Apple's Next Gen Mac Pro: A Niche Product?

The upcoming Apple Silicon Mac Pro is expected to be a powerful machine, but its pricing structure and design might make it an extraordinary niche product. As mentioned by German, "an M2 extreme version of a Mac Pro would probably cost at least ten thousand dollars without any other upgrades making it an extraordinarily niche product that isn't likely worth the development costs engineering resources and production bandwidth it would require." This statement suggests that Apple is focusing on creating a machine that caters to specific needs rather than mass-market appeal.

On the other hand, rumors suggest that the Mac Pro will rely on a new generation M2 Ultra chip instead of the M1 Ultra. The M2 Ultra is expected to offer improved performance and efficiency compared to its predecessor. Additionally, one of the hallmarks of the Mac Pro is easy expandability for additional memory, storage, and other components. This feature is likely to remain unchanged in the upcoming model.

New Displays on the Horizon?

Apple is reportedly working on multiple new external monitors, including an update to the Pro Display XDR. The company's next high-end display might ship before the Mac Pro, but it's uncertain at this point. Another development involves a new iMac with an M3 chip, which is expected to launch "probably" at the end of 2023 or early 2024. However, considering the number of products in Apple's pipeline and the current economic situation, it's unlikely that the M3 iMac will arrive before 2024.

OLED Displays for Future iPad Pro?

A new report from Elect claims that Samsung is prioritizing the development of OLED displays for future iPad Pro models. According to Ross Young, "Samsung has prioritized the development of a particular display type that uses two stack tandem OLED panels." This focus on specific display technology might mean that Samsung will allocate fewer resources to developing full-cut OLED displays with just a single OLED layer.

Apple's iPhone and Product Development

In a surprising turn of events, Tesla has beaten Apple to market with an air power-like charger. The new product is available for $300 and is called the "Tesla Shot." While it might not be as impressive as what Apple would release or plan to release, many people will still purchase it due to its association with Tesla's brand.

Stalking Prevention: Find My App Saves the Day

In a heartwarming story related to the Find My app, a hotel guest in Montreal used the feature to help police track down her stolen AirPods. The incident began when the woman filed a police report after being victimized by a hotel staff member who didn't assist her in locating a Louis Vuitton purse and some cash that had been taken from her room. After noticing that her AirPods were missing, she checked out the Find My app, which showed them moving between the hotel and another location over multiple days. The police secured a court order to get a list of employees from the hotel and obtained an authorized search warrant for the address repeatedly appearing in Find My.

The investigation led to the recovery of the stolen AirPods, but unfortunately, there was no sign of the handbag or cash. The thief remains at large, but it's likely that they are being held by authorities. This story serves as a reminder to always be cautious when using smartphones and other devices in public places. It's also essential to utilize features like Find My and report any suspicious activity to prevent similar incidents from occurring.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up guys my name is Brandon and welcome back to a holiday edition of Apple weekly so apple is done releasing new software and hardware for the year but we still have quite a bit to discuss so in this episode we're going to talk about even more new features discovered in iOS 16.2 along with two major problems with the software that have people wishing they never even updated and then after covering the software we're going to discuss the multiple new Macs coming next year why Apple will likely cancel the iPhone se4 Tesla beating Apple to the market for a product an update on the NFL Sunday Ticket the find my feature finally making the news for a good reason and much more and as always if you guys want to stay updated with all things Apple make sure to click that subscribe button down below so you don't miss next week's episode so let's start by talking about iOS 16.2 which is the latest public release of course we do have 16.3 beta 1 but there's really not too much going on with that software so I will not be talking about that in this week's episode but if you're curious about that watch my 16.3 beta 1 video and last week's Apple weekly episode but anyways let's talk about some additional features here in 16.2 so as you can see in the shortcuts application we have several new actions for books so we have 16.1.2 over here on the left 16.2 and later on the right and you can see we have multiple new actions and we don't only have the add PDF to books so you can now search in books Turn the Page play audiobook open book all of that you could add to your shortcuts or your automations we also have several improvements and shortcuts including the set parked car action no longer presumes you're with your car the speak text has improved reliability and the start timer action adds a prompt to select a time now also in 16.2 we have a new toggle at the bottom of our iCloud settings that has not appeared since the original 16.0 software for whatever reason it was removed but now it is back and we're not talking about Advanced Data protection we're talking about this toggle right here that says access iCloud data on the web so you can actually turn that off so that you you are not able to or anybody else is not able to access your iCloud data from a web client so that basically they're going to have to be on your iPhone to access your iCloud data and you will see this splash screen appears right here and asks you don't access your iCloud data on the web I'm going to go ahead and tap on don't access and so now if you try to access your iCloud data from the web you will get this prompt right here and it says you turned off iCloud data web access and now if you tap on manage on device it will actually send you a link and it will take you to that part in your settings so if I go here you will see this is the prompt that you will get and if you tap on that notification it will take you straight into your iCloud settings so that is a good option to have for security reasons that way nobody can see your iCloud data from a web client they're going to actually have to have an iPhone with your Apple ID logged in so that's a good security feature at least to have the option to turn on or off if we head into the App Store and go to the search tab at the bottom right here under discover some people are seeing some search lift icons next to the search results however I am not seeing that right here but that was a feature included with 16.2 and then something I wanted to give you guys an update on is live activities with Uber and ubereats so apparently this feature works for Uber but I tried this just the other day with ubereats and as you can see I have an ubereats order that is on the way on my 14 pro and I'm not getting any type of live activity I even checked in settings to make sure my location was on I ticked and unticked the live activities toggle and it's still nothing for ubereats so I did try this with Uber and it works with Uber but for some reason it still is not working with ubereats and then I also wanted to talk about a feature in 16.2 that I've been using a lot more than I thought I would and that is in Safari so if you tap on the two A's right here we have a new toggle here that it shows and hides our IP address and this of course is related to the private relay features if you tap on show IP address it will show your IP address and you can go and tap it again and it will hide add your IP address you can see the toggle changes right there this is nice to have because before I stopped to go all the way into settings to change that and now we have a shortcut for it all right so now let's talk about one of the features that has a lot of people wishing they never even updated a 16.2 and that is related to the home application and Apple has actually just removed the option to update your home architecture on 16.2 due to ongoing bugs and issues stemming from this pretty big change so I talked about this in my past few episodes and I talked about how my home pods were stuck on configuring and I was confident that they were going to be fixed with like a reboot but as you can see they are all still stuck on configuring and I'm not able to access them at all from the home application like from right here nothing happens and you can see this is when it says up top homepod is being configured additional settings will be available shortly so I'm still able to actually use the homepod but I'm not able to access it or really do anything from the home application ever since I did the home architecture upgrade now what's weird is that I didn't have this issue throughout the beta stages I was using it on beta just fine it wasn't until the final public release when all of these issues started arising so it's very strange and Apple has actually now pulled that feature from the home app in 16.2 but if you already did it there is no reverting that change unfortunately now I will say that this home architecture upgrade was actually noticeable it did make a difference in reliability and in connectivity everything was faster everything is more fluent and everything was just much more responsive but it comes at the cost of having a lot of issues especially if you have multiple users in your house a lot of people found issues with adding devices with multiple people multiple users in the house Apple did also just provide a statement on this saying quote we are aware of an issue that may impact the ability for users to share the home within the home app a fix will be available soon in the meantime we've temporarily removed the option to upgrade to the new home architecture and they also posted a support document about this change as well so the fact that they you know made a statement on this and they also said that a fix will be available soon that makes me think that we could actually see 16.2.1 sooner than expected I think that this kind of calls for a new double Point update because I find it hard to believe this is going to be an over-the-air fix I feel like it must be something a little bit deeper that cannot be pushed just over the air I may be wrong but we'll have to wait and see I really hope that we do see a 16.2.1 sooner than later though and another pretty major issue that is affecting iPhone 14 and pro users is this right here so this is apparently flashing horizontal lines upon boot up on iPhone 14 pro and pro Max devices after updating to 16.2 so you know we don't know for sure if this is 16.2 to blame but it seems that people are just now starting to notice this after updating their device to 16.2 so we don't know for sure if this is a hardware or a software but but I'm sure Apple will be addressing this sooner rather than later because it's happened to multiple people now speaking of software updates Apple did also stop signing at 16.1.2 which means that you can no longer downgrade from 16.2 or 16.3 beta 1 back down to 16 at 0.1.2 now if you're a content creator and you don't mind editing on the iPad or some people actually prefer editing on the iPad you will be pleased to know that DaVinci Resolve has just officially come to the iPad and it's actually pretty great now I don't edit personally on my iPad but if I were to edit on my iPad I would definitely be giving this a try it is free I would highly recommend if you do create videos and you're looking for an editor on the iPad at least just to try DaVinci Resolve is available now for the iPad I will leave a link in the description below now if you have an air tag you're going to want to listen up to this because we now know what the latest changes were in the last two firmware updates for the air tags we didn't know until just this week what has actually been changed so with 2.0.24 that actually enabled Precision finding to help locate an unknown air tag that was detected moving with you so now you can use Precision finding which is where you get like The Arrow and it shows if you're close to an air tag that is not yours that way you can actually find out where it's hidden and the second bullet point says if your iPhone is awake a notification alerts you when an air tag that is separated from its owner is traveling with you and emitting a sound to indicate it has been moved and then in the latest firmware 2.0.36 it says resolves an issue with the airtag accelerometer not activating in certain scenarios so a lot of actually notable changes and features added here with the last two air tags updates and especially the Precision finding to help locate an unknown air tag that's a pretty big change so just know about that if you do have air tags or if you come in contact with an unknown air tag that is tracking you unknowingly now I also wanted to mention that the dark sky Apple location will be shutting down on January 1st so if you use that as your weather application like I did for the past several years you might want to get used to using the default weather application now because of course Apple did acquire dark sky in 2020 and I integrated a lot of that data into the default weather application so just know that the dark sky app will no longer work after January 1st and you're going to have to rely on either the default weather application which is actually pretty good now or just another third party and speaking of getting acquired I also wanted to give you guys an update on the NFL Sunday Ticket because that was just recently sold to Google for approximately two billion dollars a year it will now be an add-on for YouTube TV so as you guys know I have been covering this for a while here on the channel Apple was reportedly wanting to include the Sunday Ticket and their Apple TV plus package for 6.99 a month with no additional cost to watch the games but the NFL of course did not like that so that was the first issue that prevented Apple from securing this major major deal now the second issue was that the upcoming AR VR headsets also played a role as recently reported by the athletic so Apple was apparently concerned that it would not be able to incorporate the NFL Sunday Ticket into its future AR and VR platforms now of course it would have been nice to get the NFL Sunday Ticket for just seven dollars a month with Apple TV plus but we don't know for sure if Apple was going to actually do that that was just what was reported on but you know I'm sure it would have been significantly cheaper than what we're going to get charged with YouTube TV and what Google's going to charge but still you know if you want to have Sunday ticket and you don't have DirecTV now you have a much better way to access all of the NFL games now if you have still not picked up a gift for somebody and you want to get them an Apple product apple is actually offering two-hour delivery for free on December 24th a day that you're seeing this you can get free two-hour delivery from Apple retail stores so it's only for eligible products in certain areas but it is a nice little promo they're running to get you that last minute holiday gift but as far as bugs go in iOS 16.2 there's really not too many issues I'm having on the software now I know some people are seeing things like blank notifications we also have the issue where the volume controls during a phone call or FaceTime call are just simply not working that's been there for a while and then also sometimes I've noticed when I go into settings and then go to my wallpaper this just takes forever to load or just does not load at all even if I force quit out of settings it just seems like the wallpaper section takes forever to load even if you only have one set of wallpapers it sometimes will take a while but there's not really too many other issues I'm having so far with 16.2 or 16.3 but if you guys are having issues or bugs please let me know in a comment down below so I can address those all right so now let's talk about what to expect next from Apple so next up is going to be iOS 16.3 beta 2 for beta testers and that is most likely coming on the week of January 9th if I had to guess on a specific day I would say right there on January 11th that is just a guess but I don't don't think we're going to see anything on the first week of January that's not typical for Apple so it's probably going to be the second week of January right there before we get any type of software release now as far as a public release due to the issues I mentioned in this video we could actually see 16.2.1 before late January so my original prediction was in late January but I think that could be pushed up to honestly as early as the week of the ninth however I think it's going to most likely come on the week of the 16th rather than the 9th if it's going to come at all so I think we should see a 16.2.1 for sure in January now I'm just thinking that could be sooner rather than later due to the issues I mentioned in this video and as far as 16.3 the final release we're probably not going to see that until at least February maybe even March all right so now let's move on to the latest Apple news and let's start with the iPhone se4 and why Apple might be canceling their plans to release it next year according to Ming Chi quo's latest survey quote Apple will likely cancel or postpone the mass production plan for the 2024 iPhone se4 I think this is due to the consistently lower than expected shipments of mid to low end iPhones as well as concerns that the full screen design of the se4 will lead to an increase in higher cost and selling prices additionally reducing unnecessary new product development expenses will also help the company navigate the challenges of the global economic recession in 2023 so it looks like apple knows that they're going to have to raise the price of the SE and amid a recession that's probably not a good idea and it's probably not going to be worth the product development expenses for that so this is a big deal on a more macro level as well because if apple is seeing struggles ahead like this I can only imagine how other companies are going to struggle and kind of navigate 2023 given the economic environment but I will say that now with the se4 either just fully canceled or just delayed until a future date I can now see even more people gravitating towards the 13 mini which by the way is still sold by Apple now let's move on to a phone the Apple will be releasing next year the iPhone 15. according to a new report from digit times the iPhone 15 will still use qualcomm's 5G modems and set up the Apple made custom modems that they're still having trouble finalizing so of course we heard about this for a while but Apple has still not finished their custom modems so the report says that tsmc will be the main supplier of the Qualcomm 5G chip for use in the iPhone 15 using the 5 nanometer and four nanometer process and then according to a separate report from the information the a16 chip that was in the iPhone 14 pro was actually intended to be a much more ambitious chip with a major GPU upgrade that would have included Hardware accelerated Ray tracing which essentially is a lighting technique to achieve a further level of realism in games but due to poor thermals and poor battery life this had to be scrapped at the last minute and that led to a restructuring of the graphics processor team which explains most likely why a lot of you know team members left Apple over the past year or two so this explains a lot of the previously unanswered questions that we've had and it also leads me to believe that the iPhone 15 Pros GPU with that a17 Chip is going to be a major Leap Forward hopefully Apple has finalized that and gotten the thermals and the battery life figured out but it looks like the a17 Chip is going to have that GPU that should have been in the 14 pro and if so we're going to see a major Leap Forward in GPU performance now let's talk about the Mac because we have a few different products to discuss thanks to a recent Bloomberg report first The elusive M2 MacBook Pro is finally coming in early 2023 after being expected to be released in Q4 of this year so German who wrote this report also mentions that an iMac Pro is still coming the report says this the aforementioned Mac Mini update will come in regular M2 and M2 Pro variations while the new 14 inch and 16 inch MacBook Pros are arriving early next year with M2 Pro and Max options the company also contain can use to eye a high-end iMac Pro with apple silicon but that machine has suffered internal delays for similar reasons as the Mac Pro and speaking of the Mac Pro it seems that the M2 extreme chip has been scrapped so it says quote based on Apple's current pricing structure an M2 extreme version of a Mac Pro would probably cost at least ten thousand dollars without any other upgrades making it an extraordinarily Niche product that isn't likely worth the development costs engineering resources and production bandwidth it would require instead the Mac Pro is expected to rely on a new generation M2 Ultra chip rather than the M1 Ultra and will retain one of its Hallmark features easy expandability for additional memory storage and other components and then we also get rumors about the next apple silicon displays and it says quote Apple is working on multiple new external monitors as well including an update to the pro display xdr it is possible however that the company's next high-end display will ship after the Mac Pro and as the computer is further along in development than the monitor German also said that a new iMac with an M3 chip will quote probably launch at the end of 2023 at the earliest although given the amount of products in the pipeline and the economy the economic situation I honestly doubt that the M3 iMac will be here before 2024 and speaking of displays a new report from the elect claims that Samsung is prioritizing development of OLED displays for the upcoming iPad Pro so according to the report Samsung has prioritized the development of a particular display type that uses two stack tandem OLED panels which is what Apple plans to use in future iPad and Mac models prioritization of this display type means that Samsung will focus Less on developing full Cuts OLED displays which use just a single OLED layer and according to Ross young apple is expected to release the first OLED iPad Pro in 2024 in the same 11 inch and 12.9 inch sizes and then what if I told you that Tesla of all companies Beats app Apple to the market for an iPhone and Apple related product because that's kind of what happened this week when Tesla started taking orders for a new air power like charger so this is now for sale in the Tesla shot for 300 it is a Multi-Device charger and they kind of just beat Apple to the punch after several years of failed development on a similar product now notoriously known as air power although this is certainly inferior to what Apple would release or maybe will release it is something I'm sure that many people will still purchase just due to the fact that it has the Tesla name attached to it but I can tell you right now I will not be paying 300 for this but it is still interesting to see and then finally a story related to find my that is not a negative story about a stalker I feel like that's a trend here on the Apple weekly series I always talk about negative things about the find my app and air tag stocking people but this is a good one because a hotel guest in Montreal used the find my app to help police track down her stolen airpods after other items were also stolen from her room by a hotel employee yes an employee it all started back in June when a woman filed a police report due to the staff not helping her locate a Louis Vuitton purse and some cash that had been taken from her hotel room and after initially getting nowhere with the hotel staff or the police she eventually noticed that her airpods were also missing so she checked out the find my app where she saw them move between the hotel and a second location over the course of multiple days indicating that was probably going to be an employee that stole her airpods and presumably the other items as well and after reporting this info to the police they secured a court order to get a list of employees from the hotel and also got authorized a search warrant for the address that repeatedly appeared in find my and then several months later on November 29th an officer recovered the stolen airpods and confirmed that a hotel employee was in fact the thief but there was no trace of the handbag or the cash just the airpods and of course since the investigation is ongoing for that reason we don't know who the thief is or what they are going to be charged with but I'm sure they are detained right now so take this as a lesson don't leave valuables out in plain sight and hotel rooms either bring them with you hide them in your suitcase or just put them in a safe that's in nearly every single hotel room you just cannot trust anybody these days not Maids not employees nobody so just look out for yourself but anyways I feel like I always have to end these episodes with like some wife advice but anyway there you have it that is the latest batch of apple news from this past week along with some updates on the latest iOS 16.2 updates hope you guys enjoyed this video and I hope you guys have a happy holiday season I will see you guys next week thanks again for watching and I'll see you soon your brain is full of spiderswhat's up guys my name is Brandon and welcome back to a holiday edition of Apple weekly so apple is done releasing new software and hardware for the year but we still have quite a bit to discuss so in this episode we're going to talk about even more new features discovered in iOS 16.2 along with two major problems with the software that have people wishing they never even updated and then after covering the software we're going to discuss the multiple new Macs coming next year why Apple will likely cancel the iPhone se4 Tesla beating Apple to the market for a product an update on the NFL Sunday Ticket the find my feature finally making the news for a good reason and much more and as always if you guys want to stay updated with all things Apple make sure to click that subscribe button down below so you don't miss next week's episode so let's start by talking about iOS 16.2 which is the latest public release of course we do have 16.3 beta 1 but there's really not too much going on with that software so I will not be talking about that in this week's episode but if you're curious about that watch my 16.3 beta 1 video and last week's Apple weekly episode but anyways let's talk about some additional features here in 16.2 so as you can see in the shortcuts application we have several new actions for books so we have 16.1.2 over here on the left 16.2 and later on the right and you can see we have multiple new actions and we don't only have the add PDF to books so you can now search in books Turn the Page play audiobook open book all of that you could add to your shortcuts or your automations we also have several improvements and shortcuts including the set parked car action no longer presumes you're with your car the speak text has improved reliability and the start timer action adds a prompt to select a time now also in 16.2 we have a new toggle at the bottom of our iCloud settings that has not appeared since the original 16.0 software for whatever reason it was removed but now it is back and we're not talking about Advanced Data protection we're talking about this toggle right here that says access iCloud data on the web so you can actually turn that off so that you you are not able to or anybody else is not able to access your iCloud data from a web client so that basically they're going to have to be on your iPhone to access your iCloud data and you will see this splash screen appears right here and asks you don't access your iCloud data on the web I'm going to go ahead and tap on don't access and so now if you try to access your iCloud data from the web you will get this prompt right here and it says you turned off iCloud data web access and now if you tap on manage on device it will actually send you a link and it will take you to that part in your settings so if I go here you will see this is the prompt that you will get and if you tap on that notification it will take you straight into your iCloud settings so that is a good option to have for security reasons that way nobody can see your iCloud data from a web client they're going to actually have to have an iPhone with your Apple ID logged in so that's a good security feature at least to have the option to turn on or off if we head into the App Store and go to the search tab at the bottom right here under discover some people are seeing some search lift icons next to the search results however I am not seeing that right here but that was a feature included with 16.2 and then something I wanted to related to the private relay features if you tap on show IP address it will show your IP address and you can go and tap it again and it will hide add your IP address you can see the toggle changes right there this is nice to have because before I stopped to go all the way into settings to change that and now we have a shortcut for it all right so now let's talk about one of the features that has a lot of people wishing they never even updated a 16.2 and that is related to the home application and Apple has actually just removed the option to update your home architecture on 16.2 due to or if you come in contact with an unknown air tag that is tracking you unknowingly now I also wanted to mention that the dark sky Apple location will be shutting down on January 1st so if you use that as your weather application like I did for the past several years you might want to get used to using the default weather application now because of course Apple did acquire dark sky in 2020 and I integrated a lot of that data into the default weather application so just know that the dark sky app will no longer work after January 1st and you're going to have to rely on either the default weather application which is actually pretty good now or just another third party and speaking of getting acquired I also wanted to give you guys an update on the NFL Sunday Ticket because that was just recently sold to Google for approximately two billion dollars a year it will now be an add-on for YouTube TV so as you guys know I have been covering this for a while here on the channel Apple was reportedly wanting to include the Sunday Ticket and their Apple TV plus package for 6.99 a month with no additional cost to watch the games but the NFL of course did not like that so that was the first issue that prevented Apple from securing this major major deal now the second issue was that the upcoming AR VR headsets also played a role as recently reported by the athletic so Apple was apparently concerned that it would not be able to incorporate the NFL Sunday Ticket into its future AR and VR platforms now of course it would have been nice to get the NFL Sunday Ticket for just seven dollars a month with Apple TV plus but we don't know for sure if Apple was going to actually do that that was just what was reported on but you know I'm sure it would have been significantly cheaper than what we're going to get charged with YouTube TV and what Google's going to charge but still you know if you want to have Sunday ticket and you don't have DirecTV now you have a much better way to access all of the NFL games now if you have still not picked up a gift for somebody and you want to get them an Apple product apple is actually offering two-hour delivery for free on December 24th a day that you're seeing this you can get free two-hour delivery from Apple retail stores so it's only for eligible products in certain areas but it is a nice little promo they're running to get you that last minute holiday gift but as far as bugs go in iOS 16.2 there's really not too many issues I'm having on the software now I know some people are seeing things like blank notifications we also have the issue where the volume controls during a phone call or FaceTime call are just simply not working that's been there for a while and then also sometimes I've noticed when I go into settings and then go to my wallpaper this just takes forever to load or just does not load at all even if I force quit out of settings it just seems like the wallpaper section takes forever to load even if you only have one set of wallpapers it sometimes will take a while but there's not really too many other issues I'm having so far with 16.2 or 16.3 but if you guys are having issues or bugs please let me know in a comment down below so I can address those all right so now let's talk about what to expect next from Apple so next up is going to be iOS 16.3 beta 2 for beta testers and that is most likely coming on the week of January 9th if I had to guess on a specific day I would say right there on January 11th that is just a guess but I don't don't think we're going to see anything on the first week of January that's not typical for Apple so it's probably going to be the second week of January right there before we get any type of software release now as far as a public release due to the issues I mentioned in this video we could actually see 16.2.1 before late January so my original prediction was in late January but I think that could be pushed up to honestly as early as the week of the ninth however I think it's going to most likely come on the week of the 16th rather than the 9th if it's going to come at all so I think we should see a 16.2.1 for sure in January now I'm just thinking that could be sooner rather than later due to the issues I mentioned in this video and as far as 16.3 the final release we're probably not going to see that until at least February maybe even March all right so now let's move on to the latest Apple news and let's start with the iPhone se4 and why Apple might be canceling their plans to release it next year according to Ming Chi quo's latest survey quote Apple will likely cancel or postpone the mass production plan for the 2024 iPhone se4 I think this is due to the consistently lower than expected shipments of mid to low end iPhones as well as concerns that the full screen design of the se4 will lead to an increase in higher cost and selling prices additionally reducing unnecessary new product development expenses will also help the company navigate the challenges of the global economic recession in 2023 so it looks like apple knows that they're going to have to raise the price of the SE and amid a recession that's probably not a good idea and it's probably not going to be worth the product development expenses for that so this is a big deal on a more macro level as well because if apple is seeing struggles ahead like this I can only imagine how other companies are going to struggle and kind of navigate 2023 given the economic environment but I will say that now with the se4 either just fully canceled or just delayed until a future date I can now see even more people gravitating towards the 13 mini which by the way is still sold by Apple now let's move on to a phone the Apple will be releasing next year the iPhone 15. according to a new report from digit times the iPhone 15 will still use qualcomm's 5G modems and set up the Apple made custom modems that they're still having trouble finalizing so of course we heard about this for a while but Apple has still not finished their custom modems so the report says that tsmc will be the main supplier of the Qualcomm 5G chip for use in the iPhone 15 using the 5 nanometer and four nanometer process and then according to a separate report from the information the a16 chip that was in the iPhone 14 pro was actually intended to be a much more ambitious chip with a major GPU upgrade that would have included Hardware accelerated Ray tracing which essentially is a lighting technique to achieve a further level of realism in games but due to poor thermals and poor battery life this had to be scrapped at the last minute and that led to a restructuring of the graphics processor team which explains most likely why a lot of you know team members left Apple over the past year or two so this explains a lot of the previously unanswered questions that we've had and it also leads me to believe that the iPhone 15 Pros GPU with that a17 Chip is going to be a major Leap Forward hopefully Apple has finalized that and gotten the thermals and the battery life figured out but it looks like the a17 Chip is going to have that GPU that should have been in the 14 pro and if so we're going to see a major Leap Forward in GPU performance now let's talk about the Mac because we have a few different products to discuss thanks to a recent Bloomberg report first The elusive M2 MacBook Pro is finally coming in early 2023 after being expected to be released in Q4 of this year so German who wrote this report also mentions that an iMac Pro is still coming the report says this the aforementioned Mac Mini update will come in regular M2 and M2 Pro variations while the new 14 inch and 16 inch MacBook Pros are arriving early next year with M2 Pro and Max options the company also contain can use to eye a high-end iMac Pro with apple silicon but that machine has suffered internal delays for similar reasons as the Mac Pro and speaking of the Mac Pro it seems that the M2 extreme chip has been scrapped so it says quote based on Apple's current pricing structure an M2 extreme version of a Mac Pro would probably cost at least ten thousand dollars without any other upgrades making it an extraordinarily Niche product that isn't likely worth the development costs engineering resources and production bandwidth it would require instead the Mac Pro is expected to rely on a new generation M2 Ultra chip rather than the M1 Ultra and will retain one of its Hallmark features easy expandability for additional memory storage and other components and then we also get rumors about the next apple silicon displays and it says quote Apple is working on multiple new external monitors as well including an update to the pro display xdr it is possible however that the company's next high-end display will ship after the Mac Pro and as the computer is further along in development than the monitor German also said that a new iMac with an M3 chip will quote probably launch at the end of 2023 at the earliest although given the amount of products in the pipeline and the economy the economic situation I honestly doubt that the M3 iMac will be here before 2024 and speaking of displays a new report from the elect claims that Samsung is prioritizing development of OLED displays for the upcoming iPad Pro so according to the report Samsung has prioritized the development of a particular display type that uses two stack tandem OLED panels which is what Apple plans to use in future iPad and Mac models prioritization of this display type means that Samsung will focus Less on developing full Cuts OLED displays which use just a single OLED layer and according to Ross young apple is expected to release the first OLED iPad Pro in 2024 in the same 11 inch and 12.9 inch sizes and then what if I told you that Tesla of all companies Beats app Apple to the market for an iPhone and Apple related product because that's kind of what happened this week when Tesla started taking orders for a new air power like charger so this is now for sale in the Tesla shot for 300 it is a Multi-Device charger and they kind of just beat Apple to the punch after several years of failed development on a similar product now notoriously known as air power although this is certainly inferior to what Apple would release or maybe will release it is something I'm sure that many people will still purchase just due to the fact that it has the Tesla name attached to it but I can tell you right now I will not be paying 300 for this but it is still interesting to see and then finally a story related to find my that is not a negative story about a stalker I feel like that's a trend here on the Apple weekly series I always talk about negative things about the find my app and air tag stocking people but this is a good one because a hotel guest in Montreal used the find my app to help police track down her stolen airpods after other items were also stolen from her room by a hotel employee yes an employee it all started back in June when a woman filed a police report due to the staff not helping her locate a Louis Vuitton purse and some cash that had been taken from her hotel room and after initially getting nowhere with the hotel staff or the police she eventually noticed that her airpods were also missing so she checked out the find my app where she saw them move between the hotel and a second location over the course of multiple days indicating that was probably going to be an employee that stole her airpods and presumably the other items as well and after reporting this info to the police they secured a court order to get a list of employees from the hotel and also got authorized a search warrant for the address that repeatedly appeared in find my and then several months later on November 29th an officer recovered the stolen airpods and confirmed that a hotel employee was in fact the thief but there was no trace of the handbag or the cash just the airpods and of course since the investigation is ongoing for that reason we don't know who the thief is or what they are going to be charged with but I'm sure they are detained right now so take this as a lesson don't leave valuables out in plain sight and hotel rooms either bring them with you hide them in your suitcase or just put them in a safe that's in nearly every single hotel room you just cannot trust anybody these days not Maids not employees nobody so just look out for yourself but anyways I feel like I always have to end these episodes with like some wife advice but anyway there you have it that is the latest batch of apple news from this past week along with some updates on the latest iOS 16.2 updates hope you guys enjoyed this video and I hope you guys have a happy holiday season I will see you guys next week thanks again for watching and I'll see you soon your brain is full of spiders\n"
