OnePlus 7T Pro (McLaren Edition) vs. Galaxy Note 10+ Speed Test

The Galaxy Note m+ and the Wampus Sedna Pro have been sitting at the top of our speed test rankings for a while now, but we were initially planning to run the test against the regular OnePlus 70. However, after hearing about the 70 Pro and specifically this Debet Dow McLaren edition of the phone, we decided to wait.

We're glad we did, as both phones are packing some serious power. In fact, they're almost identical except for two key differences. The first difference is that the OnePlus 70 Pro uses the upgraded Snapdragon 855 Plus chip instead of the standard 855 found on the Note m+. The second difference is that the Wampus Sedna Pro uses the newer F2FS file system compared to the older ext4 system found on the OnePlus.

In theory, both of these differences should have at least some effect on performance. However, there's no real way to know how much of a difference they make without actually testing them out. So, let's get to the test and see which phone comes out on top.

After the test, you can find the official rankings on our website at the link below, created with the sponsor of today's video in Wix. Alright, let's kick things off by starting the stopwatches on each phone and then jumping into the first row where the OnePlus 70 Pro gets to step over the Note m+ in Facebook and is able to improve its lead in Starbucks here in Microsoft Word. We'll see if the OnePlus can create some more separation between itself and the Note while loading this 500-page document. While the 70 Pro did let that document load at a slightly faster rate, it wasn't by much, which might cost the OnePlus.

In the camera test, considering that the Note doesn't have to physically pop up its selfie cam like the 70 Pro does, we were somewhat surprised when both phones snapped that selfie at identical rates. In Snapseed, both Walter and editing the same exact photo by applying two different filters, this time around the Note m+ was actually able to do so at a faster rate, cutting into the OnePlus' lead.

As each phone begins working on rendering this video, an area where we would expect the 70 Pro's Snapdragon 855 Plus processor to outperform the Note, that doesn't look like it's going to happen. Not only is the Note catching up to the 70 Pro, but it's actually passing it as we move on to the browser test. This difference could be due to the Note's different file system and F2FS or it could just be an optimization thing with a 70 Pro being such a new device.

But either way, the two phones are neck-and-neck in this area, with no significant difference between them in terms of performance. In the gaming row, there was no difference between the two phones, and only a slight edge for the Note in Flip Diving. Three quarters into this first lap, the difference between the two phones is not that big, while the Note is still holding onto its lead as it begins working on Forward Assault.

The OnePlus 70 Pro is still right there behind it, and unless something drastic happens in the last row, we don't know if that's going to change. The Note flew through Spotify just like it did with ESPN, and once again in Hulu, meaning the Note finishes this test with a time of 1 minute and 55 seconds, just two seconds ahead of the 70 Pro, which comes in at 1 minute and 57 seconds.

In the second lap, with both phones having 12 gigabytes RAM, that's unlikely to change, except for slightly slower animations on the Note. The two phones perform the same, ending just one second apart, which isn't enough to declare a clear winner. Making it this speed test a tie, anyways. That is it for me in this video, and as always, I'll see you in the very next episode.
