How to Set Up And Use NEOGEO Emulator Retropie Raspberry pi 1 2 3 and Zero

Setting Up and Using Your Neo Geo Emulator on Retro Pi 3.7

Hey what's going on everybody it's ETA Prime back here again today I'm here with my Raspberry Pi 3 running retro Pi 3.7 and I want to show you how to set up and use your Neo Geo emulator now first thing we need to do is go into our Raspberry Pi running retro Pi go to the Retro Pi menu scroll down till we see show IP you need to open your show IP you need to copy your IP address down now you're going to need this just in case we can't get into the raspberry pi over network with another way that I'm going to show you so just remember that IP address take a picture of it if you have to so this is retro pi I 3.7 I am using a bluetooth PS3 controller I am also connected to the same exact Network as my computer the computer that I am using to transfer my ROMs and bioses from so just remember your IP address and we're going to move to the computer right now

All right so there's a few things you're going to need to get started with this tutorial. You'll need a Raspberry Pi, a microSD card, a power source, an internet connection, and of course the Retro Pi 3.7 software. Make sure your Raspberry Pi is fully powered up before proceeding to the next step. Next, we need to connect our PS3 controller to our computer via Bluetooth or wirelessly if you prefer. For this tutorial I will be using a wireless setup so my PS3 controller is connected and ready for use.

Once you have everything set up let's move on to setting up your Neo Geo emulator. First things first, you'll need to download the neogeo.zip file from the internet. This file contains all the necessary files required for running Neo Geo games on your Retro Pi 3.7. Once you've downloaded the file save it onto a microSD card. Make sure the file is in a folder named "roms" and that there's no extra directory or name tags attached to it.

Now that we have our neogeo.zip file we can move on to setting up our Retro Pi 3.7. First, insert your microSD card into the top right slot of your Raspberry Pi. Make sure it clicks into place securely so it doesn't fall out easily. Next, go to the Retro Pie menu and select the "boot" option by clicking on the three dots above the file names. You should now see a dropdown menu that says "Retro Pie". Select this and click on "Boot with retro pi" again

Now that we have everything set up let's test out our Neo Geo emulator. To do so, go to your Retro Pi menu select "settings" and look for the option to download any missing files required by emulators like this one is called "reinstall missing files". This will ensure you can play all of your neo geo roms on your raspberry pi. Select "download" then "start" if prompted. This may take a few minutes depending on your internet connection speed.

Now that we have our missing files re-downloaded, let's test out our Neo Geo emulator. To do so, go to your Retro Pi menu select the "roms" option from the top left corner of the screen and then click on "neogeo.zip". Then click on the neogeo.zip file and you will see all the necessary files for running neo geo games. There is a note that says "Make sure the bios folder is in the same directory as your game roms".

Now that we have everything set up let's move on to playing our Neo Geo games. To do so, select the neogeo.zip file again then click on it and you will see all of the necessary files for running neo geo games. We need to extract these files out of their zip folder. So I'll just click on "extract all" so now we can play a game.

First let's test our Neo Geo emulator by playing one of the classic games, SNK vs Capcom. To do so, select "SNK VS Capcom - The World Masters" from the list of files you just extracted. Then click on it and this is when things will get really fun. You'll see a screen with credits 01 there,2,3 four inserted coins here I'm going to press start on my PS3 controller I'm going to press start again we are now ready to play SNK vs Capcom.

Using your d-pad to control your character is quite easy so this is what it looks like when you insert coin. And select that would bring you out of the game and go back to the main menu. Now let's try a different game, Metal Slug 4. To do so I'll just press A on my PS3 controller or whatever button you map your X or A to.

If everything is set up properly you should see the Metal Slug 4 game screen now. And that's it guys that's how you run Neo Geo games on your Raspberry Pi running retro Pi 3.7 with a bluetooth ps3 controller so I hope this tutorial was helpful and easy to follow let me know if you have any questions or comments leave them in the comment section below or send me a private message if you have any requests on emulator setup for the Raspberry Pi running retro Pi
