bit simpler and more enjoyable. That's just a brief rundown of a couple of the preferences; there are many other very cool things about Destroy Twitter.
Now, let's take a look at this button down here. When you click on this button, you'll have the same popup that you typically get for tweeting, but with some added features. You can restore your previous tweet, and also, you can choose to upload a file using this little plus button. I'll upload to Twitpic by default, although you can use bitly for shortening links instead of posting them in a separate box - it's a great feature that allows you to just put the link in here and have it auto-shorten.
In fact, let's take a closer look at this file upload feature. You can simply hit the plus button, select your file from your device, and then choose where to save it. It's a very streamlined process that makes uploading files easy and convenient. And once you've uploaded your file, you can access it directly within the app.
So, that's all I have for today's review of Destroy Twitter. You can check out this awesome client for yourself by following the link in the description below. Maybe you'll even end up downloading it and making it your default Twitter app. Thanks for watching this high-definition video tutorial, and I'll talk to you guys in the next one.
One more thing I forgot to mention is complete window resizing - that's cool anyway.
