DIY Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme _ Stretch Your Budget $2 Meals

Making a DIY Crunchwrap Supreme at Home

The first step in making our DIY Crunchwrap Supreme is to warm up some chili sauce. I've found that ounce for ounce, this works out to be 33 cents worth of sauce. As I'm warming it up, I notice that it actually smells like chili peppers, but I'm gonna let it cool down a bit so it's nice and meltable.

Now we're ready to assemble our Crunchwrap. We need to find the largest tortilla that we can get our hands on - the flour kind is perfect for this job. If we can't find giant ones, we can use smaller ones and just patch up the middle with a little bit of extra dough if needed. Even my Taco Bell version one had a small gap in the middle, so don't worry if yours doesn't cover it entirely completely.

Next, we're gonna fill that tortilla with some seasoned ground beef. I'm draining it a little bit to make sure it's not too juicy and keeping things nice and compact in the middle. Then, we're gonna add a sprinkle of melted cheese on top - this is where our flavors really start to come together.

Now we need to top that cheese with a crispy tostada. This is a deep-fried corn tortilla, and it's one of my favorite parts of the Crunchwrap. The 12-cent price tag for these babies is well worth it - I mean, who doesn't love a crunchy snack on the side? We're gonna add some sour cream on top of that tostada, and this will only cost us another 12 cents or so - depending on how much we use.

Next up are some lettuce leaves and sliced tomatoes. These might seem like small additions, but they really make all the difference in terms of texture and flavor. Now our Crunchwrap is starting to come together - it's got our ground beef, cheese, tostada, sour cream, lettuce, and tomatoes. All we need now is a little bit of crunch and some heat.

That's where the sauce comes back into play. I'm gonna add a small dollop on top of my Crunchwrap, not because I need all that extra flavor, but because it adds just the right amount of chili kick to our meal. And speaking of heat, we've got a few different options available here - including some spicy sauces from HelloFresh.

But first, let's take a look at our original Crunchwrap Supreme. It looks almost... identical to our homemade version! The flavors are pretty spot on, and I can see why they're so popular. But what really gets me is the crunch of that tostada on the inside - it's still there in my version, even if it doesn't quite have the same level of crispiness.

Now, let's talk about some of the other flavors and ingredients that make up our Crunchwrap Supreme. I've got a little taste test going on here with some Diablo sauce - this is one of the hottest sauces from HelloFresh, and it's definitely making an impact. It adds just the right amount of heat to our meal without overpowering any of the other flavors.

Of course, all of these ingredients come together in perfect harmony when we assemble our Crunchwrap Supreme. We're talking crunchy tostada, melted cheese, savory ground beef, tangy sour cream - and on top of it all, a sprinkle of chili sauce for good measure. And let's not forget that little piece of Diablo sauce we added on the side - it really takes our meal to the next level.

So there you have it, folks - my DIY Crunchwrap Supreme recipe is ready to be devoured! With just a few simple ingredients and some basic cooking skills, you can create a meal that tastes almost identically to the real thing. And at a fraction of the cost - what's not to love? Thanks so much for joining me in this culinary adventure, and I'll see you all in the next video!

to be making DIYhomemade Crunchwrap Supremesfor significantly lessthan what you would payif you went through the drive through. Now I admit, I have neverhad a Crunchwrap Supremealthough I can easilyimagine what it tastes like.I find a lot of thingson the Taco Bell menuare just permutationsof the same ingredients, just different shapes.Maybe things are on theoutside or on the inside, but I can imagine this tasting good.I, as a child, ate many Taco Supremes. That was my favorite.Crunchy, of course, and I've never had a Crunchwrap Supreme, which is essentially a flourwrapped, grilled Taco Supreme,if you ask me.There is a tostada shell inside,so you get that crunchy shell. You've got the meat, you've got the lettuce, you got the tomatoes, alittle bit of nacho cheeseinstead of shredded cheese.I guess that's a little bit different. And then it's all encased ina flour tortilla wrapped up,parceled and grilled soit's nice and toasty. So you get a little bitof that quesadilla-ness.So first thing we need to do,is taste a Crunchwrap Supreme. So, I have one right here. Here it is in this bag. This was $5.99 for this.So let's break this down. There it is.That is the one sideand here is the other. So it's a tortilla and ithas been grilled and toasted. And inside, we havelettuce, tomato, tostada, nacho cheese and some ground beef. And let's see.I'm curious to see how muchground beef is in here. Not too much.I would just say a coupletablespoons, really.Kind of all mushed in there. And let's go ahead and give this a taste.Cut it in half. That's what it looks like in profile. And let's give it a taste. Here we go.Itadakimasu.The tostada is no longer crunchy.I was hoping I'd get a nice big crunch, but this has been sitting inits bag for a few minutes. So the moisture from the sour creamand the meat and cheesehas kind of softened it,but in terms of what it tasteslike, it tastes pretty good.Mhmm.You get that well-seasoned,salty, beefy meat;the cheese kind of keeps everything moist.I like the crunch of thelettuce and the additionaljust greenery.Got some fresh tomatoes in there. You've got the sour creamthat kind of binds everything together. What it is missing forme, is that big crunch. This is a Crunchwrap, after all.Had I eaten it freshly made,I think that crunch would still be there. You still have that kindof nice fried corny flavorin there as well. The flour tortilla on theoutside's a little bit dry too,but also again, this has been sitting. Is this an improvementto the Taco Supreme?I'm not really sure.I know I have nostalgic biastowards the just regularCrunchy Taco Supreme. But I think in just terms ofmy own personal preference,I've always preferred crunchycorn to flour tortillas. So the version I'm gonnabe showing you today, hopefully will tasteas good, if not better, than Taco Bell's.But besides that, it'llsave you a ton of money. My version will cost you around $2as opposed to the $5.99,that's before any kinds oftax or delivery charges, for the Taco Bell version. So let's go ahead and get started.Alrighty, so I've got askillet here heating upon medium heat.I'm gonna warm up a little bit of oiland I've got one pound of ground beef. This was originally at $5.99,but my grocery store hadthis on sale for $4.49,so this 1.12 pounds of groundbeef was 5 dollars and 3 cents. And then I'm gonna be seasoning itwith a packet of taco seasoning. And this was 99 cents. So one Crunchwrap will useabout 75 cents of seasoned meat. That includes the priceof seasoning as well. So, I've got a little oil in the pan.If you're using a non-stick pan,you could skip the oil.Drop the meat into there.(meat sizzling)And we're gonna break that up.Whenever handling raw meat, make sure you wash your handsthoroughly...before and after. Now, we're just gonna fry this upuntil all the ground beef is cooked. Now I've noticed Taco Bell's ground beefis pretty saucy and wet.So we are gonna imitate that by keeping inall that lovely grease --that's tons of flavor. This is 85%, I believe,or 80% ground beef to fat.I actually prefer fattier beef, because I find it's more flavorful. If you'd like to drain offexcess fat, by all means, do so.And then, I'm gonna add onepacket of taco seasoning. This is already salted,so there's no need to addany additional salt to this. And some water.Add a little at a time. And we're just going tobring this up to a simmerand cook this untilall the beef is cooked. You'll know that when youdon't see any pink leftand the meat looks nice and crumbly.Okay, so while that's just simmering away,it won't take long, just a few minutes,I'm going to prepare my veggies. So I have a head of lettuce. This was $1.99.Peel off the outside wilted bits. And about a quarter inch slices. So one small head oflettuce would be enoughfor 16 Crunchwraps, I'm estimating. So even if it was 12 Crunchwraps, this would be 16 cents worth of lettuce. We also need some choppedtomatoes to make this a Supreme. And this tomato actuallygrew in my garden.I will put the variety of tomato herebecause I forgot which one this is.I grew a few varieties of tomato, but I'm so happy with this variety.I will definitely grow it next year. It's perfect size for one serving for me.And they also keep pretty well, too.I picked this a few daysago and it's not bruised. It's not overly mushy, not overly ripe.Lovely tomato.Love it.Okay, so since I grew this tomato,it was essentially free. And for one Crunchwrap, ifyou were to purchase a tomato,it would be about 12 cents.Okay, so.Veggies chopped.Set these aside.Come back to the beef andthis is looking great.Lovely and saucy. And this is finished. When I calculated the75 cents worth of beef,I calculated eight Crunchwraps. But now looking at this,I think this could make more like 12.Did you see how littlemeat was in the original? If you wanna make it Taco Bell style,it's just really a couple tablespoons. But if you wanna be more generouswhen you're making your own, by all means.I said eight portions for one poundand that is still a lotof meat per Crunchwrap.Next, we need some cheesy sauce. This is Tostitos. This is the pre-made stuff. This was $4.89, so ifwe use an ounce of this, this works out to be 33cents worth of sauce.So.Mm, smells actually like chili peppers, but I'm gonna warm this upso it's a nice and meltable. So now we're ready toassemble the Crunchwrap.Find the largest tortillasthat you can find, the flour kind.If you can't find giant ones, you can find smaller onesand you can make a littlepatch for the middle.Even my Taco Bell version onehad a little space in the middle. So if it doesn't cover itentirely, everything will be fine.Take some of our groundbeef, seasoned meat.Place it in the middle.I'm draining it a littlebit so it's not too juicyand keeping things in the middle.Next, we're gonna top thatwith a little bit of our melted cheese.Next, we're gonna topthat with our tostada. This is a deep fried corn tortilla.12 cent tostada on top.Next, I'm gonna take some sour creamand spread it on the tostada. And that's about 12 cents, or 16 cents, depending on how much you put. Then we add our lettuce, just a pinch. And tomatoes. Now we're gonna fold everything up.Just like it's got a little diaper.Oh, this is the perfect size tortilla.Look at this.Perfect.Yeah. Look at that.Beautiful! Now we're gonna turn it over,so that it kind of squishes downand I've got a little non-stick fry pan.And now I'm gonna puta drop of oil in there.Couple drops of oil.Swizzle that around. And then we're gonna place our Crunchwrapright into there.Give it a good press. And I'm choosing to put it seam side down, just so we can geteverything to stay shut.Spin it around, get it nice and oily. And we're gonna fry it up a bit.And then we're gonna give this a taste.Okay, we're ready to flip.Beautiful!Look at that.Gorgeous.Alrighty, lovelies. This is complete.Homemade and this is the original. But I would say that's a prettygood looking dupe, right?Alrighty, let's goahead and cut this open.(food crunches)That's a crunch.Granted, I just made this, right? It hasn't been sitting in apaper bag for any time at all.Just made it.Pretty good. Here's the original.(relaxing upbeat music)Itadakimasu.Mhmm.The flavors are pretty spot on.Mhmm.I find in the homemade version,I taste the sour cream morethan I did in the originaland the original tastes saltier. The taco seasoning is delicious. The crunch of the tostadainside is still present. It's not as soggy asthe original, but again, this was just freshly made. But I like how the tostada not onlygives that little bit of crunch, but it also gives thatkind of fried corny flavorto it as well. This is great. It tastes just likeTaco Bell in my opinion.I have not had Taco Bell'shot sauce in so long.So I'm gonna try a little bit of that. This is the mild.Pretty mild.Watery.Not my favorite.I'm just gonna skip to,this one's Diablo --I'm guessing this is the hottest one, since Diablo means devil. Here we go.Mhmm.That actually has some heat.In terms of heat though,it's still very mild.I would say around the level of a Tabasco.Very different flavorthan Tabasco, not smokey. This is more just kindof like a cayenne heatand a slight chili flavor. Not much.A little moisture too, ifyour situation's a little dry, maybe some Diablo.Hmm.But it does add another facet to this mealby giving you some actual chili heat, along with the heat of justcooking the meal itself.Alrighty, my lovelies, there you have it.DIY Crunchwrap Supreme.Delicious.Tastes just like the originalfor a fraction of the cost. Thanks so much forjoining me and big thanksto Hellofresh for sponsoring this video. If you'd like to try outHellofresh for yourself, click the link down below or head overto hellofresh.com anduse my code EMMYMADE16to receive 16 freemeals across seven boxesand three free gifts. Thanks again for watching.I hope you enjoyed that one.I hope you learned something. Please share this video with your friends.Follow me on social media.I love hearing from you.Like this video, subscribe, and I shall see you in the next one.Toodaloo, take care.Bye!(orchestral outro music)(fun upbeat music)I'm bleeding.I'm a vampire.\n"
