666HP McLaren 540C _ REVIEW on AUTOBAHN

I guess we're also changing the name right so the C compared to the 570s you know it's more of an entrylevel sport series for McLaren this is to introduce people to the brand it's not available anymore as you know but at some point it was it wasn't very popular because a lot of people went for the more powerful and more sporty 570s and this was back when McLaren thought like okay we have a new chassis we have a new engine um let's look at Porsche and do a bit of diversification so what they did they took the same car called it the 540c the 570s and the 570 GT this is the last one I had to drive so I've driven the GT didn't really care for that the S I thought was perfect now let's see how this C version Compares so the first thing I noticed is that we don't have carbon ceramic brakes which I think is a shame they were optional for the C they were as standard for the 570s and I think they were optional for the GT as well so the GT of course is the more you know touring oriented Road use version of the three and as I said this is more of an entry level little less power little less equipment and stuff like that so even the front is a bit different compared to the S so these fins and arrows bits they're a bit shorter a bit less pronounced a bit less aggressive um we have two 25 section front tires I think they did that really Nar Tire to really get that sharp front end which uh it definitely has pilot port for tires definitely an improvement over the factory P 0er so this side skirt little less aggressive than with the S 3.8 oh that's Daryl's second car the DBS super legera max is driving it right now uh here we have the 3.8 V8 by Turbo a very well-known engine by McLaren I think my favorite turbocharged engine it is so aggressive its character is really like a race car and compared to that dual CL gearbox it's absolutely mindblowing from a Driving Experience point the performance is also mindblowing both those aspects are just A10 noch spoiler it is so floppy look at that how is it pushing down like 200k on the car I can't imagine it doing it because you know if I gave it like 30 or 40 kilos of pressure I I think it would break it it even has so much Flex that Daryl had to put to put ppf on this piece right here because on the autoban it will actually hit it which to me is insane um other than that we have slightly different exhaust for the 540c and a slightly different rear diffuser so those are pretty much the external bits that are different with a c how wide are these rear tires 285s so as I said this has had a little chew by Gad in the UK so this is no longer a 540c but a 666c that sounds sexy Oh wrong side a lot of them have like tiny little issues or big issues there's always something and it's the same with this because it's been having these little hiccups it shouldn't have um but that's the McLaren life they're not perfect their cars drive like Perfection but they don't behave in a durability sense like Perfection but I you know you can't have it all you can't have it all it's an English car you get the English Driving Experience right um let's put the car into D we're going for active everything into track mode manual for the gearbox then we also get launch control control if we find a nice bit of straight road uh let's don't use the E braake what I love about these McLarens are these what is it rocket switches something like that um so you can have like this magnetic pedal which gives this very satisfying little tick and you can also shift up and down with one pedal which is really quite conven vent in a corner stuff like that so I'm going to keep the windows open until we hit the ultra B because it's super hot and of course of course the AC isn't working oh that's what I meant the aggression of this drivetrain is seriously like a race car the way it you know builds up the ref so so much aggression and I just love that it's a bit too much I think let's do that oh at the moment the turbo spool up you're just gone when it comes to reps it just flies through them and then that little tick from the shift padle gives you that super super Snappy shift both up and down really the drivetrain is perfect okay let's do a launch control run so this is miles an hour so you're looking at 60 or 62 for 100 kph press that awaiting Full Throttle who's building who's ready wow yeah that is seriously quick so we have an extra 120 horsepower which makes the car very exciting to drive I guess the normal one I haven't driven the stock one only the the um s and the GT I'm going to close them um but I guess the normal one already is very very quick but this is just insane just a simple EC map that's the benefit of McLaren using all the same engines in their various models they all get slightly down tuned oh want to hear that exhaust right wow who says turbocharge engines can't really sing this definitely sings but it's a lovely rad car it's size is just perfect it's only, 1300 kilos dry weight so that's why it feels so Nimble and sharp and playful and it really does make an R8 look like a toy car from a dynamic perspective I think the Dynamics of a McLaren you know each and every model are just incredible I'm much prefer them from a driving perspective over even a Porsche or a Ferrari or a Lamborghini then you can really tell that it's a motorsport brand and not a car brand in essence so I really like what they brought to the table there I'm not too sure about these steel brakes I feel like they might give up I don't have a lot of Reserve when I'm like demanding certain brake performance from it and that sort of scares me for the ultra bomb bit because I know how fast this car is so when you have speed you also want brake performance how fast is that guy going with two bicycles so I'm really going to look ahead and not rely on these brakes too much so it's not happy with its tire pressures but they're changing all the time um what what is he doing you're not even overtaking come on but wow the performance incredible so 666 horsepower oh don't get the steel brakes guys don't 666 horsepower and 5.2 something seconds 100 to 200 that's insane honestly and that's the same story with McLaren each and every time the performance every aspect of performance they outperform everyone so you know it is so much quicker than other sports cars with the same amount of power so back in the day when this car was released I think McLaren was the only one with hydraulic steering everyone went to electric power steering but you know this hydraulic system is just very very you know natural and it's got some flesh to it that lovely flat plane crank sound V8 that's I think the small Supercar sound so you just can't imagine if you drive this car that there's you know even more capable models of available with sort of the same ingredients you know the 570s um even with their performance pack or Track Pack what's whatever it's called but then you also get the um 600 LT which is one of my favorite cars ever W that is so nice guys really oh it is so sharp it feels so light this is the car you want to drive but you don't want to own in my opinion I mean Daryl has had a bit of luck he's owned the car for like 16 months now hasn't had too many issues so you know then you're in luck because I've heard different stories a it is so good it is really really good and when the exhaust gets like really hot you get this Bang from the downshift which feels so natural and mechanical and just love it oh what a car what a car I love what McLaren
